@KenshoQuest it's going well. Only hiccup I'm trying to figure out is I originally planned to take the ferry out of Fukuoka to Busan but it looks like it's suspended. 😅
Thanks for including information on connecting to the 2025 Expo. I am staying in the Umeda area and it looks quite easy to navigate to the Expo site from there.
This is an absolute lifesaver! I knew I wanted to stay near a station, but trying to choose a nice hotel out of the five billion options was giving me a headache. 😵💫
I would like to let you know that I am thankful! This video has helped me out immensely. I will be heading to Japan in the next 4 months, and scoping out hotels, best districts, etc. You were very informative, and especially with helping potential travelers to Japan, with understanding the importance of being near stations., and then labeling which wards are close to one. Again, thank you!!
Agree with staying on the main subway line. Stayed at the Swissotel Nankai Osaka (a bit pricy but worth it) in Namba and walked to many of Osaka’s places to see. The subway station just downstairs made getting around Osaka easy. The direct train from Kansai Airport to the hotel was a big plus. Will be leaving for Haneda AirPort in a few days and I can’t tell you how helpful your videos are. Thanks.
I’m so thankful! Thank you for sharing information about Osaka. We will be visiting Osaka in July, and the informative video you provided gave me a lot of ideas, especially since I have limited time to explore the city. I’m currently struggling with where to book a hotel and which location to choose. Your video saved me from a headache!
the Umeda area is super well connected specifically near Osakatemmangu station, it's one stop and a bit of a walk to Osaka station via Kitashinchi and you have the subway at the same station too, not as expensive as the area closer to Osaka station or Shinsaibashi
Last year, I booked a hotel in honmachi area as it was the cheaper hotel i can find. It was close to shinsaibaishi and namba area to the south, osaka castle to the east, umeda to the north, and osaka aquarium to the west. i was surprised that underneath runs the midosuji and chou lines (took this when I went to Nara to see the deers). Saved me a lot of money and walking time from hotel to train stations. 😂
thanks for this great brief video for Osaka stays. I had visited thrice (3 times) to Osaka and the last one just recently last month (early October) and always staying put a station at Kansai airport. Yes I did stay within 2 to 3 mins walk to a station (Rinku town), and also next to the international airport 😆. While I always do need to travel up and down at least 20 to 30 mins from my hotel but at least it wasn't that crowded. The only drawback was time I need to spend more traveling back and forth. I also kinda prefer to travel less time toward the airport and that's why staying at Rinku town. Another thing is, Rinku town now has great shopping and more activities for families. I was very surprised and pleased to see how much had developed over 20 years. I also enjoy seeing the vast waters nearby and beautiful lightings at night. But i will definitely consider your recommendations for putting up at right inside Osaka city. I love Namba walk, the underground shopping and food street that had gotten myself immersely lost and spending more time inside. With your recommendations, I hope I am able to spend more time at the heart of Osaka city next time, soon hopefully.
Hi, thanks for sharing your knowledge of the Rinku Station and town area. We've never stayed there but do agree it is modernizing and being along the ocean is nice. Definitely a more relaxed area.
This is useful! it will be my first time there soon and it will be around the weekend of the Golden week. Since I tend to drive when I travel, would you suggest to rent a car when traveling around Osaka (will be there for 3 nights before heading to Tokyo)? The places I wish to visit in Osaka falls within what you mentioned (the expo too) and perhaps Nara Park. Primary concern is comfort for my toddler and not being human-sandwiched in trains would be a plus.
Hi, renting a car is certainly an option. However, takes these into consideration: 1) In Japan they drive on the left side. 2) Parking can be hard to find, especially in heavily touristed areas, 3) Hotels usually charge extra for parking ( if they have parking ). For Expo, I don't think you can drive at all, public transport only. The other two places are doable but parking might be a bit out of the way. If you choose to rent, you might want to reserve soon as they tend to run out. We recommend Toyota Rental Car Services. But we do think you will be fine if you choose public transportation. We've taken out toddlers all over without issue. The key is to avoid rush hours between 7-9 AM and 5-7 PM. Have a great trip!
Stayed in Osaka for 3 nights last month as part of my trip to Japan - wish I'd had more time there. Can definitely concur that the Namba area was a good place to stay - I stayed in the Centara Grand, not cheap, but thoroughly recommended (I noticed this hotel briefly appeared in your vid!)
I really wanted to go to Osaka in 2025 but I hesitate with the Expo. I don't especially want to see the expo (why not but it's not my top priority) but I'm afraid the whole city will be too crowded and prices more expensives. Dunno what to think about it.
I've made the mistake of booking a hotel in Nishinari just a few weeks ago without knowing, altough I haven't encountered any major problems while staying, I agree with it not being a very tourist friendly place

Could I please ask opinion about which city to stay, Osaka only or Osaka and Kyoto? We plan to stay 6 nights that area. I am not sure if we better stay all 6 nights in Osaka only or spend 4 nights in Osaka and 2 nights Kyoto. We have a 4 year old with us. Don't know if worth to stay 2 nights in Kyoto as need to move luggage. Thank you!
Hi, as a family with a 10-yo, 6-yo, and 3-yo, we always prefer to stay in one place if possible. The distance between Osaka and Kyoto ranges from 15 - 30 minutes depending on the type of transportation you take, so personally we would opt to stay in Osaka for the exact same reason being luggage and wasting time. However, if you plan to explore Kyoto late at night then you might consider splitting your time.

Hi, if you are only planning to visit USJ one day then you are better off staying in Umeda since it is more central. Universal City Walk is best for multi-day visits to USJ. Trains run plenty early enough to get to USJ by opening time from Umeda. A fast pass will certainly help. Though, keep in mind that they often sell out in advance, so please book ahead :).

HI, you can take the Nankai Express or the Nankai Airport Line directly from Namba Station to KIX. I think there is a lot of confusion about getting to Kansai Airport ( KIX ) because of the more famous train, the Haruka Express which is a little faster but stops at Tennoji and Shin-Osaka Stations.
Hi, while both places are crowded don't let that stop you from visiting as both areas are so large and there are so many places that aren't so crowded within these cities. What are some things that you are interested in seeing and doing?
I have a question and I think you may be the person to help me. We are planning a trip to Japan for next year, sometime between October and December 2025. I’ve been on Expedia trying to research hotels. Every single hotel that I look up for our dates say it is sold out. Do you suppose it is because it’s still too early? I really just want to check availability and prices.
Hi, it might be because your dates are a year out but also what is the size of your party? Many hotel rooms only accommodate 3-4 people depending on age and some only two. So you might also try splitting your party. Let me know if this helps.
@ it’s very helpful. Thank you!! I was starting to get nervous that all of our rooms were already booked. I think I’m just so excited that I want to book as early as possible. Thank you!!
Very smart to book early, especially since prices can increase significantly the closer you get to your travel dates. Also, most properties on Expedia have excellent cancellation policies.

Are you from hawaii? I see you have aloha in your kensho quest page on expedia
Aloha, yes, Honolulu :)
@ wow small world. I was born and raised in Hawaii but moved to Vegas. My mom was from Japan. Small town outside of Hiroshima

We are heading to osaka in March 2025. What is kitahama like?
Hi, Kitahama is a great location, well connected. Basically, the entire Chuo Ward which includes Kitahama, Shinsaibashi, all the way down to the top of Namba is good.
Thank you@@KenshoQuest
Dang I just booked Osaka a week ago lol
