Yes the Astros cheated, thats a known fact. But the reason he didn’t resign with the team, was because at the time fans were mad. Obviously looking back on it, it wasn’t his fault. But that IS the reason he left LA.
Huh? So if the fans understood it wasn't his fault, Darvish wouldn't have left Dodgers right? You should have talked about it in the video. Why didn't you? You made Darvish look bad. You should remake the video.
@@koningklootzak7788 Fans understood it wasn’t his fault in 2020! The point in that video we were at, was 2017. No one knew about the Astros cheating scandal at that point. So at that point, Dodgers fans were mad at him.

I blame Dave roberts to this day. This isn’t hindsight, I said going into game 7 we should start Alex wood and kershaw both throwing 3-4 innings. They didn’t do well against wood and only did well against kershaw because they were cheating at home. Darvish got rocked his first start and plus the Astros had been facing darvish for years as he was on the rangers. I knew going into game 7 we would lose because of that decision.
As a Dodgers fan since 1977 and the only team I have ever been a fan of, I can honestly say the loss of the Padres owner was tragic. It is not as much fun to win without real competition. Not that these players would've chosen the Padres over the Dodgers but to not even have them compete and put up a fight is sad to see. To all the Padres Fans my heart goes out to you. When the McCourt's owned the Dodgers it was some of the hardest years of my fandom. Having to live with owners that are in it solely for the money or anything other than winning is wholly heartbreaking. Just hold tight hopefully someone is on the way to restore your hope. Happy New Year to all....
@@averageadam5001 Did you forget about the rest of the Padres core? You're not gonna be mediocre with guys like Tatis, Machado, and Bogaerts. Guys like King, Darvish, and Musgrove as well as Matsui, Cronenworth, Suarez, Kim, and Campusano are also very good pieces. The young guys - Merrill, Marsee, Thorpe, Snelling, and Salas eventually - coming up will be good soon hopefully. They won't win 100 games or a World Series this year, but this team isn't gonna be anything like the 2010s. They'll still be competitive, and frankly, they look better than the Giants and about as good as the Dbacks at this point (not optimistic, but FanGraphs projections have us very close to each other and above the Giants). What we're seeing is the reality of being a small market. You can't sign every guy you want - especially when shit goes bad. But a $200M payroll is nothing to scoff about, and frankly, it's $100M more than they've been my whole childhood.

With all due respect, you didn't do all of your homework on the Padres. The Padres had to trade Soto now, or get nothing for him next year. And, you made no mention of the fact that their TV deal fizzled, costing them $50 million (which they had to borrow at the end of last season). Yes, I question some of Preller's moves too, but you didn't tell the whole story.
It should definitely be explained in the video that Astros cheated as not everyone knows the timeline. Btw, the Padres started tightening their budget even before the owner’s death. The biggest culprit is the demise of Bally Sports.
well sorry yu. he should have seen the writing on the wall when (1) peter seidler passed away RIP (2) they lost their TV deal (3) they were ordered by the league to lower payroll due to their debt being too high and (4) they missed out on playoff money due to missing the playoffs.
Also the Padres literally have no money to spend. Their tv deal went under and their owner died. They were operating on borrowed time and lost their window to spend to compete. Why would they waste their time on meetings with Yamamoto and Ohtani when they had no means of signing them, to tell their fans “we tried”?
Tough to say. The Astros still had a very good team even despite the cheating scandal. Can't say the Dodgers would have won considering all the success the Astros had after 2017. Championship should just be empty for 2017

Then these same losers who have nothing but contempt for their fanbase then threaten to move if the public doesn't build them a new billion dollar stadium with public money.
@@Hikayuhuy They are close. The MLB had to take control of the payroll and force reductions. For the next few years spending has to be approved by the league. Peter Seidler financed his majority stake in ownership in 2019 when interest rates were zero. They have skyrocketed since then. Also the luxury tax was exceeded three years in a row which means we are paying 39 million to MLB for this season. This is in addition to the 50 million loan to cover payroll for this year. We requested 100 million but only half was granted. AJ Tingler Preller also exceeded the international spending for the year and a 50% tax is owed. The debt load is higher than the collective bargaining agreement allows which is why MLB and the commissioners office is involved. If we didn’t get control of the debt load the franchise could be placed into a receivership. It’s not anything close to what other franchises are going through. We have unique circumstances. It’s multiple factors. We are in bad shape. These are all facts. We lost 55 million last season when we made the playoffs. This year the loss is 100 million. We are not a large market team. We spent like one the past three years. The payroll went from 255 million to a range of 170 to 200 for 2024 and will be reduced further the next few years. Most casual fans have no clue the true financials of the team. Record attendance doesn’t mean a windfall because about 80% of tickets go to the city and taxpayers since we built the stadium with bonds and increased taxes and higher accommodation taxes. We lost our TV deal which was another blow. So yes we are down bad. Which is why you won’t see large contracts or FA signings going forward.
San Diego is a big MLB market? Since when? You always know which teams have the biggest market by how often people wear their hats. Youll see more Tigers, Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox hats more than any other market. I've traveled across the country all year and I haven't seen one person wear a San Diego Padres hat. I think growing market would’ve been a much better word, based on where the organization has gone as of recent. Seidler did all he could to help that team grow, and I think with time they’l be bigger.
The padres are so poorly managed. Its crazy how preller even has a job. Instead of trading their star expiring contracts at the deadline, they chose to try to make the playoffs in which they didnt. They legit are letting star players walk for comp picks

The machado extendion was the dumbest and clownish thing i’ve seen in a while. There was no reason for it. He didn’t put up a great year worth what he got. He wouldn’t have opted out of the remaining contract and the padres would have only paid 150 instead of another 300.
Yeah it was such an interesting time. Originally, people just thought he was tipping pitches. Astros Players blamed it on that after the news came out (obviously BS, they’re just cheaters)
You state they have the money to sign Yamamoto or Ohtani, but that is not true. They have no TV contract, so while the Dodgers have a quarter of a billion coming each year in local TV money, the Padres have very little since Bally's went bankrupt.
Did you really say that “San Diego is a big market and as such should spend like the big market team they are”? Clearly you haven’t done your homework on this one. San Diego ISNT a big market, we just had an owner who was willing to spend. The team doesn’t even have a TV deal right now. Also, that logic is just flawed. While i understand how one might get to such a conclusion - big spender= big market- but it really comes down to the owner and his motivation to take out the check book. Yes, the market largely determines the budget, but to make such a blanket statement really diminishes the impact Peter Siedler made and how he completely changed the Padres image in a short amount of time. He was an outlier, an owner who really put his money where his mouth was to put no doubt into our fans minds that he was serious and committed to building a winner here in San Diego. Sure it didn’t result in a championship, but man it was one hell of a performance ride.

I will also say that I kinda disagree with Soto being the best player. Yeah, he had solid numbers last year but a lot came too little too late. I also watched him grounding into double plays all April and May. Mark Grant once said "You can't win the division in April, but you sure can lose it", i think Tatis has a much higher ceiling than Soto, he has platinum glove defense in the outfield, speed and power. the padres are a small market team, not a big one, they've never even been considered a big market team, even to this day. the only reason they were able to spend the money they did was because of their owner who was willing to spend that much before passing, they also do not have anywhere near the money to sign either players, having to go as far as to borrow $50 million to pay their players, even saying that they planned to shed payroll this offseason, the reason everyone knew soto was guaranteed to move.

Not even a simple meeting. I feel a little betrayed, and i'm bummed out about it,” ALSO, in the same post Darvish does talk about the Dodgers “I was with the Dodgers, they play smart and I know how hard they all work and play, but that’s why I want to beat them (and so many others)” And he did end it with “But, we got Matsui, so we will do our absolute best. I love Ohtani and Yamamoto, so I’m just happy to be playing ball with them”

I can’t tell but I think you hate AJ Preller lmfao He’s made bad moves - completely. But Imma be honest, he’s not a Top 10 worst GM in the league. We were praising him when he went all in in 2015 and 2023, we praised him when we went and got Soto, we praised him when we got to the NLCS, we praised him when we made the playoffs in 2020, we praised him when we added pieces in 2021, and we praise him for the farm. Yet now y’all hate him bc the super team he assembled to try to win a World Series underperformed and he traded a player who wants $500M and was going to be a free agent anyway? By no means am I saying he’s a Top 10 GM. But besides the managers and micromanaging, I struggle to find much bad about him. He needs to change how involved with the team he is, and I think he will learn. But realistically, NONE of what happened in 2023 is his fault. Him and Siedler created a team to win - Manny and Xander were injured, Soto underperformed until September, and Tatis had been out for a year. The bullpen was hot and cold, the bottom of the order couldn’t pull any weight, and the bench wasn’t great. The bench not being great I can blame on Preller - you need veterans off the bench but he overstocked. I blame Preller for the bad bench, overpaying for X by $80M (he’s a star but not worth $280M), and micromanaging. But it’s not all his fault and it feels like you’re scapegoating a little. Hell, I wouldn’t replace him unless Kim Ng came calling. Tho, this may be one of his last chances so idk
@@CarsonWalker-t3w There are so many reasons to hate AJ Tingler Preller. He is a glorified scout. Which isn’t in his job description. What makes it worse for the organization is that he hold two positions, GM and president of baseball operations. He sucks at both. He single handedly ruined the finances of the team with bad contracts. He can’t attract talent to SD because of his horrible reputation. 20 teams won’t do business with him so he is extremely limited with trades. The only way he can get major talent is via trade or overpaying. The league has suspended and fined him multiple times. Yes there is a ton to hate. He lies for no reason at all. It just comes natural to him. He has had a myriad of coaches, managers, and staff in his 9 year tenure which is unprecedented in baseball. There has been nothing but chaos and dysfunction in the front office as long as he’s been here. He has never had a short or long term plan. He makes it up as he goes along and he has never put together a complete roster. He would make a good scout and evaluator of talent. If his position was VP of scouting and talent we’d be okay. The average fans see the stars on this team and think it’s AJ but it’s Peter Seidler’s credit cards and lines of credit that landed those stars. AJ is incompetent and inept in the front office. The organization is extremely dysfunctional. You can’t have that much turnover and expect to be successful. Any person that has a business or management background can clearly see the problems. Leadership at the top is important to the clubhouse and what happens on the field. We had two epic collapses and it wasn’t by accident. 2021 and 2023 happened before and after 2022. The season we went on a run is an outlier. An anomaly. We don’t give the Dodgers credit for the shortened season so we should be consistent and toss ours out. We got embarrassed that year by the Dodgers. So in 9 years we have a history and record with AJ. He’s had ab opportunity with tearing it down, building it up, spending, and operating on a budget. He suck’s at it all. Signing Rich Hill at the trade deadline should be a fireable offense in itself. I’ve never praised AJ for the Soto trade. We were below .500 for the time he was here. He didn’t move the needle for us. AJ did it to make a splash. He loves being in the spotlight. He lied and said he’d be around for 3 playoff runs. He was here for one. He mismanaged contracts and the budget and lost Soto anyway. That wasn’t planned. He was forced into the trade. You can like him. I don’t begrudge you this. But we can’t pretend he’s competent. He isn’t. And any empty chair could do better for this franchise. His ego and narcissism wouldn’t allow him to hire a GM like Peter wanted. He even gave Peter the middle finger when he told him to work with Melvin in 2024. The man is unbelievable. And he’ll be long gone before that contract is up. I believe 2024 is it for him. We already know what’s coming. We’ve seen this movie before.
You kinow what sucks equally? That the Dodgers traded for Darvish to try to win a Series, and he was one of the main reasons why they lost in 2017. And now he hates THEM for it?
Signing Xander Extending cronenworth Extending Manny No TV deal Hurt getting Ohtani and / or Yamamoto If AJ was serious about Ohtani and Yamamoto, he would have planned for it 3-5 years ago. 🤷♂️
So we are just going to gloss over the fact of the trash cans ok coool, and the Padres are not a big market… they needed to take out loans to pay some salary
I do think the biggest reason they are not doing any aggressive signings this offseason is not because of A. J. Preller but instead of ownership, the death of Peter Seidler probably left the rest of the ownership group in a bit of a unorganized situation and considering their already quite big expenses they don't want to be making big commitments, because for the Padres and Preller to not even be in any rumors or show any interest is not the norm, they are always linked to most top free agents these past few offseasons. Just on this offseason have they been very silent and actually downgrading (Soto, Hader, Snell), unfortunately the death of Seidlerit just so happened to be the same offseason that two of the best talents from Japan went into free agency. At the end of the day Preller has to answer to ownership and it seems that right now the Padres are a bit lost on how to proceed financially, so they aren't taking risks/big signings.
Wrong. We are broke because of AJ Tingler Preller. He hold two positions in the front office and is horrible at both of him. His contracts are atrocious. And his moves or non moves at the trade deadline devastated this team. His 10 years has been chaotic and dysfunctional. He won’t be around much longer. Peter should have fired him years ago.
@@jdsthird I preface that this is all only my opinion and I have no facts to back it up and simply enjoy engaging in this debate :) that said. I mean being broke in the MLB isn't really a thing, I don't believe there is a single team that loses money at the end of the year (maybe the Mets this past year), it's more a question of does ownership want to sink more money into the team or rebuild/retool? And it seemed to me that Peter wanted to spend right now. I'm not saying Preller is a good or bad GM (personally I think he is a quite a terrible one) I'm simply saying that for a team that has shown that they have been willing to spend even when they already had big contracts and were above the luxury tax, suddenly even though there are big names they aren't even trying. I think Preller would spend every year if he could, it's almost a irrefutable fact like: we can count on death taxes and Preller "winning" the offseason, so if the Peter was keeping him around he probably expected exactly that style. So if he is not doing it, I believe it has to do with either a complete change of philosophy from the ownership group, or that they are a bit lost after what happened and are deciding to just not act on anything. My point was more that it wasn't that Preller didn't want to spend, it was that he wasn't allowed. Now that could be because they have a bunch of bad contracts and thus are broke (which I personally don't tend to believe that a big market team is broke, the Mets and Dodgers have spent more money and are willing to spend even more) or because "new" ownership isn't interested in spending as they are not yet sure what to do with the team, because it's not in a good situation if you don't intend to continue to spend like Peter did.
I guess It's too bad that he decided to sign that 6-year extension I guess because it sounds to me like he wishes he could be with them.🤔🤨 He ran into the Asstros in 2017 and got robbed of a title but why care about what another man is doing? Do you Yu 😜😁😂
The Padres owner passing away and their regional sport’s network deal falling through due to bankruptcy has changed the trajectory of the team in terms of spending.
They took loans cuz Bally went bankrupt. With how loaded our farm is, I think we'll be okay next year. Definitely more depth than we had in 23 with no sleepy Bomid on the mound.
@@jdsthird Bad contracts, yes but have we done anything stupid like giving away the farm? No. Minus Soto, we got a good haul, a decent hitting coach and now a manager who's twice better than Bomid. Are we broke? No cuz we still have Xander, Manny and Tatis Jr. Noway were broke.
@@Fujiwaramoguu Yes we have. AJ has always had a good farm because he is a good scout. This doesn’t make him a good executive. He has two jobs in one and non is scout. He’s better suited for that role.

Total bush league. You can't talk about what happened to Darvish in the World Series and say "he choked". You could have easily said, "The world thought he choked, but we now know he was cheated". Thumbs down for such a horrible take.
A team pays Ohtani $700 million because he's a two way player. He can pitch and hit, however, he's coming back from two Tommy Johns and is reaching 30. He'll always be an elite hitter but his price changed for me once he received his second elbow surgery
The idol of Sasaki Rōki is Yu Darvish, who is upset about LAD becoming Japan’s team. SD is Korea’s team. He wants to make SD more popular in Japan with Sasaki Rōki signing there. Side note: Murakami Munetaka’s idol is Ohtani Shohei, he admitted this in 2022, all he wants is to have the honor to play alongside him. He is only one year away from MLB time!
Alot of people don't remeber no one was there to fight for Yuu Darvish when Yuri Gurriel did that asia face on him. Dodgers have worst teammates and fanbace for sure.
Damn that is harsh that they didn't even give these guys a single call to discuss what the minimum was to get them to come play along with Yu. Had they known Ohtani was willing to defer, the option may have been there. The fact that Yu was hesitant to get the extension because he didn't want this to affect getting new players is heartbreaking. We better call Sasaki up at least once when he hits the market.
But really, we know now that option wasn't actually there even if we called. Ohtani gave the Dodgers the final say and took it when they agreed. The Blue Jays didnt get a rebuttal, nor did anyone else. Had the Bally Sport isnt bankrupting, Machado not have the slump of his life, the Padres made the playoff to give Ohtani some more confident AND Peter Seidler was around to liquidate more of his asset, maybe then they would have a chance to continue increasing payroll and sign Ohtani. None of those thing happened. Our hands are absolutely tied this off season.
What the hell did I just hear all of a sudden San Diego is one of the biggest markets I’m born and raised here and I have always heard that we are a small market team. What the hell
They didn't lie, our owner died... there are so many legalities that come with handing off ownership of anything when someone passes let alone an MLB TEAM! CMON...
I agree, I have been a Dodgers fan since the early 70's and I don't blame Darvish, I blame the Houston Cheaters !!! I'd even be happy to see him back in a Dodgers uniform so he could redeem himself.
San Diego is actually one of the smaller markets in MLB only the Reds, Brewers and Royals have smaller markets. They literally had to borrow $50 million at the end of the year to meet operating costs and the company that was broadcasting their games went under in early 2023 putting stress on their finances. 2023 was definitely their all in year with the number of expiring contracts they had and trying to get a World Series ring for a owner who didn’t have much time. The attendance numbers are impressive but you need those big TV deals or a very rich owner to be able to compete with LAs and the NYs of the world when it comes to payroll. It wouldn’t surprise me if they look to trade off either Tatis or Machado in the future.
@@bkg9813No the Padres are broke my friend. It has nothing to do with resetting the CBT. It’s really bad. I can explain it in detail if you really need me to.
This is lame content. Gimme a break. The Padres were in no position to insanely over-spend on Ohtani/Yamamoto.... A 12-year 350million commitment to a pitcher who may or may not spend 50% of his time on the IL.... If Darvish is really "upset" about that, then he's a child, and so are you for manufacturing BS content like this....

@@DaveTheTurd All over twitter. For instance, one singular post on Twitter regarding this had 2 million views. Just to show how big of a story that this is.
@PurelyBaseballYT Preller has had a hard-on for Ohtani for the better part of a decade. If there was any way possible to sign him, Ohtani would be in San Diego right now. And the only reason the Dodgers could sign Yamamoto to that retarded deal is because of all of that deferred Ohtani money. Mortgaging their future for an untried arm, an Asian DeGrom... both of those signing are ridiculous gambles. The Padres went about it the right way. If Darvish can't see that, he's a nitwit. And in no way does this mean "The Padres LIED to Yu Darvish". Use your head, bro. You're being insanely counter-productive....
Purely Baseball, I would be remiss if I didn't take the opportunity to correct a few things and also try to fill in some gaps here. Please don't take this as me trying to be mean, i respect the grind. 1. San Diego is in no way now or ever a large market, it is such a small market in fact that many teams have left the city to never come back. 2. The padres literally had to take out a $50 million dollar loan at the end of the season, the finances aren't looking too great. 3. This type of spending is not the norm for the Padres, up untill 2018 the Padres have tried to keep a bottom half payroll historicaly. 4. Owner Sadler died, could be that the reason the Padres pushed so hard to compete recently is because a sick Owner wanted to get a WS trophy before he unfortunately passed away (RIP). 5 Sadler was alive when he told Yu Darvish these things, if he was still around they may have very well went after Ohtani or Yamamoto. 6. They shouldn't have went after them anyway The padres have not been very good as of late, they were reportedly dealing with clashing personalities in the clubhouse too. They shouldn't keep throwing endless bags of money at FAs if you are already in a bad spot financially and the team just isn't that great. I fucking hate the Padres, their fans talked so much last off-season for no good reason. But I can't help but to sympathize with where they are at the moment and even wish them luck in the future.
1.Yamamoto 2. Sasaki (i don’t think we’re signing him) 3. Shohei 4. Glasnow 5. Walker buehler 6. Miller disgusting 😭 (Sorry if I spelt names wrong I’m very dumb 💀)
First of all, the Astros cheated just like the Red Sox and got away with. Manfred should've expelled every member of the team but the Astros never lost their title, trophy nor ring and Darvish took full blame for it. Plus the Padres just lost their owner and their payroll was going to be lowered so blaming AJ Preller isn't going to solve anything. Re-signing Soto wasn't going to be an option so they traded him. AJ knew he wasn't getting Ohtani nor Yamamoto and signed Matsui instead. Rather a bold move considering their new budget. Losing Hader, Snell, Wacha and Lugo was devastating and the Padres definitely need an innings eater in their rotation and a big lefty bat.
Hader signed with the Astros on 1/20. The Padres are acting the Red Sox have been of late. Acting like a small market team when they have the money to spend on big free agents. And they don't have any past championships to fall back on. I do feel bad for Padres fans. It seems like it's always one step forward, two steps back.
Yes the Astros cheated, thats a known fact. But the reason he didn’t resign with the team, was because at the time fans were mad. Obviously looking back on it, it wasn’t his fault. But that IS the reason he left LA.

1000 percent my bad. I didn’t really take into account how bad that the TV Loss was
also the owner of the team died
It should definitely be explained in the video that Astros cheated as not everyone knows the timeline. Btw, the Padres started tightening their budget even before the owner’s death. The biggest culprit is the demise of Bally Sports.
The Padres lied to Yu. That pretty much sums up the organization.

Also the Padres literally have no money to spend. Their tv deal went under and their owner died. They were operating on borrowed time and lost their window to spend to compete. Also being bankrupt has something to do with it too.
@@jdsthird they are not even close to bankrupt. No major sport team in the big 3 in the US is even capable of being bankrupt.
Give me a break.

At the time I thought he choked big time, but when the cheating became known I felt he got a raw deal.
The GM said that it'll be fine and won’t be a problem. That’s why I signed the new contract with the Padres.
Then, I guess we had various (financial) problems this year, including the broadcasting fee issue. It’s just sad and I’m disappointed that the Padres didn’t make a move to get Ohtani and Yamamoto. Not even a simple meeting. I feel a little betrayed, and i'm bummed out about it,”
ALSO, in the same post Darvish does talk about the Dodgers
“I was with the Dodgers, they play smart and I know how hard they all work and play, but that’s why I want to beat them (and so many others)”
And he did end it with
“But, we got Matsui, so we will do our absolute best. I love Ohtani and Yamamoto, so I’m just happy to be playing ball with them”
With the passing of our active owner Peter Seidler, the Padres have almost new ownership with his family taking over. It’s almost identical to the Yankees when George Steinbrenner passed.
He didnt choke, he got cheated by the cheaters Astros.
Signing Xander
Extending cronenworth
Extending Manny
No TV deal
Hurt getting Ohtani and / or Yamamoto
If AJ was serious about Ohtani and Yamamoto, he would have planned for it 3-5 years ago. 🤷♂️
Bingo
Now that could be because they have a bunch of bad contracts and thus are broke (which I personally don't tend to believe that a big market team is broke, the Mets and Dodgers have spent more money and are willing to spend even more) or because "new" ownership isn't interested in spending as they are not yet sure what to do with the team, because it's not in a good situation if you don't intend to continue to spend like Peter did.
darvish being mad they didnt land ohtani and yamamoto is not the ownerships fault at all. the team should have been better.
I guess It's too bad that he decided to sign that 6-year extension I guess because it sounds to me like he wishes he could be with them.🤔🤨 He ran into the Asstros in 2017 and got robbed of a title but why care about what another man is doing? Do you Yu 😜😁😂
The Padres' owner was the only person who gave a shit about the franchise among the leadership apparently.
Nah. /
The Padres owner passing away and their regional sport’s network deal falling through due to bankruptcy has changed the trajectory of the team in terms of spending.
When Ohtani signed with the Dodgers and then called Yamamoto to come join him, it was over. No the Padres never talked to him, but NEITHER DID YU!
Padres had to take out a loan to pay for contracts last year, they dont have the money for anyone right now
They took loans cuz Bally went bankrupt. With how loaded our farm is, I think we'll be okay next year. Definitely more depth than we had in 23 with no sleepy Bomid on the mound.
@@FujiwaramoguuNo we are broke because of AJ Tingler Preller’s atrocious contracts and incompetence in the front office.
@@Fujiwaramoguu We are broke. Review the finances. MLB has to approve our reduced budget for many years to come because of our debt load. It’s pretty bad. It’s not just one thing it’s multiple factors. I can go through them if you really don’t know.
The Padres over extended themselves because AJ Preller was trying to win a World Series before Peter Seidler passed away.
He's stuck on the Padres for about 15 - 16 mil a year until 2028 - he'll be 41. Though for some reason he will make 21 mil in 2025.
Darvish should have been aware numerically that the contract would have an effect
All merchandise money goes into a pool and is split evenly between all 30 teams.
Padres had to borrow $$ from MLB, so they had to shed salary.
We don’t care about the madres.
@@Hikayuhuy we just gotta hope for the best. Peter's legacy isn't over yet
Pete Seidler dying really thew a monkey wrench in everything, and the Dodgers paying 2 guys a billion dollars is nuts.
Truly awful, losing Seifer is awful man.
Having a horrible person like AJ Tingler Preller for 10 years hasn’t helped either.
As a padres who cares if he’s pissed he should just be happy with the money he got he’s overpaid
Well Game 3 they had a camera in centerfield but Game 7 no excuses especially considering supposedly he was tipping his pitches
There shouldn’t had been a game 7. Game 5 or 6 should’ve been the last game of the series
it didnt matter if they could afford both they didnt want to play for SD and why would they. SD havent made a serious run since they had tony gwen
What the hell did I just hear all of a sudden San Diego is one of the biggest markets I’m born and raised here and I have always heard that we are a small market team. What the hell
He’s recruiting Roki Sasaki and Murakami.
the astros cheated in that world series and season
Wasn't that the year astros were. CHeating? How is that dervish fault
It wasn’t his fault, but at the time he was blamed (no one knew the Astros cheated until the end of 2019)
There’s a clear reason that we didn’t have a meeting with those guys. Because when the time came we simply couldn’t afford them
Would be cool if Giants can trade for Darvish, sign Murakami, Imanaga, and Sasaki. Giants Vs Dodgers with Japanese players would be dope!
It's not a fire sale 💀💀 they just traded Soto for value as they weren't getting him back. They're not trading their #2 in their rotation
@@CarsonWalker-t3w it can be 🤗🤗🤗🤗
They didn't lie, our owner died... there are so many legalities that come with handing off ownership of anything when someone passes let alone an MLB TEAM! CMON...
Didn't mention that the Astros cheated
Theyre not trading either. Theyre resetting the CBT number. Learn ball before you try and act like youre the team accountant
One of the biggest stories in MLB. Yes, i’m going to put it out. If the people are talking about it, content is worth being made.
@@PurelyBaseballYT “one of the biggest stories”? Who else is talking about “Yu Darvish being upset about the Padres not signing Ohtani/Yamamoto”? It’s a non-story that you fabricated for clicks. Boo.
But I can't help but to sympathize with where they are at the moment and even wish them luck in the future.
umm the padres are not now never were and never will be a “large market” team ..
San Diego had pull for ohtani with Darvish. But they didn’t even try. That’s sad.
1.Yamamoto
2. Sasaki (i don’t think we’re signing him)
3. Shohei
4. Glasnow
5. Walker buehler
6. Miller
disgusting 😭
(Sorry if I spelt names wrong I’m very dumb 💀)
The Cheastros are the cause of all of this. He should take it up with all those guys.
What a dumb video. Not factual and full of opinions from someone who obviously just doesn’t like the Padres.
The Astros were cheating by stealing signs. Yu Darvish, and Clayton Keyshawn were awful because the astros knew what pitch was coming.
darvish will never have a world series attempt like he did with the dodgers ever again. the padres will never win.
Padres TV situation changed their finances. No chance they are going to spend $1b for two guys.
Interestingly, Preller is the grandson of the late Walter O'Malley and nephew of Peter O'Malley.
He gave up 8 rubs in 3 innings. I wonder how that happened 😂
I think it wasn’t going to affect them going after these players but then seidler died and it changed things but I could be wrong
We were broke before Peter died.
