    Migraines is something I know too much about!!!! My mom, also. I am on a mostly raw, WFPB, SOS-free (actually I do use a tiny bit of organic miso, so I do use this instead of salt). I also wear a 20 pound weighted vest to walk a mile every 2 or 3 days, and I jog a mile most days. Two times a week I do a 15 minute RUclips channel, "Kettlebell HIITT Workout - Fitness Blender HIIT Kettlebell Training" routine. The entire routine is 20 minutes, but I just do the kettlebell portion usually. I also eat a tiny bit of fresh garlic (less than 1/8 teaspoon) if I feel a migraine coming on. If that doesn't help I'll try a bigger dose. Ginger helps also, as does spinach (maybe the magnesium?). I haven't tried barbberies but I've heard it may help. If the garlic is too unpalatable try adding a tablespoon of crushed tomatoes.

      There is a RUclips channel, the “Proof with Simon Hill” that has several podcasts that address treating diabetes with plant based diet. Also, “Physician’s committee for responsible Medicine”. Basically though, it’s about making one’s cells more sensitive to insulin (so that the glucose can be used as it should be and not floating around in the blood stream). Fat in cells block the receptors for insulin. Everyone’s blood sugars will go up after eating. Sugar not going back down (being properly used) is the problem. Wish you well with your health issues!

    • @LouDez
      @LouDez 12 дней назад +4

      Sugar spikes aren’t an issue if it comes back down normally. The point of his diet is to lose weight without starving while having energy from the high carb high fiber low calorie intake. Eating carbs makes your body better at using them, that’s why going keto and fat adapted isn’t a good solution. You want to stay carb adapted instead, better sleep and muscle glycogen if anything.

      Me too! L-theanine and caffeine were like a Godsend, though I do notice a difference in 'optimism' if I don't take them.

    Do you feel someone who had bypass due to occlusion in LAD should continue to take Statins once they are on Starch Solution?

      I had huge issues with my muscles with statins and just hated how I felt taking them. Following John's diet, I've totally gotten rid of statins and in fact have lower levels than when I was taking the statins. So it has worked for me. Hope this helps a little my friend.

    Regarding the temple inflammation, would it be worthwhile to try a raw WFPB, SOS-free diet for a week or two to see if trying the diet with raw food only might work? I've heard the Hippocrates Institute uses a diet like this, but they do use olive oil at Hippocrates, which I do not advocate because even olive oil is processed.

    Why are all doctors want me to eat free oil for health? Olive oil...I am afraid of negative consequences by going all in the mcdougall way. I just want to maintain weight. Are calories important or do I burn more eating your way? Greetz from Germany

      You will lose weight on the mcDougall diet and then stall on your lean weight without having to count calories or eat less. Don't eat olive oil, on one hand they recommend people to not eat saturated fat but forget that olive oil is 12% saturated fat. No oil is healthy, they all have their problems, saturated is bad for the heart and blood vessels and poly unsaturated fats are bad for your brain when they oxidize (which they do pretty quickly). Olive oil is a mono unsaturated fat, meaning it falls in between. It can't be healthy. Just eat olives :).
