I think the number of people watching this game was bigger in Japan than in the US. Japanese fans want to hear him speaking Japanese and even he speaks English well, he still expresses himself way better in Japanese. Many ex-major leaguers have been playing in Japan and even they learn some Japanese and communicate in Japanese with his teammates, they still speak English in interviews. That’s nothing rare.
