Hi from Portugal ! That dual battery system works in a very interesting way - the starter motor is 24 volts , but the rest of the electrical system is 12 volts . Behind the passenger side battery , which has a plastic cover , there is a solenoid that connects both batteries in series for the starter , and automatically changes the battery connection to parallel after the engine starts , giving 12 volts . This spec was also sold in Europe , with a few diferences - disc brakes all around , and permanent 4WD , with electrical operated center diff lock , rear screen wipers , one for each door , and rear fog lights , also one for each door . Original tires for this spec are 215/80-16 . Mine is from Jan. 1994 , and sadly does not have AC , front or rear diff locks or mechanical winch . Slow , but reliable , eternal truck ! Yours is a real gem !

In South America, at some point, customers were able to buy this one plus the 3 door 70 series and at some point the 3 door Prado Meru. Good old days !

This is a sweet heart of a old Toyota. Fun fact the Cold weather package also has a fuel filter heater and a window shade looking thing in front of the radiator.

drive mine everyday and I love it! Interesting mines got a tachometre though and no h4 button. All gears are selected by the 2 levers. This one might be different because of the pto winch. Thanks for the vid mate 😎 👍👍

Arakawa / Araco was theoretically an independent company building trucks for Toyota (and only for Toyota since ever...). All series Land Cruisers are made by Araco (Gifu made some special versions like the SW version of the 20 and 40 series).
Araco (and Gifu autobody) were bought by Toyota in the early 2000's and merged in a division called Toyota Autobody. Toyota Autobody works independently from the rest of Toyota, and trucks models (including the Land Cruiser) made by Araco and Gifu are still made in the same factories by the same people.
Land Cruisers participating to the Dakar in stock category used to be registered by the Araco team and now by the "Toyota Autobody team", not by Toyota or GR like the protos.

Almost like mine! It´s a 1991 with bench seat, truck tipe wheels (with a ring, you don´t have to take the tire out ti repair/chnage the tire) in a very goor shape (solid and no rust) but unfortunately with a 4 speed transmission (i will change for a 5 speed, the only improvement It will receive) and a bad front crash, it runs and drives exccellent but I need to change the hood, front fenders and bumper, I´ll try to keep it forever, I love it!

The only issue with the 33 inch tyres is it really ruins the non turbo diesel. They drive a lot nicer with 31s especially going up hills/driving in the city

Wow, you won’t find an 80 series here in Australia with less than 300,000km. Most are above 500,000 nowadays, still a lot on the roads!

US-spec Land Cruisers were always the "weakest" when it came to features and options. Oversea 80-series in pretty much all markets had multiple engine options, depending on model year you had the choice between 3F-E, 1HZ, 1HD-T, 1HD-FT, 1FZ-FE and 1FZ-F (carburator), sub fuel tank option (main tank 95L + 50L sub or 25 gallon main tank + 13 gallon sub tank for a total of 145 L or 38 gallon), dual A/C option, altimeter/compass/sub fuel tank gauge, tailgate or brandoor with or without rear mounted spare, center console fridge/freezer, adjustable electronic damper, electric folding mirrors, multiple grades, manual locking hubs, auto locking hubs parttime 4WD or fulltime 4WD, third row seats in bench configuration, 5-speed manual or automatic, factory winch etc etc.
