    I take B12 and have for years at the recommendation of Dr. Mcdougall, thanks! I read a Consumer Reports article that there is lax regulation of supplements in this country but they recommend finding supplements that are tested by certain independent labs, and I found one version called Nature Made 2500 mcg B12 that is approved by USP. The article that discusses these independent testing and how to find the supplements is called "How to Choose Supplements Wisely". I am happy so far with my choice. I take 1 pill a week.

    I took a stomach acid reducer for about a year, and ended up with B12 deficiency. I'm on a supplement now.

    Stage 3 colon cancer question - I want to tell you - make raw cabbage, carrot, apple slaw (dressing of fruit and vinegar blended) a regular part of your diet! Add it to your lowfat McDougall diet. About a pound or two of that salad per day is what I would eat if I had colon cancer.

      Is sulforaphane also good to fight colon cancer? You can find research on internet, You Tube, and articles on cruciferous vegetables.
      You could sprout organic broccoli sprouts weekly.
      Directions on internet and look up Dr. Jed Fahey- former researcher of this at Johns Hopkins.

      Did you watch chrisbeatcancer on youtube? He had stage 3 colon cancer in his late 20s and got rid of it through raw plant exclusive diet and without chemotherapy, as he was aware that chemotherapy is what kills you, as it destroys the immune system.

      ​@kenwang9672 Carnavore not a sustainable solution at all! It may help for a few years , but shit happens after we reach a 5 or 10 years at the max. I'm 83 years old, no doctors, no meds, still running around like a healthy teenager while my classmates are all dead or bed ridden using a bed-pan. Thats likely to be most people's future because of extreme unhealthy unsustainable diets.
      I have eaten like my Gandparents ate down on the farm 120 years ago... Fresh and chemical free!
      Yeah!! Fresh for the win!!

      Not related to this, but going off the live chat. Maybe you should watch dr. Peter Rogers 30 point checklist on how meat helps cancers grow. Not all data on meat is confounded, do you really think the WHO would mark it as carcinogen if there wasn't a problem? Besides the high protein count of meat, it also has a lot of fat making our blood thick and our blood cells rigid.

    I personally use the Pur *"Plus"* water filter. (Not to be confused with the Pur filter!) I have the 30 cup dispenser, in my fridge. And.... dinner tonight was 8 cups of cooked white jasmine rice, 2 pounds of orange sweet potatoes, and a crown of broccoli.

      How many cups is that in the measuring cup before you cooked it? Do you actually measure how many cups it is after it's cooked? I'm guessing that you don't. It makes more sense to me to say how many cups it is before you cook it.

      It may be more bio available in red meat but it’s a low concentration to begin with like 2.4 μg Per serving. So even if a supplement is only 1% bio available then a 500 μg supplement would be 5 μg Available which is more than twice a serving of red meat. Context is everything. If your concerned about b12 levels a supplement is the obvious choice! 🙏🖖

      Who care as long as it's working and we still manage to get a good b12 level. Food is a package deal you have higher bioavailability for B12 but also all the negative aspects of meat. Also 33% of meat eater are still b12 deficient cause in animal products, vitamin B12 is attached to a protein, and as people get older, production of the stomach acid that can split this complex of vitamin B12 and protein diminishes.

      The higher the dose the lower the amount is absorbed: the amount from very large supplements is still very high. Supplemental B12 is absorbed better than from foods.

    I hear that soy, flax seeds and too many cruciferous vegetables can block the absorption of iodine by the thyroid. I work hard to make sure I get 150 mgs of iodine daily- cuz my TSH went up when I overdid the 3 foods above for a year. 🥴

    My husband had a turp surgery. It helped him a lot. He was getting to where he could barely pee. Now he has good flow, but doesn't pass semen with ejaculations, but no biggie.

    Is there any good material on mild subclinical B12 deficiency? I.e maybe just a mild anemia and slight tiredness? I suspect that I might have had a very slight subclinical deficiency like that, which I assume because I had some instant slight improvement in how awake and fit I feel, when I started taking a daily low dose B12 ca. 1 month ago.

    Question are you still able to ejaculate after prostate radiation I’ve had it done in 2023 from March until May for 44 treatments and the treatment sure about a minute or so and I’m still OK I’m still producing blew it but my sperm is not milk away anymore it is a clear septage from my understanding it kills the fluid from the prostate however the fluid from the testicles and the seminal vesicles are still active so during sex I can still climax but I’m not sure if I can Prague Nate a woman anymore So this is my question for you your listener Robert Albitre

      Eating the correct diet means that the weight drops off you and stays off you. Obviously you need to continually eat that way but you have no cravings being plant exclusive and no health risks like you have with carnivore and keto. One of the doctors on youtube lost his keto friend a couple of months back aged 45 to a massive heart attack. Was keto for 2 years.
      Dr mcdougall, the speaker in this video had a massive stroke at age 18 from eating the meat and dairy on his parents farm.

      He have a Masterclass about protein. We don't need much vegans get as much as omnivores and the excess protein is converted in glucose or fat.

      It would be extremely hard for even a registered and skilled dietician to make a diet of healthy plant foods only, with sufficient calories, that didn't have enough complete protein. But if you want to have proof just use cronometer to count amino acids in your foods.
      Not all foods in the cronometer database log all the amino acids, though. I have a whole wheat pasta that doesn't log them. You might have to check that the first time you enter a food.

      It depends on how active you are,if you do light activity all day then you wont have to eat as much but you wanna atleast have a meal with enough calories 200 or more.
      As for me once I hit the ground running and I got duties for the day that requires walking back and forth or lifting some heavy objects then I wanna start with like 300 calories a meal then i am good for a while before I can eat again.
      At the end of the day have another meal after dinner,just before bed have some fruit.

      You have to just come up with about 6 diffirent foods you like and make enough to keep in fridge or in your lunch box.
      Rice and beans are a complete protein,you can also argue that but you can live off of potatoes,I did it for months.
      Mixed veggies,broccoli,pasta,potatoes,beans,rice,there's alot other kinds of starch to choose.
      If you wanna lose weight fast then you wanna eat lighter calories,more salads and fruit.
      Increase your normals activety to boost the metabolism,early to bed,early to rise.

    I thought the common knowledge was that the b12 in seaweed is an analogue which can stop your ability to absorb active b12? Id rather not ruin my genetics by taking b12 supplements, id rather do the opposite and push my genetics to be more efficient with the b12 it has.. but dr greger stresses that its VITAL that we take b12? It bothers me that i feel like the only person who thinks not just about my own health but also my future generations, do we really want to evolve to rely on labs for b12 supplements? Or do we want to evolve naturally.. this has been the hardest part about being vegan for me, it bothers me so much.. i feel irresponsible as someone with strong healthy genetics, especially taking information from a bald guy with glasses who probably looked 50 when he was 20.. i feel like the only person that is so bothered by something so fundamental. He even says we need to take 1000mcg a day after 65.. i follow his recommendations.. but it really does sicken me to the core

      He's making sure people with direct absorption problems and/or other relevant prexisting conditions are covered - as Dr M himself points out in this talk.
      Most people need not worry, if they just take occasional supplementation, and/or fortified foods.
      It's sad we have to supplement, but that's because we can't drink steam and river water (now polluted) that contains the B12 bacteria. Also, less likely, but perhaps, also over sanitation of fresh and frozen produce today.
      The very fact we need such a small amount, compared to carbohydrate, protein and even fat levels, suggests we did evolve/were created in a vit B12 poor environment.
      E.g. a whole food places based/starch dominant environment :)

      This is the difference between being plant exclusive or vegan.
      You have a mental illness to be thinking the way you do. Get rid of the processed crap and see the difference.
      As chef AJ says, you're majoring in minor things. Needing to take a supplement to prevent irreversible brain damage is nothing in the scheme of things.
      Dr. Greger also likely looks the way he does because of genetics. You really need to improve your outlook. Your negativity is horrendous.

      It's only a problem with nori and spirulina not with supplements. 33% of meat eater are still b12 deficient cause In animal products, vitamin B12 is attached to a protein, and as people get older, production of the stomach acid that can split this complex of vitamin B12 and protein diminishes.
      Science is not a beauty contest and a study sample with just one individual would be insignificant.
      If you didn't sequenced your all genome you can't really tell if you have good genes

      @@wellthi sequence your genome? Your telling me you've never seen somebody with good genetics.. good looking tanned great personality good at sports and never has any health problems.. I put it down to being mixed race and my ancestors living completely from the land only 200 years ago

      even a blood test will tell you more than the look of a person so a full dna sequencing is the ultimate test
