- Artifacts from the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are on display in a new one-year exhibition at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. The “Religion in Early America” exhibit, part of four new The Nation We Build Together exhibitions and interactive experiences, opens to the public on June 28, 2017, in the National Museum of American History.
“Religion in Early America” tells the story of the beliefs and practices of early Americans from 1630 to the 1840s.
"We would like visitors to come away with the understanding of three factors of early American life - religious diversity, religious freedom and religious growth,” said museum curator Peter Manseau. "To stand in the presence of the physical objects transports you to sharing space with those who had lived with them in early American history."
Visitors to the museum will be able to see an original manuscript of the Book of Mormon, an 1830 first edition of the Book of Mormon, a couple of rare Latter-day Saint gold coins and two Kirtland Safety Society notes from 1837. The Latter-day Saint artifacts are on loan from the Church History Library in Salt Lake City, except for the gold coins, which are part of the Smithsonian collection.
“In my opinion, the original manuscript is the most important record in possession of the Church,” said Brandon Metcalf, archivist at the Church History Department. “This is the first time we've ever loaned a page of the original manuscript because it is so rare. Many of the pages that did survive are illegible, and so it's one of our most treasured collections.”
Absolutely amazing!!!
Smithsonian also has hidden a lot of artifacts found in the Hopewell Indians of North America, some of these artifacts directly match up with the timeline of the Book of Mormon people. It's time they come out with these artifacts.
I would love to go see those

you do seem to have a problem with your sound mixing though, the interviews are incredibly quiet, pretty much inaudible...

The missing link to the people's connection to the Heavenly Father is the LDS Mormon Church. I learned this before I was baptised nearly 27 years ago. I found this link that was missing and learned how truthful that the church was when I became apart of it and grew from the seed of knowledge that was taught unto me. Everyday I only draw myself closer to the Heavenly Father bc of the things I have learned from being apart of the LDS Mormon Church. It is real and full of the greater knowledge and mysteries of the Heavenly Father. If you want to know the Father just ask in faith and he will reveal all things unto you. The LDS Mormon Church has provided me with soo many gifts over the years that I cannot put this inspiritational development into words bc it taught me how to become more like my Savior and follow in his footsteps. I've learned to become more and more loveing due to drawing myself to my Heavenly Father each and every day through inspiration and guidance of his beloved Holy Spirit. The LDS Mormon Church is true and you'll learn that for yourself when you learn more about it.
The chruch is really true
es la verdad gracias
You mean the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints :)
In the beginning of the Bible, we had written words, written by Gods Holy Prohpets for the benefit of his people, recognized through black characters of letters written on white parchment. Some were chiseled in stone to form a more long term proven, sustainable way to continue the historical effect and Direction and proof for those in the future. Here we also see a Gods Prophets having his mind and will brought forth from Prophets of God in the Western Continent to draw men unto the Teachings, words, intents, and there need to have a Savior in Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus the Christ, of the Holy Bible as words of Gods words from the Eastern Hemisphere. I never would have believed that the Bible would ever need another Testifier that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Sadly it does and so we do see the Book of Mormon anothet Testifier of Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible to be the Words of his Prophets even from the beginning of time until they they killed by controlling men of Power for their Governmental Stategy.
Can I see the Creation of the world?.
Can I see the children of Israel cross the Red Sea?
Can I see, my Lord and Savior?
Well it is SOP Standard Operating Procedure for the believing followers of God, to exercise their Faith and works through prayer and study and desire to have a Spiritual Confirmation of these things. This is the way the Apostles of Jesus Christ in the NewTestament era did it. Well I can think of no other way a man would have the Faith to be willingly Crucified as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Exercising this ability separates the Cream of the Crop from the Norma! man.
CAM I FOUND SOMETHING YOU MIGHT LIKE LDS....
What about the sword of Laban, the Liahona and the Urim and Thummim that Joseph Smith claimed he found with the golden plates he received from the Angel Moroni? I would really love to see those artifacts on display . . . .
We don’t use crosses. This is misleading
Can we see the golden plates? Or are they still in cave somewhere?
We can't see the golden plates because they don't exist. It's make-believe.
They may in the same place of the 10 Commandments tablets. Can YOU tell us where they are?
Show us the stones the Ten Commandments are written on. Or are they still in a cave somewhere
The gold plates went back into the possession of Moroni after translation was completed.
2 Nephi 27
Some of that stuff should be in the Smithsonian not a mormon church
Where are the gold tablets the angle gave smith🤣🤣
Those are masonic symbols
Why they displaying false church artifacts
