- This is my story from Woodstock 99. I just watched the Netflix documentary “Train Wreck: Woodstock 99” and felt compelled to tell my Woodstock experience story and share my photos. I also have a 23 year old glow stick from Woodstock 99, will it still work? Watch to the end to find out.

I was there on Sunday... We lived locally in the Rome area (Vernon to be exact) so we drove over that morning and stayed until the fires began during the Chili Peppers set. Sad to see the peace wall get torn down which was supposed to be for charity... My cousin actually ended up with a huge piece of it and used it for a beer pong table for years after the show lol. I remember Thursday was supposed to be a local act showcase and the start of the all night rave in the hangar building... I was part of the drum circle that was over there with the 5 gallon plastic pails as drums...
My uncle and aunt set up a little concession stand next to their restaurant in Vernon "The Mason Jar" they made grilled cheese sandwiches and sold bottled water. After the first day, a LOT of people were lining up to buy tons of sandwiches and waters for $3... because the vendors were forced by the promoters of Woodstock to charge insane prices...
I remember seeing the grounds Sunday morning after the rain storms came through and the port-a-potties all had overflowed and spilled out into the tents that were across the tamac in the grass between the taxi ways for the runway... I saw a guy jump buck naked into one of the hand washing 'fountains' to take a bath. I wonder if you ran across the guy who was dressed in nothing but a toga and a tube sock walking around with a couple gorgeous girls called "Woodcock" lol.
I only got to see like 5 bands on the one day I was there, but the last day was the good day to go and get a feel for how the whole thing had played out... Luckily I was only 17 so I didn't try to get to deep into the crowds or get caught up in anything too crazy. I just happened to end up about 25 ft from where the first tower got knocked down. They put a bunch of pallets and crap on it and it got set on fire. I looked at my friends and I told them. I'm getting to my car right now and leaving. If you want to see home tomorrow, I expect you to be right behind me...
We got out of the Griffiss Park area just as all the fire trucks, police cars and ambulances were pulling out of their stations on Black River Blvd. I told my friends. Watch the news tomorrow. You're gonna see something crazy... Sure enough, the powder keg ignited and I pulled in to my parents drive way just about 1:30 am... I walked through the door and "Breaking news" Fires break out at Woodstock on the local news. lol.
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing your experience that weekend. I got out around 4am, by then the state troopers in full riot gear had pushed everyone back into the campground area and formed a cordon across the whole site. It was very strange walking past them carrying all my gear but they never stopped me (I could have been hauling out stolen loot). Me and my friends were relieved when we made it back to the car in one piece and drove straight back to Canada 🇨🇦 ✌️
@@PaulieTheWog Yeah you guys were smart how you handled it being so far from home. A crazy stat I heard tossed around locally was Woodstock attributed to a population spike in the Rome area of around 7,000 people who just never left and decided to stay in Rome...
Funnily enough, about 4 months later I came out of Penn Station in New York City with my aunt and uncle who had run that concession stand and saw Madison Square Garden. Turns out Phish was playing a 2 night concert there. We walk past a bunch of the kids outside waiting to get in and all we hear was "HEY! It's the Grilled Cheese Lady!" Like 25 people come running up to say hello because they bought food from them at Woodstock hahahaha. That concert gave me so many good memories even if it did end badly.
@@whatupwhatup4206 multiple reasons. for me it was just a fun thing to do, for others they were doing it for a more spiritual purpose while tripping, I just smoked a bit lol. It just kind of came together with random people. it wasn't pre-planned or anything...
Your a legend for snapping that glow stick!
Thanks, I can’t believe it worked after 23 years. ✌️
So glad I found your video. I'm only 22 but it's really cool to see older generations on RUclips just talking about their younger years and sharing all these cool memories with us. This is the closest we have to a time machine so it was a pleasure hearing you talk about your experience at Woodstock, I felt like I was right there with you. Pretty sure somebody would still buy that glowstick from you even though it doesn't work anymore :)
That’s one of the nicest comments, your too kind. Thanks for watching my video ✌️
I was one of the many tearing down the speaker towers. We all went to have a great time and instantly when me and around 20 people from my town in Connecticut arrived and parked brought plenty of food plenty of water some grills when they told us we couldn't bring anything in we were in shock and had probably like 700 dollars of food for the 3 days for 15 to 20 of us. Today that would be the equivalent of 1600 dollars. We knew and I think everyone else who went that this was not going it end well I knew it 100 percent the vibe changed instantly. Like the Joker said to Murray
"You get, what you fucking deserve"
Im 25 years old and fascinated by this whole event thank you for sharing your story and giving me another view on everything !
I’m glad you found my video and enjoyed it. Check out my other videos on Woodstock 99 for more. Thanks for watching and commenting ✌️❤️
That was a wholesome video man, felt oddly bad that you snapped the glow stick for us but the joy it bought you made it worth it. Great story and great pictures, cheers from the UK!
Thanks mate, I’m glad I saved that glow stick all these years and cracked it on camera. Thanks for watching ✌️
It was an honor to watch him crack it with us.
@Paulie The Wog if he really got it then, it seems iffy for that thing to function over all them years🎉
I was truly shocked when the glow stick lit up, I really thought it was too old to still work but it was a “real” 23 year old glow stick from Woodstock 99 ✌️
I would love to have Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica & RHCP all in one festival again but those days are gone wish I could've gone to 99
It was and epic way to end the nineties. Thanks for watching. ✌️
That actually happened not too long ago minus RATM lol
Louder than life 2018 I think had Korn, LB, Metallica, if you haven't been or heard of LtL I highly recommend it awesome festival probably everything Woodstock 99 should have been, they might be older but they still kick ass and keep up with the younger kids.
Those bands are all still around today, it's possible but unlikely
It was great, beastie boys were spinning too,I saw every band I wanted to see
There's a lot of Metal festivals so it's possible that it can happen
Thanks for the story! My sister's friend and his older brother went to Woodstock 99. We are all Chicagoians.
Brian, my sister's friend, his older brother went to the 94 Woodstock and had a blast. Even with the rain, he said it was so much fun seeing his favorite bands and meeting new people. So he naturally got tickets for himself and invited Brian who was 18 at the time.
They left on the second day. When they got back, we were relieved they were ok but Brian's brother had 2 stitches in his head, someone knocked his head in with glass during limp bizkits performance and brian was dehydrated. They couldnt take it and left Saturday night. They loved seeing their bands but said the atmosphere was chaotic and that you could tell the promoters didnt care about the safety of the concert goers.
His brother said he saw a clearly underage girl doing drugs with 3 older guys who wouldnt stop grabbing her and he went to security and they didnt do much. They just asked if she was ok and for the guys to back off.
I felt bad they had a terrible experience and so many others did as well. But I hear your story and it was nice to hear that you had a good time. Not everyone will have the same experience.
Thanks again ❤
Your very welcome for the story. It was a crazy and chaotic weekend and the promoters did little to protect the attendees. Thanks for sharing your experience. ✌️❤️
I was born on July 30, 1999. Exactly one week after the first night. Hearing about all the batshit craziness that went down just a few days before i was born is truly mind blowing 🤯 especially since I’m an avid music listener and concert goer and a musician myself. It’s amazing hearing the perspective of someone who was actually at the festival and saw everything live. Thank you so much for sharing your story and experience with us🙏. Also it’s crazy that a glow stick that’s a few days older than me can still glow today 🤯
It been so awesome sharing my experience on RUclips, I never would have thought so many people would watch my video. I’m still shocked that the glow stick worked after all these years. Thanks for watching my video ✌️
I just finished watching the Netflix doc the other day and I have been looking around for people sharing their experiences. Thank you for making this video! I’m totally fascinated by what went down that weekend
I have truly enjoyed sharing my Woodstock 99 experience on RUclips. Thanks for watching my video. ✌️
LOL... same here... I graduated high school that year and remember me and my buddies talking about going. We did not go... and I ended up working 16 hours a day that summer doing outside grunt work on a golf course getting built in my area. After seeing the documentary I said thank god I did not go..
Thanks for the video and sharing your experience. I was there also. I worked for a very reputable security company. We were hired for 4 days. I worked four 3 twelve hour shifts (12 noon to 12 am) Thursday through Saturday. I worked from 12 noon until well into the riots were cleared. On Sunday I worked the backstage media area and escorted Willie Nelson to his interview with MTV. I escorted John Entwistle to his tent as he was being interviewed about his history with Woodstock. Most importantly I was the person responsible for the gated fence that let anyone to the backstage area whether on foot or by vehicle. I let the hundreds of NYS Troopers and firefighters into the stage area. It was way too hot. We slept in abandoned housing around the Air Force base. Ironically the biggest complaint was there was no hot running water at any of the housing. Try taking an ice cold shower at 1:00 in the morning after sweating for 12 hours. We were given one inflatable air mattress and 3 "Peace Patrol" t-shirts in our size. Remember 4 long sweaty days, 3 t-shirts. You do that stinky math. I wanted to let you know that many of the hundreds of security guards were hired locally from companies that trained people for 6 hours (I believe the length of the course at the time) and some companies were created just to supply this concert. I have to say that I wish you reported the guard who took your five dollars US to someone. He should have been removed immediately. If you have any questions after all these years I would be happy to field any. The only trouble I encountered wasn't from any of the concertgoers. I was told not to let anyone open both the gates simultaneously leading backstage and to only open one. When I told the driver of the Insane Clown Posse's bus he jumped out, looked me in the eye, and opened the second gate. They weren't paying me enough to fight the ICP and their crew. Not a happy group of people.
@@MarkusandtheMedia Thanks for sharing your experience, I don’t envy anyone who had to work security for the festival. 5 dollars was a great price to pay to not have my stuff searched and or confiscated, honestly I’m glad he took my bribe. It was still an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. ✌️❤️
This is Nima from Iran.
We've never had a huge Rock festival in our country and to watch and learn about Woodstock was really cool. Loved your stories so much. Wish I had a friend like you in my real life and I would listen to you for hours.
I live in a country that is fighting for freedom and hopefully someday, there will be music festivals here in Iran as well.
Thanks again for your video.
Thank you so much for your very kind words. I hope Iran 🇮🇷 gets freedom from theocracy and all the people of Iran will be free to live in peace. I am very happy that you enjoyed my video and I wish you good fortune. ✌️
Despite what some people say, you're all in our minds in the United States. We hope you get the freedom you're fighting for!
I really enjoyed watching your documentary! You did great and thank you for cracking the glow stick! Thank You for sharing all your memories.
I never thought the glow stick would work after all this time. Thanks for watching and your kind words. ✌️
Being an early X’r and even older than you, I had gone to 94’ and drove 24 hours straight to do it again in 99’. I was there and had a great time watching the bands I was there to see and a few of the newer ones. I did see the problems brewing and also had to run to get my stuff after the Pepper’s performance. The gates were closed as we fell asleep to the sounds of mayhem in the background. We drove around the perimeter as the gates were opened at daybreak and were shocked to see the disaster left behind. It’s a shame how it ended, but for me it was an unforgettable experience.
Definitely unforgettable, thanks for watching.
Excellent video - thanks for sharing- watched the Netflix documentary last night and was blown away- great to hear from someone who was actually there!
@@Hillclimber001 Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. It was the best experience and the worst experience all at the same time. ✌️❤️
I was at 99 too. Loved it. Good to finally hear another reasonably positive review. Sure the weather was brutal, prices sucked, bathrooms were beyond gross but there were a ton of things that made the weekend great. I feel a big problem was the bands they chose to perform. Heavy, raucous acts that have nothing to do with the Woodstock theme. Songs like Seek & Destroy, Killing in the Name & Porno Creep don't really foster the kumbaya imagery the the original Woodstock does. Don't get me wrong, they were fantastic. Everyone loves to hate on Limp Bizkit but that night they were gods. What I'd do to be able to go back ...
it was an epic snapshot in time never to be repeated. Thanks for watching ✌️
I turned 31 in 1999, and I was raising young children. I missed out on this. It was nice to hear about it from someone who went. Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome, thanks for watching ✌️
People have theories on why Woodstock 99 went so wrong, but the bottom line is it was 100% the fault of Michael Lang and the producers of the event. They should have used trained police officers as security, limited the event to 100,000 people, had it somewhere other than an air base (which was a toxic waste dump prior to the festival) , allowed concert goers to bring in their own food and water, had way more Porto potties and not placed them near the drinking water and control over the venders and their pricing. It wasn't young entitled white males, it wasn't the bands, let alone limp biztkit or Fred Durst. It was a pure greed. Plain and simple. My parents attended the original 69 Woodstock and they said it was also a disaster. They've told me a few horror stories. They met a lot of nice people and said some of the music was great, but there were a lot of bad things that went down. The media doesn't like to shine a negative light on the event because it still makes money. I am writing a tell all book about all of the Woodstocks and the dark hidden secrets which should be completed by next year. It's called "back to the gardens of hell"
It was definitely the fault of the promoters, the blame should only be on them. Thanks for watching. ✌️
What bad stories, becousr yea when you whach, its presented like fucking paradise, whhat hapend
Q
I agree the promoters caused all the BS that happened! Way too many drunk idiots in that fiasco crowd. Not enough, restroom facilities, security! The documentary on Netflix was disturbing! I watched it all. I never knew this happened.
After watching trainwreck i already suspected that about 69 -- it's very naive to think otherwise, these festivals were all poorly executed.
Thank you so much for posting this fellow Woodstock 99 brother! My three friends and I were there too. For three 20 year olds from rural, north Idaho this concert festival was an unbelievable experience. I get so tired of trying to defend how great this music festival really was despite all the negative publicity it’s gotten over the last 24 years.
You are very welcome. It really was amazing but some people just focus on the negative. Those of us that were there know how truly epic it was. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience as well ✌️
@@PaulieTheWog for sure, bro. If you ever make another video where you interview other people who were at the show? I’d be more than happy to talk about my experiences. I’m definitely watching your other Woodstock video as well.
I will keep that in mind, I do think I might make a few more videos on Woodstock 99 in the future. Thanks again for watching my videos ✌️
Rite on Brother... Maybe your one of the random folk.. I spent some time with..
And have some good old memories of....
Man I miss this era of my life. The late 90s early 2000s were amazing
Good times, thanks for watching ✌️
imao everyting was great until 9/11 2011.......
2001 of course....
I love the music playing with the photos. Felt like I was there at times. The heat, the mess, the laughs, the disorganisation and craziness, and excitement. Amazing to have been a part of it.
It was a wild weekend, one of the best of my life despite it all. I’m glad you enjoyed my video and I’m super happy I made it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. ✌️
Dude awesome.. We had the time of our lives at Woodstock 99.. We didn't find out we had a "bad time" until Monday afternoon when the news and Mtv told us it sucked... Good job man.. We'll never forget that weekend.
Thanks, it really was a blast. ✌️
I missed it but I was at Summer Sanitarium in Baltimore on 4th of July which had Powerman 5000, System of a Down, Kid Rock (with Joe C.) Korn and then METALLICA. It was amazing.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 Powerman 5000!!.. blast from the past ! "You got no fiction if you got no fact"
I can feel that glow stick being passed around in 99 I'm in utter maze that it glows and I'm really happy that you showed us that, awesome way to cap the video thank you. And thanks you for your awesome story on your experience there 🤙♥️
Thanks so much for your kind words. I still can’t believe that a 23 year old glow stick actually worked. Thanks for watching to the end. ✌️
Thank you for sharing your experience. I wish more folks would share like you. I was born in 1990 and loved all these bands as a young boy and wish I was old enough to attend this festival.
You’re welcome, I am surprised that more people haven’t shared their Woodstock 99 experiences. Thanks for watching my story ✌️
Wow! Thanks for your storytelling. I really appreciate the positive perspective you brought that nicely counteracts what I’ve seen in the documentaries and in the media. You seem like a very down to earth guy. The happiness I felt watching your glow stick actually glow after 23 years was eclipsed by watching YOUR joy that it still worked 💗 Peace.
Thank you so much for your super kind comments. Glad I decided to crack my glow stick for the video, I can’t think of a better time to use it. Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing to my channel. ✌️
My experience was similar to his. It was amazing. I watched the documentary and It’s true water was $8 a bottle. The bathrooms were bad. (I didn’t use them). It was HOT. It was so hot. By day three everything was nasty including the smell of some people. I lived on hemp cookies and hemp nachos because they were cheap.
But it was amazing!!!! I would 1 million percent do it again.
For me I was there to smoke weed and listen to music.
I may or may not know someone who broke open a trailer but by then I was far away walking through miles of cars.
I love hearing stories from other attendees. It’s hard to explain how much it sucked and how awesome it was, all at the same time. Thanks for watching my story ✌️
@@PaulieTheWog in my memories there was way too much good stuff to dwell on the bad stuff. By Sunday I hated both the people I came with, but instead of letting it ruin my fun I ditched them and made new friends. When I watched the documentary I could practically smell it lol. I had forgotten just how nasty and rapey it was. I just remember having the time of my life!!!!
@@nicoleroderick5685 I spent most of the weekend by myself, only meeting up with the people I went with back at our tents. Looking back I truly believe it was the best weekend of my life. Much love to all my fellow Woodstockers. ✌️
I was there too with my daughter. I took her for her high school graduation present. We had a good time. We avoided all the assholes and issues. We found plenty of water. Although we did buy some water at 4.00 a pop. I snuck in some whiskey for myself in a wine sack to mix with soda. The outhouses were really gross 🤮. We arrived Friday afternoon and left on Monday morning. Was able to find outhouses enough to do our duties though. Saw the fires but stayed away. Oh I was 43 at the time my daughter was 18. The bands were great. We saw probably 15 band too. Rusted Root was my favorite. We saw the chili peppers too that was some crazy shit.
It was a great summer and an epic way to end the nineties. Thanks for watching ✌️
nice to see a positive point of view of woodstock 99 and your and friend pictures rocks

Thanks for your super kind words. ✌️
Same like he didn't just for us imagine nobody watched his video and he cracked it that would be sad
@@annika982I’m so glad I cracked the glow stick in my video and I’m blown away by how many people have watched and commented on it. ❤✌️
I was there. The people had turned unoccupied tents into outhouses,I’m sure you witnessed that. By Saturday night they were mudsliding in the overflow from the porta-johns. Thankful it was local to me and we traveled there daily and didn’t stay the night.
You were lucky to be able to leave and not have to camp there. It doesn’t surprise me that people would use empty tents as a restroom given the horrible conditions. Thanks for watching my story and commenting. ✌️❤️
I absolutely loved your story and your pictures. The not so bad side of Woodstock 1999.
Thank you, it wasn’t all bad, a lot of people had a lot of fun. ✌️❤️
Thanks for a trip or a wonderful trip down memory lane very elegantly done we need more of this now Thanks
Thanks for the kind words ✌️
This was a great video, thank you for making it. It was informative, nostalgic and you kept the suspense with the glow stick. I was not at the festival, but I am obsessed with this iconic bit of our generation’s history.
Thanks, I was pretty happy with how it turned out considering it was only one take without edits. After watching the documentaries I felt compelled to make it. ✌️❤️
I just saw the documentary because my brother really wanted me to watch it. I saw it and now I’ve been watching tons of people telling their stories about Woodstock ‘99. Your video is the best one I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing your story. Fun Fact: My dad was thinking about going to the show but couldn’t due to work and living far from New York.
Thank you for the compliment, I’m really glad that my story has resonated with so many people. The best decision I made was to tell my story on RUclips. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. ✌️❤️
5:44 "anyways, i digest" made me so happy 🌸❤️....glad it was the festival of a lifetime for you! i was in awe with the documentary.
edit: made it all the way to the end!! ✨️ 🤣
Lol…I caught that too but decided to leave it in, but I digress. 😜 Thanks for watching.
I was to young to drink... Thank God. My very first Jedi trick, was not pooping for 4 days. To this day, I have not seen more people, nor more police in one spot. My best friend killed himself a a year later, but at least he lived while he was alive. Requiescat in pace Brian, love you man.
Great video Pauli, thank you for taking me back man!

Hehe I used those same exact glowsticks while in the US Army at this time. I can't believe it's getting on over 20 years ago. The 90's were simply a GREAT decade to be a teenager/young person. It just feels like our world has grown quite a bit darker since IMHO 9/11 killed off the 90's buzz from which we've never recovered. Great story of your own experience and the glowstick was a really nice moment of connectivity.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Yep, there’s no going back, just some great memories. ✌️

@@PaulieTheWog ...am I imagining this but that dude in your thumbnail looks awfully Ryan Gosling-ish, and he's from London, Ontario as well, meh?!, could be a dastardly look-alike but gosh, the uncanny resemblance, anywhos, great fun man, even greater pictures, and that 'trench mouth's bit, unreal man, oh those poor, thirsting, money-wrung kids, all frustrated and STILL they drank the water, didn't Dave Matthews actually play..."Don't Drink The Water "...helluva tale by friend, see I'm in view of alot of Woodstock '99 footage, the gritty and sunbaked, the mind derailed and those yet on a collision course with thier drug of choice, the uninitiated to the most seasoned festival goer, and to the constant for everyone: the heat!! The price gouging. The water prices. Incredible!
@@KymCarr-iu6pn I actually have no idea who that guy was, I just stopped to take a picture of the beautiful ladies on each side of him. It would have been hilarious if it was Ryan Gosling but the resemblance is there. It was a really tough weekend in those conditions and it made it difficult to really enjoy the festival. I look back with rose coloured glasses and it was an amazing experience but at the time it was a struggle of survival and just trying to make it through the heat and exhaustion. It truly felt like a right of passage, if you can survive this, then you have been granted access to adulthood. ✌️❤️

Music festivals, especially 3 day camping festivals are so much fun. I would love to visit Germany someday and attend a festival there. People at Woodstock 99 really lost their minds on the last night, no security to stop them. I’m just glad that people were not fighting each other. Thanks for watching my video and listening to my story. ✌️
Thanks for sharing. I’m sure it was an amazing experience! Funny, I noticed in your pictures that you were wearing the hot topic “I’m not as think as you drunk I am” shirt. I had that exact shirt back then, as well! Haha.
Take care
@whodeycinbengals that was a picture of one of my friends. I love looking back at my Woodstock 99 experiences, best memories ever! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. ✌️❤️
I was there,I was 18 at the time, what an experience!!! Also had seen some of those bands several times, it wasn't the music it was how they organized it. Still have my ticket stub and shirts
That’s awesome that you were there too. Better organization would have solved many of the problems for sure. Thanks for watching my video and reliving your experience. ✌️
Very nice. Brings back a lot of memories of the '90s. Just a couple years older than you but I would have never gone even if I was close enough. Wow, I didn't realize how far the stages were apart and didn't think to realize where the camping area may be. The pictures were awesome. Thanks for sharing.
I am glad you enjoyed my story. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. ✌️❤️
An old buddy who once ate 17 mustard sandwiches in one sitting once said that if you tittybang a turnip, the cat will climb down from the tree and now I can't stop thinking about toaster strudels that had aspirations of being more than just a thought at 3am after a garbage can drum solo. Thanks for telling your story man!
🤣😂🤣😂 You’re welcome, thanks for watching my story ✌️
Thanks for the video man. I can tell you really enjoyed your self there and used up your glow for us. I love it. Can feel your emotions from here being a fellow Canadian who attends festivals in America
It was definitely a highlight from my life so far. Thanks for watching my story. ✌️❤️
Wow, great story telling man, I've just been here sitting enjoy listening to you Woodstock 99' experience. You gave lots of details and told us a lot of stuff that wasnt shown on the documentary! I wish, I could've gone to an event like that, maybe they'll have another woodstock in the future!
Thanks for your kind words. I sure hope someone can put one together someday, I would be there. ✌️
I don't think there could ever be a real Woodstock again, there's too much HATE in this world it's a shame, sure would be nice to feel all the peace and love energy, man I'd love it
I agree with you ✌️
My best friend and I were there. Came up from WV. Our tickets were way different. Big yellow with a 70's van and flowers on it. I still have it. Nice hearing someone else's experience. 🤘
I wish I had one of those custom Woodstock 99 tickets instead of my ticket master version. Thanks for watching my story and sharing a comment. ✌️❤️
That was quite a show man. It rained all morning, and then it cleared up in the afternoon. And that's it, I almost remembered something else, but it's gone.
Lol, yep, sounds about right. Thanks for watching. ✌️
Are you Del Preston?
Lmao, I guess I do kinda look like him. 😂🤣😂
I loved this vid so much. My wife and I, also from London Ontario but living in Windsor at the time, went to Woodstock ‘94 - mud fest- . Different experience but much the same as far a corporate over peace and love. Great experience though. Still talking about it today anytime it comes up. We Woodstock people are all brothers and sisters as far as I am concerned. Peace and love.
Small world, glad you enjoyed my story. Woodstock lives in our hearts and spirit forever. Thanks for watching ✌️❤️
Great Stories. Thanks to share this amazing experience you had and all those photos you took. Ps: That glow stick lighting up was incredible.
Thank you so much for the positive comment, and thanks for watching ✌️
I watched every second of this. You are an excellent story teller my friend. There really is something special about printed film that's makes it more enjoyable to look back on over digital stock. I do appreciate you activating the glow stick for us. I got the same big smile you did when it lit. That was an awesome nostalgic trip. Thank you.
God bless you, good Sir. World could use more considerate people like you. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the kind words, I am glad I had the chance to share my story with everyone. ✌️
I went!! I just graduated high school. Sold my new playstation to get the money for the ticket. Me and my two nest friends drove from Eastern Kentucky to Rome Ny with a sheet of pink blotter, 4 cases of coors light, an oz of Kentucky homegrown, and 2 gallons of Jim Beam!! I truly had the time of my life!!!! ✌
Sounds like you had all of the necessary items needed 😂🤣😂 it was such a great way to end the nineties. Thanks for watching ✌️
Great photos ! Thank you ! I wish I had gone to that event ! Glad you made it thru ! The glow stick at the end !!!!
Thanks for your kind words. I’m glad I saved that glow stick and used it in this video. Thank you for watching my story ✌️
Wow i cant believe that glowstick lit up! So cool mustve been a super fun experience. So many of my favorites growing up, korn, rage against the machine, metallica, offspring, bush. Wouldve loved to see those bands play. The documentary makes it seem like it wasnt a good time toward the end haha. Im sure its gonna be different for everyone.
The weekend was full of challenges but overall it was an awesome and memorable experience. Thanks for watching. ✌️
I never thought that old glow stick would work either.
Thanks for sharing these memories, great story telling
No problem, thanks for the compliment and watching my video ✌️
Great video🤘 special the glow stick at the end.
Thank you for the kind words and watching to the end. ✌️
Great videos mannnn!!!! Woodstock lives on through great memories that were made !!! I really appreciate you sharing your Woodstock experience. 🎸
Thank you for your very kind words. It’s been fun sharing my experiences with everyone here on RUclips. ✌️
Thank you for sharing your story. I really appreciate it. The Trainwreck documentary is good. But it's nice to hear an unfiltered take on it from a fellow Canadian. I was super shocked that, that glowstick still worked. Memories that'll last you a lifetime man. Peace and prosperity friend.
Your very welcome, thanks for watching ✌️
This guy seems just like the kind of guy I would want to be at a festive with fun but responsible and very resourceful by the sounds of it I commend you on a great account superbly told
Thanks for the compliment, glad you enjoyed my story. ✌️❤️
I grew up on all these bandz and I love how dmx was there ice cube was there that got overlooked in the Netflix documentary on the HB0 1 they focused a little more on hip hop connections an dmx performance in regards 2 wood stock He had the crowd going crazy god rest his soul
Dmx had an amazing set, and is a legend in his own time. Thanks for watching ✌️
such a shame i couldn't go to Woodstock '99. oh not cause i was busy, because I wasn't even conceived yet 😭
hearing all the stories and the events that happened make me envy the 90's. being born in '02 i couldn't possibly imagine how different things were. maybe one day if Woodstock comes back I'll be waiting in line just like those quarter of a million people back in 1999!
Every generation should get a chance to experience a Woodstock festival. I wish someone could revive it and bring it back but I doubt it will ever happen. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment ✌️❤️
Duuude!! Nice story nice videos and that glow stick is awesome I can't believe it actually did that!!!
You and me both. Thanks for the kind words and watching my video.
I'm 45yrs old and going to Woodstock '99 was the greatest experience of my life, so far nothing has topped it, not even close! This was before cell phones and social media and before music turned to sh!t, so it was just an amazing time.
I couldn’t agree more with you, it was an incredible experience despite all the challenges. Thanks for sharing your story ✌️❤️
lovely video man!! you should post a video with your insights on the bands you watched perform. I believe woodstock 99 was a very historical and mytical concert with glorious performances. Michael Lang sure knew that those kids did the right thing in the end by burning the place down... Woodstock spirit at its finest...✌️
Thanks, I will have a more in-depth video soon covering what bands I saw and more. Subscribe and stay tuned! Thanks for watching ✌️
Brilliant photos, what I would do to go back in time.
Thanks, I’m glad I took the time to take them so we can at least look back at them. ✌️
Damn, so many relics of the turn of the century, i was too young to go to a show like that but i was certainly into a lot of the bands at the time. The story about crossing the border, those were the good old days pre 9/11, canadians and americans could cross the border to and from as they wish, often without a passport.
Yep, no passport needed back then. We didn’t even have to show I.D. Just waved on through. Thanks for watching ✌️
A somehow different view on Woodstock `99. So it wasn`t that chaotic all over the place but sure on some spots. Cool word`s and authentic pictures. Your 23 Year old neon light stick that still worked did put me back in those days for a while. Awsome. I celebrated all those bands, too. It was a somehow phantastic time back then.
Thanks for watching ✌️
Great video! I remember seeing advertisements for Woodstock 99 in magazines and being so bummed I couldn’t go as I lived in the UK. I was 16 at the time and to be honest if I had gone it would have been my 1st concert and young naive me would have probably ended up in hospital or worse! Still I love watching the history of it all, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching, I have a lot of great memories from W99 and could have talked for hours. If this video does well maybe I will make another in-depth video of my experiences.
@@PaulieTheWog That would be great, look forward to that if it does happen!🤘
I was 16 when Woodstock happened and was following updates on MTV. People forget Woodstock 99 was so hyped up beforehand. There was a buzz in the air leading up to the show. So cool you got the chance to go. Great video man!
It was an amazing experience and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to see it in person. Thank you for watching my story and leaving a comment. ✌️❤️
Same I was 13 and watching it religiously on MTV the summer I stayed at my grandparents in Virginia Beach. I loved it. Too young to have gone but damn it was cool seeing on TV
@@honkeetonk203 next best thing to being there. It was a very memorable festival. Thanks for watching and sharing your story. ✌️❤️
@@PaulieTheWogthanks for the upload! Watching you unveil the glowstick. And I love how you captured a Canadian flag in the audience. My Dad was a Newfoundlander and I was able to visit St John’s his hometown chapels cove in 2019.
Anyway … I’m 37 now and I got into Phish about 15 years ago so I went to a lot of their big festivals … another cool one was All Good in 2011 in West Virginia … wooooo .. and Phish Superball 2011 in Watkins Glenn NY.
Thanks for your upload!! Sending likes your way
I feel so jealous man, born in 95, one of my first impact memories was watching MTV news when this happened.
sadly, there wont be an event like this ever
It was pretty awesome, any 3 day camping music festival is pretty awesome. Thanks for watching. ✌️
@@PaulieTheWog appreciate your video man, keep on rocking!
There's still a lot of good festivals.
@@xJavier009 there won't ever be a 3 day festival like Woodstock again but there are heavy music festivals still going on like Louder than Life it's very good I recommend it
22:06 omg I was dying I knew EXACTLY where you were going with that 😂😂👏🏻💨🍃🔥
Yep, smoking those funny smelling cigarettes 🤣😂🤣 Thank you for watching my story ✌️
I was 7 years old in 1999 and my mom, aunt's , and my uncle's , and their wives went there. After watching that documentary I am jealous of them!!! Lmao
It was a challenge but also the best time ever. Thanks for watching ✌️
I was the same age in 99 and I watched all of the coverage on MTV like it was breaking news I used to wish I was older at the time so I could better experience that era of music
Buuuuut now at 30 I say, hey that's okay you guys can have 40 hahahaha
Thanks for the post! Awesome with the glow stick. 23 years. Wow
You’re welcome, thanks for watching ✌️
Great video! I enjoyed it from home watching all the much music coverage hoping to catch glimpse of my favorite bands , Metallica, Korn, Limp Bitzkit at the time. I still have my vhs tape with all the interviews and coverage. Would have been right cool to be there. Rip to the poor fella who didn't make it. Completely disgusted with hearing about all the gropping and poor rape victims 😔. Definitely the truest unbelievable low point of the whole thing. One can only hope them girls are living a good life somewhere and have recovered from what they went through.
Thanks for watching ✌️
Wow ! This was incredible
@@chrisreed4661 It really was. Thanks for watching ✌️❤️
I was 26, was hoping to go but my mate bailed on me. No responsibility in those days, 26 years old and could have gone and I wish I had. Great time the 90's. A much simpler time.
If only we could turn back time. Thanks for watching. ✌️
Great story and photos, I live close to where this was held. I was 5 at the time of this and don't remember much about anything happening but I love hearing and seeing the stories of each experience. Thanks for sharing!
It’s been really fun sharing my experiences with everyone here on RUclips. Thanks for watching my video. ✌️
Great video. Thanks for sharing your stories and memorabilia. I was 18 when i went and it changed my life. The Netflix doc was better than the terrible HBO max one by the Ringer but both of them are just banking on all the negative when there really was alot of love there. I met some amazing people and had an incredible time. I was there till monday morning as well and taking it all in throughout the chaos.
I agree, everyone was peaceful all weekend, even during the chaos I never saw anyone fighting. Thanks for watching. ✌️😊
This was awesome! Thanks so much for your stories and memories. fascinating. :-)
Your welcome, thank you for watching my video. ✌️
I don't consider Woodstock 99 as a failure. The riots happened when the last band left.
Yep, overall it was an epic experience.
31 years old here. I was about 6 or 7 years old when this happened. I always remembered 90s people being way more hardcore than my generation. Really fascinating, part of me wishes I’d been a little older to have been able to experience this.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It was a crazy way to end the nineties, but I’m so glad I got to attend this iconic festival. Despite all the negative events that happened that weekend it was still a great experience I look back on fondly.
You seem to be a really cool guy Paulie! What an awesome video! I watched the netflix documentary and got fascinated by the woodstock 99 story, and being able to hear details from someone who actually attended is just amazing. Btw I loved the part where you loot the looters!!
Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching ✌️
Great video. The pictures say it all. I was there to. I also have some pretty cool pictures. Also still have my ticket and wristband!! I'll never forget what I experienced there or seen lol. One thing is a definite everyone I was with was happy when the sun started to go down, the temps were ridiculous. Still wouldn't change a thing. So much fun it's indescribable unless you were there. The band line up was insane for those 3 days. Good times, good memories
@@Renee-vq7tn I couldn’t agree more, the majority of people who attended had the most memorable experience of their life. I’m glad you found my story and enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. ✌️❤️
🙂✌️🤘
