Who is Intergalactic New Adventures Skeletor in Masters of the Universe Classic? PLUS Damaged Faker!

- Scott Toy Guru Neitlich from Spector Creative continues his hit series "Director's Commentary" on the entire MOTUC toy line from Mattel. This episode is a bit of a 2fer with both a new spacey Skeletor AND "battle damaged" Faker through a cool extra bonus head!
I think packing in other figures accessories with other figures was a genius move. I especially love it when castle Grayskull wasn’t complete without some of the figures that go with it. I loved it. Super7 miss this opportunity with Snake Mountain
My big toy regret was not seeing MOTUC through to the end. I was all in for the first couple of years, then I sold it off because it became too daunting. I’ve recently gone back and picked up some favourites from the line and damn have they gone up in price. Still the best figure line ever made.
I always appreciated how you tied all the stories together. It helped to make one cohesive universe. Multiverses are fun and all, but this worked well for me.
Never watched New Adventures. But if it had been like your toys background it would have been watchable.
I was a 90s kid so had videos of Filmation and new Adventures and watched them both on loop. I loved them both. Their mistake was, I think, changing the figures scale- if the toys had been compatible I think they would have caught on a lot more.
I tried to get into the He-Man toys and the New Adventure cartoon when they came out, but I just couldn't. The scale and detail on the figures didn't mesh with the original MOTU figures I had, and the cartoon was so different, it was jarring to me. It had its moments, and Skeletor could frighteningly go from utterly charming to I Will End You in a flash, but I just couldn't sustain the enthusiasm when I was a kid.
I tried again with the 30th Anniversary DVD set, which contained the "Best 20" episodes of New Adventures, thinking I could come at it more objectively after a couple of decades away, but nothing doing. I could cope with an Orko and a Cringer and an occasional young character in the Filmation series, but the four scientists, two robots, and a couple of kids were just Too Many Orkos at once.
I'm really hoping Skeletor looks like this or similar to this in Masters of the Universe: Revolution. Especially since they took inspiration from Classics with the whole Skeletor gets infected with the Techno-Organic virus from Hordak to become a cyborg like version of himself. But then again, I have a fleeting suspicion that Revolution is going to bring in several New Adventures designs and technology based concepts for season two.
I will admit. Galactic Skelly wasn't far from being a favorite figure from Classics. That huge torso really made him look weird. But glad we got battle damaged Faker head
I love that Battle damaged head Faker. I usually back then kept my figures in the boxes, but I opened this one jsut becuase I wanted to put the head on Battle Armor Faker, and I must say it is perfect. Battle Armor Faker does not get the love it deserves.
As for you trying to tie the continuity with Skeletor into NA Skeletor. You guys, deserves big credits for tying everything together. It was an almost impossible task. But you did it and it worked for 99% o the time. Only thing I was not gaga over was the cloning of He-Man's sword so She-RA could get one. But other than that. You guys were perfect. And I feel that you do not get nearly the credit you deserve.
I think you guys really hit it out of the park with this figure. It’s one of the best Skeletor’s out there - you really captured the body horror of his design!
Skeletor: "Grayskull houses all the secrets of the universe, who ever controls it, is a Master of the Universe!"
Hordak: Oh hey, Skeletor, the Horde spans the entire universe, and would be much harder to gain control of.

lol whut? .... getting into a castle and doing some reading / pilfering has GOT to be easier than finding, and controlling an already established empire ...
I got this figure from BBTS. Luckily, I had/have Faker too. So bonus head was awesome.
I really wish the Four Horsemen had been involved in Origins... their sculpting, as demonstrated on this figure, is amazing
Classics New Adventures Skeletor was my favorite Skeletor of the entire line. Unlike the regular Classics which you can "add" accessories to make him unique. Just this variant by himself was worth it. Loved the detail in the head sculpt and the helmet.
Another great thing about the battle damaged pack-in head was that it had the proper orange hair color, unlike the original Classics Faker whose hair was brown.

This is my favorite Skeletor action figure of all time. Every detail is just so amazing, and the torso makes him look like Immortan Joe from Mad Max: Fury Road, lol.

Personally, I think that whenever a fan calls something “a slap in the face,” they should actually be slapped in the face.
I'll agree, but with an asterisk, because I think that it should be judged on a case-by-case basis. Every time a Vintage-Only-Then-Out whiner complained about a slot being "wasted," then absolutely! But the whole "blastic" debacle, for example, did severely lessen the quality of the line for a while, and should be considered a legitimate gripe.

I had to chuckle at the photo selection early on in the video, quite a few of those images looked like they were taken from Ebay.
Also, that Masterverse Skeleton actually looks really good to me! This may be the first time I swap out a MOTUC figure out in my display.
I've been buying a few masterverse figures to "augment" my Classics collection. I recently took the armour, dagger, and helmet from the Masterverse "Barbarian" He-Man, the hair from a Vykron, the head of an Oo-Larr, and spludged them onto a MOTUC He-Man body with a bit of paint, glue, and some fake leather scraps to make "Guerreror, the Wandering He-Man," based on Tony Guerrero's original prorotype.
Gotta say, some of the Masterverse stuff can work really well on the Classics figures!
Thanks for the tip! I've seen a few of Pixeldan's comparisons and just dismissed the line as inferior. I'll have to check them out.
@@Gareth25z Happy to help, mate! The weapons' handles are considerably thicker on the Masterverse releases, and the heads don't transfer over properly because of the different socket sizes, but on the upside, the shields don't have ultra-tight, paint-scraping clips, and the armour fits remarkably well. I look forward to trying some more customising experiments next time I'm home.
It’s a shame it was another example of the shoulders getting reversed.

Fun video! Thank you! I'm glad you pushed back on the damaged Faker Head, because it's going to make my eventual custom version that much easier to make. Armour bloat aside, I really enjoyed this version of Skeletor, especially since he was now in-scale with the rest of the MOTU line.
Can't remember if I got New Adventures Skeletor. I guess I'm in the minority, I never wanted nor saw the appeal of a battle damaged Faker. Battle Armor Faker is a different subject for another time.
What I. Didn't like about the ending of Story. Line is that at the end. By skelletor saying. Screw. Eternia there are better things out there. It does feministas the I mente magicsl.power that eternia suppose to have.

It's to bad that some characters didn't get a new torso to keep the removable armor. Not all characters need removable armor. This was one of them.
Great figure, although a part of me does miss the cartoon googly eyes.
