    I was gonna get fox snap rings for my brand new 4Runner since my factory springs are fresh. But I recalled that a previous review of yours indicated that the snap rings seemed to top out easily when placed at the 2 inch lift.
    So I looked at the fox website and sure enough there’s a overall travel difference between the fox snap ring shock and the 2.0 coilovers. 4.79 inches of travel on the snap rings vs 5.39 on the coilovers on the 5th gen 4Runner.
    I wanted a 2 inch lift so needless to say I went with the 2.0 coilovers

      @ShockSurplus  2 года назад

      The factory spring can only provide so much hence the lack of travel. The Fox 2.0 have a new spring which is rated slight higher and tuned different for the direct fitment into said vehicle.

      @@ShockSurplus Do you happen to know if the fox coilovers provide more extension or compression with regards to the overall travel difference when set at 2 inches? (When compared to the snap rings).

    I replaced the 2.0fox and adjusted the height to the same height as the original car, and found that it was very unstable when cornering! Still original parts suitable for road

      @@ShockSurplus I am Hilux in 2015, and I have completely lost interest in FOX. I am going to install my original shock absorber back. After installing the fox, the handling performance of the car will be greatly reduced. When the speed reaches 120km/h, there will be a sense of floating feeling out of control

    Can u use Old Man Emu springs with the Fox 2.0 snap ring? My current setup is 5100s with OME springs. If so Will both shocks provide the same lift height at both the zero setting using the same OME spring?

    Looking for a replacement front coil-over and rear shock for my 2011 F150, 145in wheelbase Larial, rear-wheel drive. The truck has 97k miles on OEM shocks. We tow a 26 ft 7000lb GVWR travel trailer most weekends and on vacation. What would you recommend?

    2.0 Performance Series Snap Ring Coilover Shocks will take the factory Tacoma TRD PRO Spring?

      They unfortunately do not work with the TRD Pro Springs.

    If I run the fox snap ring on factory height, can I use a spacer on top to level the truck? How would the truck ride?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  2 года назад

      You can if you like but we wouldn't suggest it. Spacer provide no real functional usage and only provides a physical appearance change. Having the struts or springs provide the lift will overall give you better ride and control of your vehicle.

    If I use the fox snap ring on my 3rd gen tacoma, with the 2 inch lift, do I need to lift the back as well in order to level the truck?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  2 года назад

      You would use the snap ring and the factory OEM spring which you can set for 2" and leveling the truck out.

    Can I use the 2.0 snap rings on the bottom setting with a 3” lift spring on my tundra?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  4 дня назад

      Yes you could, though not recommended on the fox 2.0, we'd suggest the eibach pro truck since they have a bit more shock stroke and extended length

    are there differences is ride characteristics between the 2.0 snap right w/factory spring vs the 2.0 coilover?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  7 месяцев назад

      We've only been able to do that test on one vehicle, the Tacoma, and if there was a difference - we couldn't tell. The vehicle wheel/tire setups were changed though between the tests. But from everything we know and have heard from Fox, the valving and spring combinations should provide an equal ride between the snap ring and the coilovers on the same vehicle.

    I got the fox 2.0 that came pre set to 2” lift for my 2013 Tacoma.
    I need to set them on stock height. Would I lower the nut down 1” on the threads to get the 2” out? I can’t find anything on setting the height in these.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  11 месяцев назад

      Yup! Tacos and 4runners have about a 2:1 motion ration so taking out an inch of preload should get you close to stock height.

    So I just bought a 2022 1500 GMC AT4. If I go with just the 5100's from Bilstein, I would not need to level the truck say with a Ready lift leveling kit correct?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Год назад

      The 5100 for the AT4 and Trail Boss will net you at most 1.1" lift over the stock height. It would depending on how much difference our truck is from font and rear.

    Can I use the fox 2.0 snap rings with the stock Chevy zr2 springs? And get the lift out of it? Or is that not advised? Also what about the rear shocks? Do fox not have 2.0 by pass shocks for the ZR2? Also do the coilovers help everyday drive on streets?

    the lower you set the preload will it be softer? if I have it at 1.5 will it make a difference from 2 inches?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Год назад

      For the most part but from our experience, we have almost every kit we run on our rigs at the max preload and we don't feel the quality diminished in anyway. However, comfort, firmness, feeling, and etc. is all subjective and everyone will feel it differently.
