I’ve always loved the XPS line because it does a better job than most of competing with Apple in terms of design and build quality but they are not MacBook clones. Dell uses their own design that you won’t mistake for anything else.
I don't know why anyone would think any XPS is a MacBook clone. They look nothing alike. They have their own completely recognizable design language
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise Apple fanboys
@@messibruh😂😂😂😂😂😂guilty✋✋
The only thing I don't like about laptops these days is the lack of ports
Dell said that they literally weren't able to fit in anymore ports, which is understandable with how small and packed it is.
@@olivertessier So how about the larger ones?
@@MrShaquille70 they have normal ports, not just 2 USB c ports
@@olivertessier i just checked the other xps and they only have USB C and a SD card slot.
@@MrShaquille70 yes but you have to remember that those computers also don't have too much room inside, because they have 3060/3070 graphics cards and extremely large cooling systems
It's amazing how they've kept real cars as showpieces 😂
I used to use an XPS 13 with a 7th gen cpu, 16 gb ram, 512 ssd and 4k display and although it was a very capable machine it just couldnt keep up with my workflow. I am a developer and I often need to build projects locally and have many VMs and emulators running with a lot of browsers and not to mention docker for desktop too. The problem with these things is that they are too thin to do real work on them for too long. The CPU ends up overheating and throttling over long durations of work which is a pain. This is why Apples M1 macbooks are far superior than any windows ultrabook at the moment because of the better heat management.
Still prefer the design of this and also prefer Windows 11 over mac os.
So as a developer looking to use engines like UE5 or Unity, you would recommend a MacBook Pro over the XPS 13 plus?
@@phoenixelite.1223 Unity maybe yeah, but UE5 features like Lumen dont work on M1 macbooks
a good windows laptop which is better, Is the Lenovo Slim 7 pro x. has a ryzen 9 6900hs, RTX 3050, 32 gb of ddr5 6400 MHz ram, 1tb nvme ssd, and 2 usb c 3.2, and 2 usb a ports, and a headphone jack. Also has a 3k 120hz display. It's slim and quiet. I own this and a MacBook Air. This thing only costed me 1300 dollars. Much cheaper than an XPS and it's much better.
I bet you can find a windows laptop with a 12th gen cpu that can keep up with the workload that is for your job. There is quite a difference now from 7th to 12th with the amount of cores and such.
well it's not really designed for that type of thing lol
XPS does look really good. But I hope they can have a 14 inch version for an even bigger screen and better cooling space. Good for pairing with an eGPU.
Not an XPS, but the Precision 5470 is basically a 14" XPS. Doesn't have the same keyboard or trackpad tho.
@@tobiassj7960 it's also like $50000000
Do not buy anything from Dell, they are just horrible tbh…
I would still go with MacBook Air M1 16Gb RAM. IT'S slightly cheaper and it's a MacBook.
@@adam.dzwoniarek72 how about the Lenovo slim 7 pro x? I love the MacBook Air m1. but for windows, I like the slim7 pro x.
I was waiting for such reviews so that I could buy one.Well done Lew
I agree. Lew is the best tech reviewer in the industry.
Dont buy it. Look at all the other reviews. They alll sey they had hear problems and the computer randomly shutting down and much more. Not worth it
@@ye7576.thanks a lot, how about the Samsung galaxybook 2 pro 360
@@ashbrightsamuel2307 I live in korea so I have quite a lot of experience with them. Comparing it to the macbook air m2, I think it has a better keyboard and is similar in almost all other ways except for maybe having a touchscreen. So I think it would be a solid buy if you choose the samsung galaxy book 2 360
@@ye7576. Thanks a lot brotherman for this piece of information
We have Dell xps at work and I've completely lost trust in Dell's reliability. My first laptop (got 3 years ago) started crashing randomly after a year, most probably memory issues. Replaced. The other one started shutting down randomly after around 6 months. Replaced. The next one (new out of the box) had issues with trackpad (just lagging / hanging). Replaced. The other one out of the box had screen issues (dead pixels). Replaced and insisted on getting a mac. No issues since staying on an M1 Pro.
Random crashes could be due to windows updates and bad drivers?
@@andrew007s I didn't have any of the mentioned issues with my ThinkPad at home which I've had for 4 years
@@myspacerocket Three weeks ago, I spent an entire day configuring a brand new ASUS laptop. CPU was maxing out at 90 to 100%. Windows 11 releases updates aggressively and older drivers do not work sometimes. I got lucky because ASUS released a camera driver within a week. Laptops are getting tonnes of negative reviews. It appears its due to Windows updates and memory intense background services. Its time that manufactures demand that Microsoft fix these problems.
The webcam quality is surprisingly good.
Yeah, it's good with enough light from what I've seen when testing it.
I bought my new xps 13 last month, comes with a defect where the brightness didn’t work. Call the technical team and spend 2-3 hours at midnight with no solution. Try to return the laptop, but they didn’t response positively and said i can’t ask for a refund.. what a shame on a great product but comes with a very bad customer service.
Just dont buy it, try to check trustpilot rating in europe and you will see 1 star rating :)
I use the XPS 13 Plus for work. One port goes to the eGPU with 3070 Ti and then to the monitor over displayport, the other port goes to thunderbolt dock built into my monitor for ethernet and extra ports. Sleek and powerful setup!
thats a really bad idea, the display signal has to go through both ports now and will steal almost all of your thunderbolt bandwith. better connect the monitor to the egpu via displayport.
@@JPK1337 I have the eGPU connected directly to the monitor via displayport. The other port gives me Ethernet, USB ports, etc., but I have that display signal disabled. I was unclear in my original post.
Good for video editing?
@@dba9923 I don't really do video editing for work, so I can't give you a good answer
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi everyone. This comment is unrelated to the video but I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm an aspiring music producer and my laptop is old and underpowered, it struggles to run DAW software. I need to upgrade but I have a really small budget, maybe £300(please don't judge or be mean, life's expensive in London).
Can anyone recommend a good laptop for me please?
We have had a bad experience with this laptop - the i7-1280p model thermal throttles like crazy, under normal load, making the laptop significantly underperform it's potential. QC is also pretty bad, the model we received has light bleeding around the edges of the screen, and the computer gets super hot during normal use. Battery life also sucks. Lucky to get 4 hours with battery saver on. Thought it might be a dud, but it sounds like lots of other users are experiencing similar issues. The laptop looks amazing, but the thermals and power-hungry P series chips really ruin the experience.
🔝🔝Thanks for watching and commenting ♥️ You have been randomly selected among winner for today hit me up via the digits above to reclaim prize 🔝🔝
hoping next year's Qualcomm chips find their way in this machine
they should a light as an outline for the trackpad that glows only when you touch it so you can see the boundaries
Wait that’s actually a good idea, delete this comment or it will be stolen 😂
Dude that's really a nice idea. Dell needs to hire u rn.
@@michaelbaines 😂😂😂 for sure.
I own the Plus. The track pad area is so large you don't need an outline. It works perfectly without. Also, the haptic feedback is amazing.
Too bad... No 90hz - 120hz OLED display. I'd love to connect a graphic card to this via USB-C but the screen refresh rate is too slow. C'mon dell. Its almost 2023. Give us at minimum 90hz OLED.
@@goochipoochie Bruhh.. hooking up a Nvidia 3080 gpu to it will give you higher fps... therefore the 60hzz screen will not keep up. Too much blurr. Its obvious you can connect it via usb c thats why I mentioned it to begin with. Haha. All smart phones now have 120hz display. Dont tell me you still game with a 60hz display. Lol.
Removing the function keys is a no-go
I will buy this. The webcam on here is really good. I got the hp 360 spectre for 1200$ for college. When I had virtual class and got on camera, i was highly disappointed. You would think paying 1200$ for a laptop would get you high quality on a laptop.
Nicest thing: Dell being one of the few allowing for Linux out of the box! Kudos
Quality Control on this laptop has been pretty bad with even having on-display units at Best Buy having their display panels literally falling off. This alongside a ton of other people encountering issues with it makes it not that of a recommendable laptop honestly. Get something like the ThinkPad Z13, Spectre 13.5, Yoga 9i 14, Zenbook S 13/14X for something equally as premium without QC issues.
Damn man that really sucks. Not getting this now.
Yep, I second this comment. The i7-1280p model thermal throttles like crazy, under normal load, making the laptop significantly underperform it's potential. QC is also pretty bad, the model we received has light bleeding around the edges of the screen, and the computer gets super hot during normal use. Battery life also sucks. Lucky to get 4 hours with battery saver on.
That web camera looks leagues over so many other windows manufacturers right now.
XPS looks good when off....once u experience the shitty drivers, it isnt as nice.
Wait it has less ports than a MacBook 😂😂 the lack of audio jack is a ridiculous Apple move I never thought I’d see dell take
As much as i love the new redesign, I loathe the fact that the escape key is a touch button ☹️
I was planning to get a laptop but this is so expensive $2.4k!!!!
I am sooo tired of these high end laptops and their fashion keyboards. PRODUCTIVITY KEYBOARDS ALREADY! and a 720p webcam is unusable in a productivity environment where you have team meetings everyday. useless. come on.
Sick of Dells. XPS have always let me down with their buld quality. They never have longevity. Switched to a MBP M1 and will never look back.
This is exactly why I stopped watching this dudes videos a few years back.. Knows absolutely nothing about tech, he just reads the box, or in this case, the website. I can do that myself. Bruh do you even know what FHD and UHD stand for? Really feel like you don't
what I liked the most was the keyboard
I hope that I have this device one day
It's looking amazing I love this laptop
I checked the prices and they're ridiculous. Just buy mbp 14 inch m1 pro
That's why dell is my favorite because it came to unbox therapy
Can someone please help me with any laptop, I need it for school
Capacitive function keys are a bad idea. Ask Apple how much people loved a virtual ESC key.
I loved the part when he said " it's therapy time.... Unbox therapy time!"
Gave me chills
Okay I need to know who owns the cars in the background. Because an Autozam AZ-1 is 10/10
Been a while since watch from this channel, but the best thing is that when I come I always find the best reviews❤️❤️❤️
Mobile Tech Review is the best reviews.
What happened to the pixel 7 video?? I watched a couple minutes, came back later to finish it, but it was gone???
this is the second laptop with a real camera that does not take me back to before samsung galaxy S3!
even tho i follow u from years i haven't had a video of yours in the suggestions in idk how many months
Where is the yesterday new pixel phone video?
Just ordered my third one of these... first one had a dent in the chassis, second one had a display issue where there was a white shadow on the right side of the display (the UHD+ LCD, not the OLED which has adhesive issues apparently). I hope the next one is fine, I really do, it is such a nice laptop!!!
My unit had a dead pixel and adhesives issues. Also, there was this high-pitched coil whine/fan noise which I couldn't stand. Returned it.
@@tech_realm Yeah, first one I didn't even turn on, the second one did have noticeable coil whine, a lot for a laptop but not to a point where it bothers me too much, you have to have your ear 20 cm from the laptop to really hear it. Fan noise I thought was impressive given it was dissipating 40W continuously and it was MUCH quieter than my 13" Intel MacBook Pro at lower processor power.
@@steffenbuettner4294 Tbh I just bought a MBP 14 instead and have been mostly happy with it. Apple does have its fair share of QC issues though...
@@tech_realm Wasn't an option for me because it's not x86... otherwise I would have immediately bought it when they came out.
That's Dell for ya. Always launch issues. Not for me personally but they do have issues.
MacBook Air M1, slimmer, better, never heard Lew saying all those good things about it, yes he has a thing with Apple, older viewers will confirm : )
Dell needs to step up the refresh rate! 60hz ain't cuttin it for such a premium laptop.
multimedia touch controls are too unresponsive + trackpad is definitely something you need to get used to.
but other than that it's a good laptop
Why I don't recieve the notification of your video
Honestly, I only bought my xps 13 9315 because of color, design and, the price I found it for which was $900.00 open box at bestbuy. The config is the 32GB ram with 1TB SSD. I couldnt pass it up and tbh I loveee how this laptop works and looks. I mean having a usb c port on each side is a God send compared to what Apple does with their MBA. Good video!
So what's up with that Autozam ?
I've always envied the Dell XPS line. Maybe someday!
I wonder how well that intel iris does with games. Could you run esports games like Rainbow six or overwatch?
bit late in the game..
Form over functionality - 2 ports? One is taken up by the power chord, and the other, a mouse...
When the review is better than the actual item, he's making all the devices sound and looks better! The best reviewer 💯
The things is not battery capacity, ,but battery durability. In 2 years, dell XPS batteries are dead usually and so useless as transportable laptops. That's why my next laptop is a Mac Book air
Dell xps laptops have fan / disk issues. I m tired of them. Will never use again
I need this laptop for study can you give me this laptop I will be grateful
So….. what happened to that Pixel 7 video?? Got taken down….. 😬
I do like the laptop, I'd probably go with the highest nits rating display in case I'm in the sunlight, But I would definitely miss an ethernet jack.
In sunlight?
You can always bring a Type-C hub with the laptop
It's a laptop. Why on earth do you need an ethernet port??? My god. Wifi 6E is literally like Megabit speed.
@@zeus1117 why you getting so pressed about someone else choices lmao
Why did no one review the Galaxy Book2 360 from Samsung yet?
me watching: I wish someone could gift me any kinds of laptop for my thesis
Bought one to replace my 9Q33 laptop which is just that ...a laptop for sitting in the recliner with. Also bought a WD22TB4 dock so one cable to one TB4 port is all thats needed . Everthing including TV plugs into Dock . Nice solution although I would have prefered the 2in 1 version , but it doesnt allow hard drive replacement so i went with the normal clamshell Top spec but with OLED touch. Im a mouse man so will have a type c mouse in the other port and one in the dock so i have portable mouse option without unplugging . Lenovo makes a type c mouse so i have ordered that as well. Those that do loads of work on a laptop are surely expecting too much from a portable device . They should be at a desk !......... and NOT working from home ....Slack shits !😁
The best looking laptop ever
I have had my XPS 13 Plus since launch and love it
Cool waiting for my daughter’s to arrive as her Christmas present
Best Buy has had these on display for over a month or two. Surprise he’s just getting around to reviewing it. There was a recall on them. Design flaw. I believe the screens were separating from the unit. Something along those lines.
Wtf 88 views? I'm so early.
Apple: Yeah you guys were right. Slim low travel keyboard and touchbar didn’t work. Dell: Hold my beer
I have the previous iteration of XPS 13. Would not have bought it without the headphone port. I use it all the time. Won't buy a phone, tablet, laptop without it.
Dell needs to make a 15" or 16" version of this
100% agree
I think for a 15" or 16" it needs to get thicker and the portability of it will decrease a bit ,
Hilarious price, and no jack, Ethernet, or HDMI... nothing...
That cam looks great. Would rather have that and no notch than what’s on the Mac now.
Great video. Thanks
How do i use an external wireless mouse with it?
Does this come in a bigger version, with that keyboard style, sleek design, and excellent specs?
720p webcam
If it just said apple instead of dell on the back, he’d be bitching about shallow switches and trackpad edges and capacitive function buttons. But since it’s dell, sick laptop!
Unbox therapy really fell off ….
still suprises me that there is still no 120Hz display option yet
Where are the function keys??
i wanted to buy this, but my previous computer was a Dell, with just horrible reliability. Tons of screen issues. Couldnt do it. So i bought the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 instead. Suuuuuper thin and capable with like 3x the number of ports that this one has. Dell's quality is a bit discouraging.
Please improve your lightning setup dude it dulls out main screen of ur gadgets
Is that a autozam in the background
Damn this thing comes with thunderbolt 4 I believe. I've always wanted to try out egpu gaming so this seems to be a great choice
Price is expensive than macbook
Dell should rethink abt price
Laptops like this expensive with 60 Hz screen still baffles me.
Definitely getting the Austin Powers vibe with that music
It's crazy that Anker can produce a charger a 3rd of the size but Dell can't.
Stunning maybe but has a lot of new design and quality issues .
@Unbox Therapy
The *60 Hz is killing me,* when most similar Windows Ultrabooks are now *putting up 90 Hz.* I'm definitely considering the *OLED display.* It looks fascinating.

That keyboard design is sexual.
He said very little about the laptop while saying a whole lot.
Nah with this price i would rather buy an macbook
I love mine!! Battery isn’t good. But what happened to the Pixel video!?
Thinkpads & macs are far better than Dell
I have been using the XPS 13 PLUS for several months now. The product has a lot of faults. Especially with hardware like speakers and the haptic feedback based mouse clicks.
Would not recommend.
720p webcam in 2022 😂 laptops are slacking compared to smart phones and tablets
What about the new WiFi routers by Google
I love looking at tech I'll never be able to afford.
Nah. Try holding it up with one hand and open the lid, the back of the screen is so sharp it cuts your finger tips that supports the base.
If you are a programmers do not buy this laptop. This laptop is meant for watching video and browsing the web which you can get a Chromebook for half the price. As soon as you start programming on this laptop you will quickly realize all the function keys (ESC, F1...F12) are gone and are replaced by what Apple used to have (touch bar) before they took it out due to backlash from the customers and the communities
0:51 “the power of the laptop, in the palm of my hand”
the keyboard is awful, and that ain't the future for those of us that actually use our laptops for work while on the go. absolute hard pass on this one
