This channel is absolutely the best and the information is invaluable for someone going go japan for the first time! I have my very first trip booked for march, thank you for all your help!!
As someone who took many tips from Kensho Quest during our trip in October to November, I feel it’s crucial to figure out a digital IC card on your phone or ways to get a physical one. Should be one of your first steps when you arrive. Every Japan video will advise to bring cash. But we actually had to find ways to spend what we brought because we didn’t need to use it in Tokyo, Kawaguchiko and Kyoto. That said, an IC card worked EVERYWHERE we went. For our next trip, we will only withdraw cash when needed. Of course, we’re probably an exception to the rule with how we travelled.
@@gumerzambrano definitely! And we did, but we ended up using Suica everywhere except for 1 Wagyu resto in Akihabara. They took Suica, but we wanted to experience paying with cash. And towards the end, we were finding excuses to use up our cash because it was much easier to tap the Suica.
Thanks for sharing. We also don't spend much cash in Japan. We mostly use it for topping up our kids physical IC cards. Otherwise, we mostly pay by contactless credit card payment and digital IC card.
@@KenshoQuest can’t express how thankful I am for your videos about Japan. Our trip was fantastic, thanks in large part to your insight. We’re heading back for an overnight layover at Haneda, staying at Villa Fontaine, then a month-long vacation in Manila. Another dedicated Japan trip is in the works, so we’ll polish up your Klook code again 😬 Have a wonderful New Year!!!
On my first trip to Japan last year the only hotels I booked a couple months in advance were my beginning and ending Tokyo hotels. We stayed for a month so wanted to be flexible during the rest of the trip We went during late Jan early February so it was the low season and before tourist numbers exploded
Thanks for the very informative video as usual. How far in advance do you need to register on the Visit Japan website? Getting ready for my first trip and your videos have been really helpful!
Hi. I don't think there is a certain time frame for registering for Visit Japan Web. As long as you have your flight ticket, first hotel booked, and passport, you should be able to complete the process. It's probably best to do it at least a couple days in advance, so it has time to process.
Hello, I registered on the visit Japan web under me and Input family details and each received a QR code. Are we all set without each person separately registering ? Thank you!
Sounds like you did it correctly! You can have everyone under one account. When you use the drop-down to switch to someone else’s name, their QR code should display. Make sure you have your login name and password saved on your phone, so you can sign in to display your codes at immigration. 🌸 Heidi
Both. Credit cards such as Visa/Mastercard are widely accepted in Tokyo. It's also good to have some cash on hand for small restaurants or family-owned shops that only accept cash. Also, recharging a physical plastic IC card can only be done by cash. Here's our video on payment methods that are accepted in Japan: ruclips.net/video/QKX8_MsuYFU/видео.html
Hello, this is very helpful! Much appreciated! By the way, could I please check if I should buy pocket wifi or a prepaid SIM card before visiting Japan?
Hi, glad it's helpful! As for pocket wifi or SIM it depends on your needs. First, is your phone unlocked? I highly recommend you watch this video and if you still have questions, we are here to help :). ruclips.net/video/9t-ubj4jNps/видео.html
Hope one of your viewers will read my comment. We are visiting Kyoto next month. My brother is diabetic. We have to bring his daily meds (metformin & glipizide) Does any of you on here brought the same medication to Japan? If so, please share what documents/letter we need from his doctor. Mahalo!
@@nickyAbi473 7Bank ATMs didn’t charge us fees. But always choose local currency when withdrawing. Also I think you’ll find a Suica very sufficient, so only take out what you need. We had cash handy and had to find excuses to use it as Suica worked everywhere we went.
When you in Japan, signing into your own country Banka account always need 2 way verification such as receiving a verification code through SMS messaqge. How you handle it?
Hi. We each have a GoogleFi phone number that we use to receive SMS text messages while traveling abroad. You might be able to switch to a different type of 2FA if you won’t be able to receive SMS.
Literally about to fly to Japan in 2 hours. Landing in Osaka at 9:35am. Thank you for all the videos, helped to prepare as a solo traveller!

Make sure to book a tour at the imperial palace! We didn't know that is the only way to see the palace

Are Visa/MasterCard widely accepted in Tokyo or is it important to have some Japanese yen in cash?

There are currency exchange counters at the airport. You can also find currency exchange at major train stations and some shopping areas.
