    Polymaker is hosting a 3D Printed Hook Tournament.
    We invited the 3D printing community to show off their engineering skills and design the strongest hook!
    During this single-elimination tournament, hooks are facing each other in a tensile strength contest until one of them breaks or let go. From the qualifiers to the final, only one will survive! However, the top 3 hooks will be rewarded with prizes.

    Notes:
    - We have now started to only use U-bolts to test the hooks as all the battles are breaking our metal S-hooks
    - Starting for the next round all the load values at break will be displayed
    - The last battle (#143 Raise 3D VS G1B3D) will be displayed in the next video.

      It looks like the u bolts are twisting some of the hooks quite substantially, the last in the video for example it is quite apparent in.

      Did you guys anticipate the toughness of the hooks? Just totally amazing material. It will be a staple of mine for unique jobs for sure.

      @@luckylarry5112 The material is for sure top notch, but the desings are what are beating the metal S hooks. Amazing! Even more so having in mind that most of the designs are human made and not generative designs or topologically optimized designs

      could you also do something about the video quality. It's extremly bad :(. Also some slow motions would be really great (even shot with a phone). A lot of the times you can't distinguish the winner. Otherwise great stuff :D

    Lots of u-bolts in this video. That means lots of stronger hooks. Good job everyone!
    Polymaker, you could cut down some of those long threads to make it easier to fit both hooks in the frame and zoom in. The u-bolts don't have to be so long.

    First spiral hook casulty 4:51 and I also managed to beat it while my hook was incorrectly mounted, the little hook thing at the end should hook around the middle of an S hook.

    • @Bordpie

      @@santiagoblandon3022 About 43g, I was going to make a bigger one (longer) but I didn't have time. It has as much material in the space constraint as I could fit but it's a little short.

      I love your design, right away I was annoyed that they subbed out the s-hook for a cable. Really happy you made it through and I really hope they go back to hooks for you. Good luck!!

    Guys, I have an idea: What if we; the remaining hooks till the moment, agree to give away 20% of the spools in case we get to the top 3 and share those 7 spools with the places 4 to 10? so those competitors don't go empty handed... getting to the top 10 is very tough.
    What do you think? We would have to arrange it with Polymaker and see if it's possible for them to do it

    • @twinturbostang
      @twinturbostang 3 года назад +2

      That's a nice gesture. I'm game. But how do we determine 9th and 10th place? The quarters have 8 contestants. So we'd have to go back to Round 5. But that has 16 remaining hooks.

    • @santiagoblandon3022
      @santiagoblandon3022 3 года назад +2

      @@twinturbostang I think Polymaker will test the remaining hooks or something like that I remember from the stream. But even if that's not the case, 2 spools for the 4th and 5th place and 1 for 6, 7, 8 :D
