    Man, your toy shed is unreal. I think I’m sold on shopping for an 95-97 80. That 62 is so pretty but the more “modern” platform of the later 80s seems the most livable without sacrificing much if any overland readiness. I’m moving up from a gen 1 Tacoma that has done me well, keeping it in the family. Cheers

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  3 года назад +2

      Toyota is one of the only manufacturers who doesn't offer a diesel-powered pickup here as Ford, General Motors, and Fiat-Chrysler all sell midsize or half-ton trucks with compression-ignition lumps. Also its possible the Toyo diesels were not meeting US emissions standards.. For Landcuiser (100,200) at first there wasn't demand, but now they only make 3000 a year...
      However, with diesel demand up and fuel efficiency.
      Toyota is moving away from the V8 and in trucks,, Diesel could be the most effective route to make impressive amounts of torque with smaller displacement and, of course, turbocharging. In the United States Toyota filed a patent last year that appears to describe a high-compression engine, one that might even run on diesel fuel. If it makes its way into either the Tundra or Tacoma-or both-it could significantly boost fuel economy and torque. Appears diesel is on its way, but too late for the Landcruiser which the 300 will not be making it to our shores.😞

      I would look for dealer serviced, no rust southern LC, and timing belt service. Also regular consistent miles overtime... like 12k a year or 15k a year. Not 25k one year and 3k the next... people fall for low mile vehicles but you need to make sure it didn't sit idle for a year. Also check the rear gate door when its down, check the corner where you can see through to the ground. Thats a spot rust likes to start or if in an accident will also rust at the body joint.
