The tricks that these girls pull off are so good. Glad that some of them are throwing in tricks that aren't always the "main stream" contest type. The steez is real in the women's category.
All due respect to Chloe, Keet and Rayssa for obviously great runs but most of all for not be grabbing the skateboard all the time with their hands. This is something that should be valued a lot! Most of the street skaters that are grabbing the skateboard and walking through the course a lot are actually showing lack of confidence, like they're always having to restart in order to get it. This is not the streets where you must do it because of the urban obstacles and bad terrain. This is a perfect first class course that offers all kinds of connections and favors the flow. Call me old fashioned, but I do value a lot a nice flowing all connected run.
I agree, street comps do get a little boring, drop in, do trick jump off run to next section. They should be penalised for that, should be about how you flow round the course not solely about the one trick you do in between jumping off
Due to anticipated weather on Saturday, the athletes were informed on Friday to treat the Elimination as the Final in case Saturday's competitions were rained out. Ultimately all day rain on Saturday made the Elimination standings the Final result of the weekend.
I checked the competition schedule on the website to see when the final is and found this note: “Because day-long rain washed out Saturday’s entire slate of contests, standings from the four Eliminations held on Friday were declared final results: Men’s & Women’s Skateboard Park, Women’s Skateboard Street and BMX Park.”
THE IMAGE ON THIS VIDEO SAYS FINALS BUT IT'S JUST THE QUALIFIERS *edit: they cancelled due to rain and used the qualifiers to hand out medals… so lame and not fair to the athletes
I hate to be that guy but what on earth was Grace Marhoefer doing there? She is clearly so so so far behind the rest of the competition, in another dimension in terms of skill with most of the other competitors in this field. Her skating the same competition as these other insanely talented girls definitely felt pretty uncomfortable, but hey this is an Elimination round, so I guess this is bound to happen sometimes

It’s amazing how she really matured into a great style along with her technicality, she has a big bag of tricks on flat will be interesting to see her try more tech stuff in contests. She did as 360 big heel out of a nose slide on her Instagram, there’s a lot of big stuff she will likely incorporate in future contests when she’s confident about taking risks. It will be amazing to witness. Like when Yumeka did that kick flip into a feeble landing it bolts out of nowhere in a recent contest.
Course completed a day before competition? Fail..Fail X Games... How can these athletes be expected to bring their best without knowing the course in advance??
the japanese judges have to learn to be impartial, Rizu akama 1st run 80 with a fall and the last trick out of time, the 2nd run she missed the fs hurricane and passed to the fs boardslide did not catch the truck, again the last trick out of the time and even so her grade went up, Momiji 86 without any flips, Yumeka moved to 3rd place in the 1st run hitting only 2 tricks in a full run lol, are you kidding me? It sucks to compete when they favor home competitors
Perfeita análise, as japonesas foram realmente favorecidas . Assisti a competição toda e a volta da Rayssa foi a melhor e mais consistente . man... it makes me kinda sad. i was born in 1995 but i feel like when i was around 14 etc, there was no option for females to be doing this kinda stuff. i'm glad it's changed now. but at 28 i can't help but feel like i missed out on being accepted in male dominated fields.

From a 5.4 earthquake that struck Chiba, Japan in the early morning hours (while the skaters were still sleeping) to a rain delay that ultimately forced the women to use the prelims as their finals." (Source: girlisnota4letterword webpage) I think X Games should write it themselves under this video since many people are still waiting and anticipating the finals that won't apparently happen. Also it's a little bit misfortune cuz the athletes didn't know it would be their final score and may not have tried their best (saving their best for the finals as a tactic).

Love seeing women's skateboarding growing
Same, never used to bother watching women’s skate but it’s becoming my favourite, major progression
