    The beer is only compared to super expensive countries like the UK, Australia, Sweden etc. Beer is actually extremely overpriced in Thailand compared to the general cost of living. And more expensive than most European countries.

    • @bigchief2331
      @bigchief2331 5 лет назад

      yep 2.70 aud for a beer not particularly cheap, we pay 4-5 dollars during happy hours in australia but i think thats also extremely dear and most people prefer to buy or brew their own to save money. expected thailand to be more like 1 dollar per beer or less.

      apparently here in a cafe (never go there myself anymore) you pay 2.4€ for 25cl. They want to up the price to 3.2€ for 30cl. This is Jupiler blond beer in Belgium. I always drink the Chimay Cinq Cent. Hooked to that stuff. chimay.com/nl/bieres/blanche/ but that is a Triple beer, 8% alcohol. I drink too much of them ... 3 a day .... the price for a six pack is 7,89€ at the moment.

      Compare like for like.
      The cheapest bar prices in the UK are lower. Wetherspoon and other pubs sell beer for as little as £2 per pint. A pint equals two of those beers - at £1.45 each. It looks like s... hole as well

    I have been to Pattaya twice this year. Back again in a few weeks. I think high season is over forever. The place was not busy even last January. In June it was a ghost town, even at 10 pm at night. Still plenty of pretty girls around though, and beer for 70 baht. Now the girls must negotiate, 2000 long time maximum, apart from at go go, which are a rip off anyway.

As an 86 and a solo traveller with impaired mobility I use a walker (its is like a zimmer frame with wheels used throughout Australia)and feel that I have missed my chance of visiting Thailand. So it must be done through the means of RUclips.

And I was still able to ride my scooter around...with some puddle jumping. But the roads dried up soon. So Thailand any time of the year. It is a big country. Many places to visit.

    Here in Canada we pay 2.50 a beer.....maybe not in a restaurant or bar. But really you are just in some open air space which is nothing like a bar or restaurant here which are much nicer. I can go to vietnam or cambodia and save alot more on the same beer if beer was the only factor in deciding where i want to go to.
    You like pattaya cause it is your comfort place, you know where everything is and exactly what goes on there. So it feels like home to you, it isnt about finding something new....it is about going with something you already know.

    Nice video but these bars are very few, Most bars are 70+ baht for a drink and the Thai lady drink is around 120-170 baht. Also ladies are quoting 2000 baht short time. The currency rate of around 37 baht to pound is making Pattaya a costly destination.

    Totally agree with Johnson there. Thailand beer is not that cheap. With the bht string and western countries dollar falling does not make it cheap. Most bars in Thailand sell small Leo for about 80 to 100bht which is 5 dollars Australia. Most pubs in Australia you can get a beer for 5 bucks. So why goto Thailand you drink. 7 eleven put their coffee to 30bht that's 1.45aud at today's rate. Australia's 7 eleven sell the same coffee for 1 AUD. Why goto Thailand for a coffee? In saying that street food is cheap and tastes fantastic. Don't goto restaurant's you will pay about 3 times the price for the same food.

      Thanks. Actually, i was being a little sarcastic about the angry expats wanting to leave Thailand. So I meant "home" as their own countries. I am so "witty" Yes, Cambodia and Vietnam are cheaper. But I still like Thailand. Much variety and the ladies are so nice. Waiting for your next vlog.

    I really enjoyed this video. I also watched a couple of your other ones too. You get right down to what I wanna know - good man. In this one you also showed some interesting video about the place in question. I'm going to Pattaya for the first time ever in January 2020 - this being my second ever trip to Thailand. I was in Thailand in 1994, haha, 25 years ago. (the first time). I went to Bangkok for two nights and Koh Sumui for a few weeks. I remember playing 'One night in Bangkok' on the duke box at my hotel, in Bangkok on the patio outside in the evening. And in Koh Samui one guy said, 'Yeah, it was really good in in the past, but it's too commercialized now" Back then, I'm not sure, but I seem to remember thinking beer was the equivalent to about a £1 a bottle at that time. Anyhow as per your video here I think I can afford the beer so I'm going.

    hi Eddie,
    55 baht a bottle of heineken? maybe it's locally brewed. other than that, i prefer the "quiet september pattaya":-), maybe because my very first thai visit was in september (1987), compared with the crowdy pattaya december. i saw you bare-chested, hope you didn't swim in that filthy pattaya water! nice pics and informative vlog as always. thumb up #445

      Hi, Pique. Heineken is widespread in Vietnam as well, and it tastes like the real thing to me. As for Pattaya's water, well, I've never actually swam in it. It never looks inviting to me. Hope you're having a great weekend, mate.
