Quick, simple, and to the point, just what I like. I'm somewhat new to blender and I've been searching for ways to give items a more toony effect and make it look more like something out of a Ghibli film, or anime. Perfection. 👌🏻✨
love this video man, but i wanted to ask since it seems like you'd be able to help' how do you keep your solidify outlines to stay on the model when moving since when i try to rig my model and move it's limbs around the solidify would mess up and disconnect to the model as i move around it's limbs
this can also count as a tutorial to recreating the Bunny Maloney art style without the need to buy the Swift3D program if you decide not to do the shine part at the end of the tutorial.
Fantastic, but pls somebody say something about shadows also. I mean object shadows, not self-shadows, or shades. Can we (or i mean you) make cel-shaded object shadow? Similar to toon-shader, the contact shadow is darker then the casted part.
Hey man, i did the effect, but i can't use the same materials in anoher object. Do i have to create a new one every time i want to do the effect on different objects?
There should be a drop-down menu next to the material's name containing every material in your scene. From there, you can select and use the material on as many objects as you like. However, they will all be the same color. If you want to change the color, you'll have to duplicate the material on your desired object and change the colors on the color ramp. Hope this helps!
How do you handle the stippling-style errors caused by Eevee's new Ray Tracer? It's been my biggest bugbear since 4.2 rolled out, and I still haven't been able to find a one-size-fits-all solution.
I'm glad you liked the tutorial, but unfortunately I don't know if transferring this shader to unreal engine is possible. There might be a way to do so but I am unfamiliar with unreal engine, sorry I couldn't help
There's a couple of ways. On my gumroad, I have toon shaders compatible with textures. If you join the discord, I could probably help you achieve a specific look you may be going for.
I use vseeface, I made the avatar myself. I plan on making a video on it soon If you want a free avatar to use for vseeface, I have one available on my gumroad!
Can I ask how can you make changes to the shader so fast? My "compiling shaders" stalls the whole program for at least 10 seconds every node I add. Maybe my PC is too old? I'm also suspecting that my asset collection from 4.1 may be also compiling for some reason
whenever I'm working on more complicated shaders, my Blender also does that. there might be a way to allocate more processing power to compiling shaders in the preferences menu, but I'm not sure
You can click the duplicate icon next to the material name to make a copy if you want a different color if that's what you mean. Otherwise you can just assign the same material to multiple objects
I don't think it's actually shadow, its like a color on the object which looks like a shadow. Do you know how to create an actual 2d shadow caused by a light source which will change according to the position of our object ?
This shader will change depending on the position of the object. It works by mapping colors over a normal shader using the color ramp. If you look at some of my shorts, you'll see the shader in action reacting to moving light sources!

For a small content creator, the quality of the video is BEYOND great, I love this vid keep it up man.
Thank You!
This was wholesome. I felt joy watching this. I wish you the best :)
So good to see a tutorial for 4.2! I was getting so confused trying to follow tutorials for older versions of Blender. Thanks, man.
Glad it helped!
thanks i love it! so simple and easy^^
Incredible tutorial. Thank You!
I like your voice! It's pretty soothing tbh
Thank you. This used this to clean up old shaders.
Woah… I thought you were famous or something because this is such a great tutorial.
I’m definitely subscribing
Thank you so much, I've been looking for this tutorial for 4.2. 😄
Cool shader and straight to the point tutorial! Thanks for sharing!
FYI: If you don't have the "Shader to RGB" node, you need to switch your render engine to Eevee.
Thank you for your time. Keep at it from one small channel to another I tip my hat to you!
Awesome tutorial, thanks so much! Keep it up, you earned my sub for sure!
I'm glad the video helped, and thank you for the sub!

I fw this channel, earned a sub
Recomendadisimo 👍👍👍
Sirve en blender 3.0.1 tambien :D
Amazing tutorial my friend. Keep up the good work, got yourself a new sub :D
Thanks for the sub!

thank u
Who dun do the green???🤔
thank you

I really thought I could just copy the nodes from this onto my Roblox model and it would work. 😵💫
You have to Baie it
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
yo thanks man
amazing vid but how would i import this into another aplication
what is the purpose of the solidify modifier i dont want to add that to my model i dont get it
It adds the outline to the toon shader!

New Sub, you remember me to a Chafer, thanks

I don't really have one either, its pretty annoying. what I did find works well is more sub divisions and make light sources slightly bigger
When I add the solidify modifier, the model piece fucks up
your thickness value may be set too high or your geometry might have some issues
How can i transfer this toon shader to Unreal Engine ? BTW GREAT TUTORIAL
I'm glad you liked the tutorial, but unfortunately I don't know if transferring this shader to unreal engine is possible. There might be a way to do so but I am unfamiliar with unreal engine, sorry I couldn't help
How do I add textures to the material? I mean specifically to toon shaders like this not materials in general
There's a couple of ways. On my gumroad, I have toon shaders compatible with textures. If you join the discord, I could probably help you achieve a specific look you may be going for.
when i go in material preview it works but when i go in render mode it doesnt do you know how to fix this?
try adjusting the handles on the color ramp, and make sure the light source is hitting the object
how do you that skull character overlay, can u drop a small tutorial?
Sure!
The tutorial is posted!
how do u do the , ur charcter talking at the bottom screen, with 3d effects , can u tell me pls
I use vseeface, I made the avatar myself. I plan on making a video on it soon
If you want a free avatar to use for vseeface, I have one available on my gumroad!
@@anomaly5o5 oh thank you
I love you so fucking much. you really dont know. i love you bro.
Am I missing something here????
can the toon shader work in unreal engine?
Unfortunately, I don't think this transfers to unreal
Can I ask how can you make changes to the shader so fast? My "compiling shaders" stalls the whole program for at least 10 seconds every node I add. Maybe my PC is too old? I'm also suspecting that my asset collection from 4.1 may be also compiling for some reason

@@anomaly5o5 guess I'll stay with 4.1 then, it really kills my workflow 😞
Does anyone know how you can get this to import properly to unity? I only have success with the outline. Tried baking as well, no luck
I don't know how to import materials into unity, whenever i make VTuber models in unity I use a toon shader I found online for VTuber software
How would I implement a texture with this process?
My "Toon Advanced V2" Node group works with textures if you would like to use that, Its free on my gumroad!
do i have to do this for every object i make?
You can click the duplicate icon next to the material name to make a copy if you want a different color if that's what you mean. Otherwise you can just assign the same material to multiple objects
I don't think it's actually shadow, its like a color on the object which looks like a shadow. Do you know how to create an actual 2d shadow caused by a light source which will change according to the position of our object ?

Unless I misunderstood something here
@@anomaly5o5 I mean it should change according to the position of light, not the object.
It does! It just posterises the color of a normal diffuse shader, so it reacts to light like any other shader would just with a cartoony look!
@@anomaly5o5but mine did not work. Idk why ? 😢☹️
Does this Combine well with Textures? wanna know before i do it
I use a different method for toon shaders with textures, you can get my "Toon Advanced V2" node group free on my gumroad!
@@anomaly5o5 thank you!
Glad it helped!
Who dun do the green???🤫
doesnt even work
What seems to be the issue?
