      I thought for sure it would've been a talking point. But seems like Korn and Bizkit incited the most frenzy, which makes sense I guess since they were the hot new biggest bands of the time. Metallica was now one of the remaining 80s bands with a bad rap after load/reload

      @@m0nk3yl0v3rHow on earth do you reach the conclusion that Newsted "is" Metallica?
      He was in the band for their most commercial period but it's almost universally agreed their best work is 84 through 88 so he had a part in at most one of their OG great albums. He wasn't there for the return to form that was Death Magnetic and Hardwired. He arrived late and left early, and his poor treatment while wrong is absolutely proof that he *wasn't* Metallica, James and Lars were and at the time still Kirk. He was a cool live player but people say this way too much.

    • @kooijbas
      @kooijbas 2 года назад +11

      That just shows how opinions can vary, because I consider this the low point. In the 80s and early 90s he was basically abusing his voice and he sounded awesome late 80s early 90s. Then he blew out his voice and basically had to relearn how to sing live. I feel that he's still searching and learning here and he sounds better now (2022) then in this recording.
      In fact the whole band is searching for a new identity here. Took them about 13 years (1995-2008).

    My friend showed me this concert when I was in my early teens. Even through the old crappy television with it's old and crappy speakers it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen or heard. Had never seen Metallica live before and this show definitely had an impact on me. I was already listening metal music back then but this stuff really got me hooked on it. I think I've watched this concert and Cunning Stunts a hundred times by now and I still love 'em. To me, this is Metallica in their prime.

      @@PTRK490 I mean James Hatfield was also a massive douche back in the say. He started to mellow out and now he’s loved. Axl hasn’t walked off stage in like 10 years but still gotta keep up with the same cliche joke.

    So just watched the Woodstock 99 documentary on Netflix. They only really showed Korn and Limp Bizkit. Thought they would've showed Metallica because it would've been undoubted crazy as fuck

    The performance of turn the page makes me feel so sad. The band is pouring their hearts out in this song and everyone, Metallica and the crowd giving away every last ounce of energy. Unfortunately little did we know Jason had run out pretty much and the band just about there also. Such a pure Metallica just pure sentiment.

    Fucking hell, they slayed Fight Fire with Fire! Fast and heavy as everything instrumentally, and the vocals are absolutely outstanding too.

    I went to '94 and remember listening to a live radio broadcast of '99. It was hot as balls that weekend in CT. Can't imagine what it was like there. But a drunken heat infested debacle is what being young is all about!

      it was brutal. and being on a decommissioned air force base made it even worse. Baking on the run ways with no natural shade.

      Maybe the rainsoaked mudbath of Woodstock 94 wasn't so bad by comparison. Oh well at least Metallica played at both!
