Ever wondered who owns Nirvana? How was the revenue split when Kurt was alive and how was it handled after his death? How much did Frances Bean inherit? The answers may or may not surprise you.
I found an old letter written by Krist Novaselic & Dave Grohl to all Nirvana fans detailing their desire to bring fans new material and their struggles with trying to get Courtney Love to comply with those desires.

Kurt would've been a social justice warrior who would've been against Trump and possibly an Illuminati sell-out like the Foo Fighters are today, playing Wembley stadium, while everyone in the crowd is separated 6 6 6 feet apart, wearing their little Covid masks and hopping up and down while filming him play a really dull, boring, overplayed, unexcited version of Teen Spirit on their G5 smartphone... Yuck, gross and no thanks.

Totally agree that Rosemary Carroll is suspicious - and therefore her husband, too. They were industry moguls connected to the label which saw to it that Courtney became their top act directly upon Kurt's death. There were a lot of business types at Geffen that Kurt was infuriating with his behavior - the recording and mixing of In Utero, dropping out of Lollapalooza, etc. - and I think Courtney and people from DGC saw to it that Kurt was removed from existence. They helped her out by controlling the narrative on MTV and in the media. I think they had a mutual problem and she was told that if she took care of it she would be the biggest star in the world. That happened upon Kurt's death and Nirvana sales went through the roof for years. They - Courtney and the label - gained incredibly from Kurt's extremely suspicious demise.

This is a very interesting take. As someone who grew up in Olympia,
seeing just how commercialized Nirvana is now, I can tell you that it is far, far removed from the roots Kurt seemed desperate to hold on to. Yeah I’ve bought my fair share of Nirvana stuff but it’s definitely strange seeing Kurt’s possessions behind glass at the Mo Pop museum in Seattle. Or his diary published for everyone to read. I feel that Kurt would be sad to see how his wife and record label ballooned his life to myth.

      Total Mind F××K.
Especially for those of us who actually remember that week, remembering when he went missing and feeling anxiety and then followed by shock and confusion on the day they found him. I was just 13 years old, and although I don't remember the whole day clearly, I do remember that moment watching Kurt Loder tell the world that Kurt was dead.
I remember being upset and telling my mom, she tried to comfort me by telling me how upset she was on the day John Lennon died. She told me that she was bottle feeding me (I was about 3 & a half months old) when the news broke that John Lennon died. She said that she was crying so hard that my aunt had to take me.
It's crazy how deeply an artist can effect us.
I certainly felt and still feel grief over Kurt's death; and also with Chris Cornell, for whom I had a similar reaction of shock, followed by grief and confusion.

Either way his family should have been established and taking care of THEMSELVES before he got famous. Just because you may have a celebrity family member doesn't make you entitled to their "wealth". Kurt was only responsible for himself, Frances (in his self loathing drug haze he atleast made sure she would get royalties) , and Courtney. Whether y'all like her or not. So he DID make sure sure his family/daughter was taken care of. The rest are adults that should take care of themselves. Who should have made all Nirvana’s money -- fucking Geffen?! Why don’t you ask how many people at Geffen Nirvana’s quarterly earnings paid for... and then talk about how they should, “help themselves.” Besides, Love did exactly nothing to earn any rights to --THE BAND’S MONEY.
What Dave and Krist should have done is take Courtney to court and show that she wasn’t mentally equipped to handle the estate. That would be easy, as Love had an open public record of debauched behavior and PLENTY of people to disliked her who would’ve corroborated the claim.
With Dave and Krist as executors of the will they could give Love a monthly stipend and ensure that Kurt’s then little girl would, upon reaching 18, have enough money to have generational wealth.

In my opinion he dind't really want to divorce her even if he recently found out about Dando, he was still in love as bad as it can sound. I've been in love with a crazy narcisist for many years in my twenties and almost ended up marrying her, I know how it feels, they are hard to remove from your life if u're a nice guy. As far as I'm aware from the books that I've read. Rosemary Carol did type up the new will but Kurt never got the chance to sign it. Could be wrong but that's what I've read.👍

This is exactly what Courtney had always wanted to do with her life - marry a rich rock star and get all his money, and live in a French chateau and do drugs. There's a documentary that shows an old friend of hers going through a trunk of Courtney's old stuff with a letter inside Courtney wrote about how she wanted to leach of a rock stars legacy, and complained about how women were mistreated and overlooked and deserved more in rock & roll. Kurt was probably easy pickins, being a feminist and wanting to push female acts more. Wouldn't doubt he helped her write most of Live Through This. She met him on tour in Europe and there is video of her laying on the stage while they performed. What a shame that crazy wench is so greedy, but I'm sure even with all the money she is a miserable person.

I dont want to come across as facetious or arrogant but im a new lawyer, which you can either take as im inexperienced or that i just passed the hardest bar exam in the country, maybe both, and there are quite a few errors in here.
I cant question your research but theres a lot of legalese you use incorrectly.
If a person dies without a will its referred to as dying intestate. This is where ill take your word but itd be odd for someone worth as much as Kurt, regardless of age or in his case a very bad addiction, to die without a will. Rosemary Carol was likely his buisness attorney and an entertainment lawyer and wouldnt have known how to draft a personal last will. And wasnt she also courtneys attorney? If so, any will she wrote could be contested for a conflict of interest until the end of time. Also he called her in March and died in April. It takes months to write out a "normal" will, no less for someone with so much assets and buisness relationships. Itd take months just to catalof his guitars and put a dollar value on them no less future publishing rights and all that juicy stuff. They owned two vacation houses. Just saying they had a lot of stuff between them.
An executor of a will can only be named by the primary party. In California if you die intestate your stuff is equally divided among your living spouse and children, which in kurts case was an easy 50 -50. Im not sure about Washington but this is how it works in the majority of states as well.
Wills and trusts are probably the most complicated area of to practice. You need to know about property law, contract law, wills and trusts, family law, elder law and so on it goes depending on the client.
In her spew of bullshit about Kurt's sister living under the bridge Kurt himself never lived under while Dave Grohl bought an Astin Martin she makes an importantpoint, and that is dont die intestate because your loved ones can literally be left in the cold while those you had only buisness relationships canget rewarded with the fruits of your labor.
Put yourself in a judge's shoes...a wealthy, married young man dies unexpectedly intestate. His wife is actively in the same buisness as him. Why would you hesitate to give her the rights you had in that buisness? Shes expirienced, close enough to the primary party to assume she knows best how to handle his dealings and only getting 33% of a larger pie. His only other dependent is a toddler. Of course you let her have it.
    Make a will people.

Great topic. Related to something I was trying to find out recently. How much more money did they make after Kurts death? I guess you can say cause of his death. Say he really did want to quit the band, and focus more on acoustic music, would there still be this huge following now? Would we still see people wearing nirvana t shirts daily? I think most of us know Kurt did not kill himself, and Courtney did have something to do with it, somehow, and for some reason. Sadly we will never know. I always wonder how were they even together. They seemed so different, and not in a good way. Even though I read he tried heroin before, I think when he met her, she had alot more access, knew alot of people in that scene and different dealers all over. It is fun to get high with your bf/gf, at first..
