Real musicians and real song writers ughh what lost art it is. Everything now is done by computer. What fun is that? Make the kids put the cell phone down and also cut those damn videogames off too. Take up an instrument 🎸🎷 exercise your FN minds........ I'm sorry people I just got carried away. But can you all understand where I'm coming from?
Talented men. Early 80’s funk was truly underrated. All of the featured albums had modest hits. Sad that Phillipè Wynne would be dead only three years later.
Very true...1980's Both Bootsy's Sweat Band and Ultra Wave, Parliament's Trombipulation, Philippe's Whyne Jamming, Zapp, my favorite female Funk album Parlet's Play Me Or Trade Me, 81's Funkadelic E.S.O.W.B. 82's Computer Games, 83's both Urban Dance Guerillas and You Shouldn't nuff Bit Fish, and Cinderella Theory were all super CLASSICS and NO funk bands could compete (no Rick J, Prince, Lakeside, Cameo, EW&F, One Way, etc couldn't, no diss/or lie)
George is 💯 percent original. This is the first time I have seen him clown during an interview.....Booty & Edible Hazel getting some spotlight, Phillipe Wynn with an unforgettable voice. ( Knee Deep) Maceo & Bootsy both played for James Brown... The Brides of Dr. Funkenstein 👌🏾💯 Play on Maceo !! 🎼🎶🎼
Man this is fantastic, never seen this stuff before! To see George, Bootsy and those guys still in their prime (or close to the end of it, at least) brings back memories. P-Funk filled my parent's household when I was a 17 y.o. kid; that's what we mostly listened to. Thanks for posting this magnificent footage!
As much as I absolutely Love the genius of George Clinton, I think it was a bad career move not only deciding to launch UJRs. @ the time of acquisition of Casablanca Records to Polygram, but honestly, he should've allowed Jessica Cleaves 2B his primier album artist instead of Phillips Wynne. But that's the same year he started free basing & becoming grossly careless with the operation of the "Mothership!!"👽
People forget that funk music was the predecessor of West Coast hip hop and G-Funk. So, a lot of west coast rappers were inspired by this funk musicians because funk music spoke about ghetto lifestyle, women, etc.
lol the interviewer was so annoyed, saying all these passive-aggressive comments to george and the others. He must be a clone of Sir Nose or Rumpofsteelskin in disguise. And idk why this version of sir nose cracks me up so much.
that reporter was like, "what da hell" I understand what funk is but their personas were weird to me.. Philippe looked out of place hanging with them... he should've stayed with the Spinners..
Yes he is and still orchestrating a moment out of it, some high level conceptualizing going on here: '... they don't really know I'm Sir Nose*, they all think I'm Uncle Jam ... get Maceo to blow a little bit and Imma tape it on my tape recorder and sell it ...'. Absolute genius. Also echoed here two decades later on a Prince tour ruclips.net/video/TJZw0XHngGw/видео.html [* Sir Nose = cocaine]
Fabulous. The impropmtu Maceo vamp at the end was wonderful. Those boys had swagger.
I like this video very much!! Thanks so much for sharing it. 💕💕👍💖🧡
The way they left at the end😎
So Cool!
There needs to be more funk like this in this world

@@yvonnewalrond5014 Louis St. Jacques finally killed the funk by 2000😞
Now all we have is auto-tune and twerking over silly beats with too much moog.
George's commitment to his characters was inspiring.
Philippe left one group with four dudes to join a group with 100 dudes plus lol
Dude said it right . Steppin on toes. "Everybody wants to be a star"

1980 wasn't a bad year for P-funk. Too bad Uncle Jam records didn't hold out

pammish11 ..His drug use also escalated when hanging wit pfunk. He had a heart attack on stage later on.
@pammish11 my beautiful black sister, I don't think you understand FUNK...but anyway much love to you 👍😍
@@tkking188 I agree with her confusion of The Funk, but Wynne was definitely out of place! LOL!
pammish11 wow you’re a beautiful black woman
