Needed to hear this. Thank you. Recently I've been inclined to give up and go into despair. Although I came out of it.. it keeps coming back and relegates me to my bed and room. I dont understand why I do this. Why I find it difficult to take responsibility..and mostly fear that keeps holding me back. It became so worse that I m afraid to look at my email or my mailbox.. afraid I might receive Something unpleasant. I hope I can come out of it. Thank you for your message

What are the powers behind Baptism? What is Confirmation? Why must we be Confirmed if we've already been Baptized?

Steven Patrick Stone Whew... there’s about a semester’s worth of videos in those questions... let me say something very quickly.
Baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist are the sacraments of initiation. They enter us more deeply into the community and Christ.
Baptism and confirmation used to be one ritual act that got split in two, so their theological significance often overlaps (complicated history), but in essence they are acts that bind us with Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit. Just as Christ died and rose again, we die to our sins and rise clean. It’s why the earliest fonts were in the shape of a tomb. Paul talks about this in Romans 6.
It is through baptism that we bind ourselves to Christ’s death and so rise with him.

Hey brother casey, would you teach us about the franciscan crown. The history, tradition and how it is prayed

I actually don't know much about it. In the modern context, it is not a major part of our lives as Franciscans, at least not in the US.
