I’ve had a mild obsession with Woodstock ‘99 the past two days. Been watching some of the sets and came across your videos. Thanks for the stories. It’s cool to hear the perspective of someone who was there for all the stuff I saw in the videos.

Just saw Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 on Netflix and wanted to hear stories of people who actually attended. Awesome you had a blast. Bummer you didn't keep the shirt you loved! I kept all my tees from my favorite band even if they have holes and pit stains. 🤭😂 Thanks for sharing!

Same I have some black concert T-shirts that have actually turned kind of green from so much sun exposure. Some people make big quilt blankets out of them. I can remember a few where I asked for a L T-shirt and it was a youth size like ahh crap no way is this going to fit me. Got about 20 or 30 shirts from concerts.

Loved these videos man. I'm in the uk. Same age as yourself. I don't really remember it at the time but over the years i like watching and hearing all the stories. It was an incredible time to be alive. 💪🏻 I miss those days. Id take those times over these with kids today identifying as dogs!

You must have also been so grateful to ultimately have your own place to goto and return to each night whereas most of the people in “tent city” were in fact attendees that largely couldn’t leave or rather that’s where they only had to return to at night aside from trips to a store but it’s wild to hear your experience versus those I know who hadn’t the option to go off site to sleep and or exist even without having a car to sleep in etc

Wow man the advantage you had was being able to go back home each night. There were 200k people that slept in tents, cars, the ground, ect. They were pretty much stuck there at the mercy of the horrible venue.

I've never seen food vendors with low prices. They've always been high. Remember dad would always get angry at the costly food prices at events, but was very happy to pay for expensive beer. Like dude, I've been standing in line for quite a while give me that $15 meal please!

I’m a gen Xr so older than you. I had been to 94’ and drove 24 hrs straight from Miami with friends to go see our favorite bands like Metallica, Peppers, Rage and so on. Up until the fires, we we’re having an unforgettable weekend. It sucks that bad things were happening under our noses. Having said that, I had seen signs of trouble brewing. Sunday morning bunch of the younger guys were tearing down the wall and breaking the plywood into pieces to keep as souvenirs. I actually grabbed a piece and threw it away a couple of years ago. We fell asleep inside the rental van to the sounds of total mayhem. When the gates were opened at daybreak, we woke up and drove around the perimeter and couldn’t believe the destruction left behind. It’s complicated what happened and hard to justify but I had a blast, personally.

a lot of security had taken off their yellow shirts and joined the crowd and had given up on trying to keep control....2500 port a potties for 400k people wasn't nearly enough....it was the 10k candles that a group gave out for during under the bridge

Godsmack and Megadeth sound fun. Sucks that Aerosmith pulled out that would have been one of the best of this lineup. Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Offspring, Ice Cube all would have been great to see.

I remember finding a buddy at Ozzfest in the Gorge we were separated earlier in the day and it was like a needle in a haystack finding him as well, before cell phones were everywhere. Right at the end in the parking lot cool lets get the F outta here. Couldn't imagine how bad traffic would be at this Woodstock show.

If it is organised properly then why not, you need more space, proper crowd control barriers, police on site as well as double the amount of security, more toilets, you are allowed your own food and drinks and much more.
