The dells are by far in my opinion better than starved rock! Yes in the fall above the waterfall where you took the picture of the yellow flower with the waterfall in the background the tree above turns brilliant yellow and makes a beautiful background for a picture. Nice video
When I was younger the campgrounds was by the river next to the Starved Rock Park Boat Ramp... much nicer down there. But that area flooded at least twice a year so the park moved it to the present location.
This and starved rock are so busy, and this one also includes horse trails. So the wildlife knows how tyo disapear. Your best chance is always a hike at dawn, but this park isn't always ooen that early
@@leasing.life. the big waterfall at the dam was one I could not access from below, but it was available from above. And when I was there the parking area closest to the dells was closed.
Grew up walking these parks for miles, great video, seeing that waterfall is always worth the hike 😁
Different every visit
We did trip from Michigan. Glad we checked it out. We stayed at Starved Rock, but trip to Matthiessen was worth the short drive.
You have to stay in the lodge to feel like your part of starved rock. The campground may as well be for both parks
If you ever come back to the Illinois valley visit starved rock wildcat canyon HUGE in person
