Hey Spaseebo Mormons are not adding anything to the bible. The bible and the book of Mormon are separate books, both independent of each other. They separately testify of the reality of Jesus Christ just like two witnesses in a court would. The book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ not an extension of the bible as others mistakenly believe. Samantha Edwards mormons/lds believe we are saved by grace after all we can do. God does not expect us to be perfect in this life, but He expects us to do something to receive the blessings of the atonement of Jesus Christ. There is a misunderstanding with the relationship between works and grace among us as Christians. For example in John 14:15 Jesus declares that if we love him we must keep his commandments. It appears some effort is required on our part there. However in Ephesians 2:5 Paul declares that we are saved by grace even when we are dead in sin. Seems contradictory here, but it is not. Why? This is how we acknowledge him and accept what he did for us. This is how he is the savior. I love Him.
I find that comments like yours on "works" are often the sharing of what you have been taught rather than our own study of the scriptures. The Book of Mormon and the New Testament are consistent. Reason(granted to us by God) would indicate that that belief means we can accept Jesus as our Savior and then take a nap for the next 50 years. Look at the following: Matthew 16:27, Revelation 2:23,Revelation 20:12, James 1:22, Titus 3:8, 1 Timothy 6:18, Philippians 2:12, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 6:15, John 5:29. This should be enough to demonstrate that our works are critical.
Hi Linda, thank you for the opportunity to clarify our beliefs. The Book of Mormon is not a replacement or substitute for the Holy Bible, but a companion to it, and it testifies of Jesus Christ as our Savior. I thought it was strange that they said they are all spirit children and brothers and sisters but at the end of the video say Jesus is the only begotten. Which is it?
Everyone who has lived on this Earth are literal spirit sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, referring to his divine nature as a human. All other men and women on this Earth have/had a physical father and mother to whom they were born to, meaning that man and woman "beget" a son or daughter in life (mortal parents). Jesus Christ is the only Begotten because he is the only son to have been beget (look up definition) of the Father.
My interpretation, along with Christian belief, is that there is one god and there is none before him nor will there be after. God created all things. Jesus is the ONLY son of God. There was never a pre-mortal life. You are saved ONLY by faith in Jesus Christ. There is no mother in heaven. Christ and God are one in the same.
Thomas Horonzy He was talking about Jeremiah. He knew he would make him a prophet. God can see into the future. it doesn't say he existed another life. And the problem i have with a pre-mortal life is it just doesn't make sense that you were with God and living with him and then he just decided to wipe your memory and send you to a sinful world separated from him.
Can you please tell me where to find what the spanish speaking man is talking about in the bible? He says the bible says that we lived in a premortal life with God. I was wondering if someone could help me find the passages in the bible?
Two biblical passages that refer to spirits existing with God before this life are Jeremiah 1:5; and Job 38:4,7. Of course there are different interpretations of these scriptures. Some say that the scripture in Jeremiah refers to the foreknowledge of God, but some other modern Christian scholars teach that this is a reference to more than just the foreknowledge of God because of the very specific language. "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." To know, to sanctify and to ordain someone is something very different than just foreknowledge and suggests that God was familiar with the spiritual attitudes and abilities of Job before he was born. I hope that helps explain the LDS theology on this.
Jeremiah 1:5 seems to be talking about God predestining Jeremiah to be a prophet. Job 38: 4,7 is God asking him if he was there when God created. When I read the next two chapters it goes the same. God rebuking Job. One question that puzzles me is why is the Mormon Jesus different from biblical Jesus? How do you know that the Mormon version is right?
RJ Rodriguez Hi RJ, I hope this stays friendly and that you are truly wondering about these things. You asked for biblical scriptures that support a pre-existence of spirit children of God. Those are two. Of course there are differing interpretations of the two scriptures, as I mentioned. You may have a different interpretation, but there is no way for you to say for certainty, or rule out that these scriptures are talking about the existence of spirit children of God before they were born onto this earth. The belief is supported in the Bible. That is also an interesting question on Jesus. The Jesus that we believe in, is in fact the very same Jesus in the bible. I feel that the bible completely supports my belief in Jesus Christ. There is a difference in interpretation of scriptures as to the nature of God. It is a very old discussion. Are you familiar with the council of Nicaea?
Marriottcal, Just because we may or may not agree would not mean that we are not being civil or friendly. The harshest words ever spoken to me were by those that loved me. They were spoken because they did not want to see me remain in a bad condition. Before we change the subject I would like to explore this preexistance and spirit children theory. The bible references you gave to me are not enough evidence to prove that God created us in heaven first. The bible would not agree with the theory when you look at the Genesis account of God forming us out of the dust. I would tend to agree with that because if you see a body decompose it turns to dust. The spirit we have was given by God by breathing life into us. A question that keeps coming to my mind is if God created us in heaven why would we have to come to earth and be away from God. The bible message seems to be a way to be reconciled or returned to God. By returning I mean that man fell from the presence of God when he disobeyed. Adam and Eve walked and communed with God in the garden sounds like a perfect scenario. And one God is looking to make a reality again. Another thing if God is making spirit children. How is he doing it? Does this mean that he has a wife?
RJ, Yes our bodies are made of the dust of the earth. We are dual beings, made of body and spirit. Our spirits were not made of the dust of the earth however. They were with God before we were born and they will exist after we die. Do you have children? When I became a parent I was amazed at how each of my children seem to come to earth with such a unique personality and gifts of the spirit. I believe that this is also evidence of our pre-mortal life. Think about this for a moment. When God says in Genesis 3:19, "for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return," does that mean that our spirits will also return to the dust and be no more? Of course not. He is talking specifically of our bodies, not our spirits. So I also find the scripture in Genesis about being created out of the dust to be not enough evidence that our bodies and our spirits were created at the time of our birth. We were with God before. Why did we need to leave him? Because that was what he wanted. He knew that we had to leave him and have this mortal earthly experience to prove ourselves that we would follow God and choose him. Let me ask you, what is the resurrection of Jesus Christ and what does it mean to you? Why did Jesus make such a point when he met with his disciples after the resurrection that he was not just a spirit, but that he had a body of flesh and bones? See Luke Chapter 24. What happened to Jesus' body after he left his disciples? The Father and the Son are two distinct and separate beings with glorious and perfected bodies. They are one in purpose. Why would Jesus pray to himself in the Garden before his crucifixion? Why would he ask God why he has forsaken him on the cross? Did he forsake himself? The description of the nature of God that was agreed upon by theologians 300+ years after the death of Jesus Christ in the council of Nicaea, does't clear things up, it makes it more confusing. The Nicene creed also teaches that there is only one true church, the Catholic church and one baptism necessary for salvation. Do you accept those teachings with the same enthusiasm that you do for the agreed upon definition of God that all the Christian world uses to this day from the council of Nicaea? Doesn't that make you a little suspect of the interpretations of Holy Scripture that the council decreed? Thanks for writing back, you've given me an opportunity think deeply about what my beliefs are. It has been a good experience for me.
You cant make people believe what Christ has done for us. You can help yhrn them find Christ through the fruit of the spirit and love that you share with yhem. I am very thankful that you have received Jesus Christ that is an incredible testimony. However just be careful because some of the theology out there is much different from the Holy Bible and we must know that the Bible is either 100% true or if it's got one detail that is why the whole thing is a lie I believe in the inerrancy of the Holy Bible and the perfect word of God I believe that Jesus Christ , was crucified on the cross and put to death for my sins and the sins of old man and then was buried in a tomb and was raised to Life 3 Days later defeating death and giving me and all who believe in the name of Jesus Christ is the son of God eternal life or it could be simplified as a personal relationship with God the Father for eternity the holy spirit is my helper and Jesus sent him to help out of love. I know that we're not to shame or try and tell other religions how wrong they are but rather love them and allow the Holy Spirit to do his work
There is the truth, the opposite is not just a lie, but a deception. You have to establish whether or not the 'truth' you are being presented with is truth, or a deception heavily disguised as truth. John 8 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
And then many will be led into sin, they will betray and hate one another. Many FALSE PROPHETS will arise and deceive many;...Matt.24:10-11 Neither salvation in any other for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.Acts 4:12 Yahshua Messiah is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.Hebs.13:8HalleluYah
Hi Iris, thank you for your question. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Heavenly Father. He and His Father are one in purpose, but are two separate beings. You can learn more here: www.mormon.org/site/beliefs/jesus-christ
Most people naturally would not follow something that they know will ruin their lives, even though it makes them feel good. They will however keep following something that makes them become better people.
+kirkland meadows : That's because 'coke' is not good for you. Give it up and drink of the Words of Wisdom of the Scriptures; eat of the fruit of the vine of the Saviour Jesus Christ's vineyard. Natural food with no chemicals are always best. Jesus drank of the 'pure fruit' of the vine, unadulterated grape juice. He was the Purest of the pure, only the best for Him. (:
I was listening to The Book of Mormon online with its audio program and wanted to continue listening, but I can't locate the Website. Can you help me find it?
Firstly the word of God is in the bible only. There are other books that are not included in the bible, but we do not say they are the words of God. Also in the bible it does not say there will be more prophets to come. What we know from the last things Jesus said, was to warn his followers about false prophets. He said I will come. We are waiting for him to come back. Christians are waiting for him to come back. We were not waiting for another prophet. Salvation is grace alone in Jesus Christ. God does not require works from us. When Jesus died on the cross he said it is done. Religion is done. Accepting Jesus as your saviour, living with faith in him only is required of us. God ripped apart the cloth that separates the church from his people - when only once a year a holy man could enter, now everyone could enter the temple. This was done to symbolise what God feels about us, it is him saying now you can come to me, and I will accept you as you are. Your ideal of salvation is different to christians. Your idea of the origin of where we came from. You believe God's people lived with God as spirits before being sent to this world.. It does not say this in the bible - but in fact the opposite!. It says gen 2.7. Cor. 15:46-47. If you are to believe in your book, it is not compatible with what the bible says, and we have already taken the term Christians, so your new religion needs to find a new name to go with it.
actually our church is the only true church on this earth; plus we are not a cult and we believe that the book of Mormon is another testament of jesus Christ; also, us Mormons are also called Christians; though the stuff we do is a little different from what you do; also you should not be judging our religion, even when ours is different from yours; lastly, please do not bully our religion, because we are all heavenly fathers children.
I believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is risen from the dead, and he allowed us to have a spiritual relationship with God, as he paid the way for our sins that separated us from God. I believe in a relationship with Christ, not religion. He has all authority and power under Heaven. He is the only way into heaven, He is love, he is truth. In the latter days he will pour out his spirit on his disciples. I do not understand what your religion teaches, nor it's beliefs. However I will say this, when men makes rules they puff themselves up and put barriers between a relationship with Christ. Jesus forgave all freely, murderers, prostitutes, however he judged the religious leaders heavily. Mormonism is a religion full of religious ideas and rules and contradictions to what Jesus said. It is only common sense to imagine how Jesus would react to such an organisation. God Bless you and I truly pray you seek HIM, through repentance, and not seek a mere man's ideas. The last time an angel witnessed to a man, Islam was born, this is not from God, likewise nor is Mormonism. This is not me judging, this is me showing you the way and having an answer to my faith in Jesus.
Christianity teaches that there is only one God and yet there are three persons who are God. God is one in a different way than He is three. God is one in essence and three in person. Mormons deny this. Mormons believe that Jesus was created. The problem with this is that a created being cannot save people from their sin. Our sin before God is like an infinite debt and only someone who is not created can pay an infinite debt.
I have heard it said that Jesus and Satan are brothers according to LDS teachings. I thought that according to Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14 that Satan was an angel created by God that fell because he wanted to be like God.
***** With what you are telling me about the Garden account. You think that it was Gods plan for his creation to disobey him. I must ask you do you also think that it is ok for us to disobey our earthly parents? The fifth commandment would say if we honor our parents. Then we would prolong our days on the earth. Ephesians 6:2-3. It seems reasonable that the transgression of Adam and Eve depicts why we should follow the fifth commandment. Had Adam and Eve not transgressed then they would have never died and the earth would not be cursed. They would still be enjoying long walks with God in paradise. As for the point you make about Adam and Eve only being able to have children after the fall. It doesn't make sense to me because of the account given in Genesis 1. Genesis 1: 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: You must be referring to scripture when you cite the explanation you give. It seems that the scripture your referring to is in direct conflict with the bible. I would be interested to see where your basis for your argument comes from. Will you provide some scripture? Thanks Robert
All of us, including Jesus and Satan, were spirits in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Satan fell because he sought to take away our agency, or ability to choose, and as such attempted to take God's place and cause God to fall. God has to remain perfectly just and perfectly merciful in order to remain God. He could see what would happen with Satan's plan and cast him out. Christ was chosen to be our Savior because he was willing to follow God's plan to redeem us through the atonement. There is a lot more that you can read here: www.lds.org/bc/content/ldsorg/content/english/manual/missionary/pdf/36950_the-plan-of-salvation-eng.pdf?lang=eng
Andrew GIbson At about 1min into the video a Spanish speaking man says that the bible teaches that all men are the offspring of God and that we lived with him in a pre mortal existence. Please provide scriptural evidence for this statement. I see the creation in Genesis and it seems to explain that God created man from the earth then breathed life into him. This life being a spirit. The fact that he had not yet created the woman but made her from man makes it difficult to prove in my mind that women and man were created previously in a premortal existence.
RJ Rodriguez Set your mind aside and listen to your heart. That life, being a spirit, that entered Adam's body is what the offspring of God are. Every man, woman and child has a spirit in them that existed before we were born. There are references to this in the bible but they are very vague. Much more can be found on the Doctrine and Covenants as well as the book of Abraham in the Pearl of Great Price.
I often find many who wish to exclude other Christians try to narrowly define Christianity to meet their specific criteria, when in reality, no real authoritative distinctions exist
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We put the name of Jesus Christ in the first of our denomination. You have your agency to believe any way you choose. Our official name is a mouth full and many call us Mormons which is what we are. Some Mormons reply that they are LDS which again we are. Read James if you dare and see the promise, the same promise that Joseph Smith received.
When I gave my heart to Jesus and was baptized by immersion thus allowing the Holy Spirit to enter and live inside of me to help me to understand what Jesus wants me to do to fulfill my commitments I have made through my baptism to continue to follow and to endure to the end.
That's not what the Bible says. I believe the Bible is the word of God and anything that is not in there should be questioned.
***** Have you considered a dialog that might expose errors in your beliefs?
RJ Rodriguez
Hi RJ, I hope this stays friendly and that you are truly wondering about these things.
Many FALSE PROPHETS will arise and deceive many;...Matt.24:10-11
Neither salvation in any other for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.Acts 4:12

Do the Latter Day Saints know that Jesus is not God and that the only true God is Jesus’ father Jehovah as written in the scriptures?
Hi Iris, thank you for your question. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Heavenly Father. He and His Father are one in purpose, but are two separate beings. You can learn more here: www.mormon.org/site/beliefs/jesus-christ
I feel good and moved when I see a coke commercial but I don't think God wants me to follow their truck.
this is exactly how i feel right now.
better work harder on your routine, or at least don't quit your job at McDonalds yet.
But believing your church is the only one that has the truth is false

Thanks for your opinion. Others do not believe the way you do.
actually our church is the only true church on this earth; plus we are not a cult and we believe that the book of Mormon is another testament of jesus Christ; also, us Mormons are also called Christians; though the stuff we do is a little different from what you do; also you should not be judging our religion, even when ours is different from yours; lastly, please do not bully our religion, because we are all heavenly fathers children.
This is not me judging, this is me showing you the way and having an answer to my faith in Jesus.
ok
i understand
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Christianity teaches that there is only one God and yet there are three persons who are God. God is one in a different way than He is three. God is one in essence and three in person. Mormons deny this.
Mormons believe that Jesus was created. The problem with this is that a created being cannot save people from their sin. Our sin before God is like an infinite debt and only someone who is not created can pay an infinite debt.
The Mormon god is no more than a mere man who worked his,way up to being a god. That is a god no one should want to worship. It's really sad.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:
You must be referring to scripture when you cite the explanation you give. It seems that the scripture your referring to is in direct conflict with the bible.
I would be interested to see where your basis for your argument comes from. Will you provide some scripture?
Thanks
Robert
Andrew Gibson Isaiah 43,44, and 45 explain that there is one God and He knows of no other gods. Never before has there been or ever will be.
RJ Rodriguez
Set your mind aside and listen to your heart.

IM CHRISTIAN NOT MORMON
Ok.
I'm both
GameTimeTV same
Mormon is just a nickname and a name of a man. we LDS are christians
This looks like it was made by Jehovah's Witnesses
Basically Mormons are close to Christians in a certain way
I often find many who wish to exclude other Christians try to narrowly define Christianity to meet their specific criteria, when in reality, no real authoritative distinctions exist
