Weak Security On iPhone? Here's The Fix!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 ноя 2024
- David and David explain why your iPhone says "Weak Security" and show you how to fix the problem for good. These steps will fix the problem on iPad too!
You're seeing this message on your iPhone because your Wi-Fi router isn't set to WPA2 (AES) or WPA3. Updating your router's security settings to either WPA2 (AES) or WPA3 will make it more secure, and the message on your iPhone will disappear.
If you can't change your router security settings to WPA2 (AES) or WPA3, it's time to get a new router.

Thank you for this much needed info! It was taking me a long time going thru the steps since I always had to stop and start the video. I gave up and called my provider. He walked me through it very slowly like any child does with their parent. 👍🏻 it is done! Thanks for bringing this type of info to our attention.
Way beyond my understanding, the consumer shouldn’t have to worry to much about this.
True true
Agree
Agree 100%. What a nightmare
I know this is an older video, but I can't express how helpful it was! I literally went out & bought a new router & modem thinking it was 'old'. Every.single.thing I researched said they were either old, out of date, burned out from running so long, dusty etc. Replacing them fixed nothing! I followed your instructions & my old equipment worked fine. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the helpful, easy to understand, instructions. I have subscribed, liked & hit my notifications as my only way to thank you since i'm broke from replacing perfectly good equipment instead of watching you.
Not only did this work perfectly but I now know how to communicate with my router. None of the other advice online aimed me in this direction.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I have had this wifi thing going on for over a year I had no idea what that meant I looked at so many videos but yours was the best I can’t believe I did it!!🤗 it took me about 10 min because I wasn’t sure where to find wireless security but after that it was so simple! Thanks guys 🤗
why would anybody give a thumbs down if you’re new iPhone owner like I am went and bought myself an iPhone 12 pro 😂 after using Samsung‘s for years I was really stuck Until I found Dave and Dave thanks guys use have help me unbelievably.
Same for me... I even think they both need capes, Because they always come to my rescue
I am sorry, but the issue is here, that there are actually people who haven’t gotten their home WLAN properly secured! And also: make it invisible!
a downvote would be appropriate if the video did not accomplish its purpose for the user; this solution proposed in this video does not seem to be feasible or analogous for my situation. I have the same problem but the instructions on how to fix it are not readily mirroring what the boys here propose, hence a downvote. a downvote is a means of communicating the usefulness of a video, there are times when it is appropriate. sd
Thanks 😊... I'm always satisfied 😌 with you GUY'S useful and informative videos ...
I am definitely not tech savy and I was able to easily use this info to find the same settings in my Xfinity router. If you don't know, you need to log into your Gateway and the setting is under Connection->Wi-Fi where you will see your network. Select the "EDIT" button and select the new "Security Mode" in the drop down. I had to do it twice - once for the 2.4 and oncefor the 5 GHz. Thanks guys for making it very simple.
So would be phone just be buggin if it says weak security, because I checked my network is set WAP2 already?
Another David here and thank you for the tip! My TP-Link default was set to auto for version and encryption was TKIP for some reason. Thanks to you no more weak WiFi connection alert.
Wow you guys are amazing. I fixed it and I’m a 71 yo grannie!!❤️😘🤗
Thanks so much guys, I was fu.... confused, I didn't need to watch the video until the end, problem solved !! Thanks again !!
OMG THANK YOU!!! The other tutorials were so wrong and I could barely understand the people talking. Thank you so very much for your easy to understand video. After only 2 minutes, the problem is solved. Woo hoo!!!
David and David love the work you guys are doing. Can you make a video on what’s the best anti virus for iPhone? Thanks.
i'm getting WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) not considered secure. it's telling me to configure to use WPA2(AES) or WPA3.
i can't even find the advanced section so i can follow you instructions
"Dummy" no more. Thank you guys. Gotta love, YT!
I don't understand. I want to know the user and password that must be entered before going to setup. What user must be entered? What is my name or name? And the password must be entered as the password used to connect to WiFi, right?
I found it very helpful, and was able to complete the steps to help my parents with their Wi-Fi. Thanks!
Love your videos keep up the great work guys🔥
This did not work for me and my iphone...with all the settings you recommended... until I turned off/on my iphone and my router, then success.
Help~~
I’ve done everything according to ur instruction and it’s still says “weak security”
I did it with safari, not on a computer, is that why?
Hi, I have a question. 😅 Does wifi calling drains battery on iPhones? Thank you. ✌️
No sir. You iPhone actually likes wi-fi calling because it uses less battery to send that call to the room across the hall instead of the tower across the neighborhood.
@@isaacbooth7361 Thanks a lot, mate. ✅👍
I use ZYXEL modem-router Model 03000Z (made for Centurylink) which does not have choice to select between encryption types. It just comes with the default WEP. Only Axon or Greenwave (C4000BG DSL Modem Router BG VDSL - up to 80 Mbps with pair-bonding made for Centurylink) have the option to change between Encryption (to AES).
But centurylink informed today that if I pick just 'WPA2 Personal' rather than 'WPA-WPA2 Personal,' (login>wireless setup>wirless security>security type), automatically the encryption will be AES.
Once I changed it WPA2 Personal, my phone did not show weak security anymore. It worked.
I was unable to log in to some of my apps, with a message claiming weak security. The WiFi setting on my iPhone also claimed that I had weak security. I called my ISP and after checking they assured me that my modem was using the WPA security protocol, and not the WEP protocol that my iPhone message claimed. I then clicked on the icon "Forget This Network" and after reconnecting, the problem seems to be resolved. I can now log in to apps that were previously blocked, and I no longer see the message on my iPhone that my network has weak security. Weird.
I have now done this twice and the router shows the security you show and still when turing on as weak security? any suggestions please , love your site thank you alan
My latest spectrum does not have access to the router does not grant me this type of access. My previous spectrum I did have access to all that. At the time of this comment my setup is an upgrade to my previous which I had for 6-7 years as of 5/15/2024 I upgraded about two months ago. I have a similar type of menu on their app but it doesn’t have all those options available. As of 5/14/2024 I noticed that apple wifi security issue message I changed my WiFi password because I did see a laptop connected to my WiFi and the other person that has access to my WiFi stated thT they don’t own that laptop so I created a new WiFi password but not being able to change my Wep to Wal/wpa2 personal will most likely bring me back to my issue again so do you have any suggestions?
Good explanation guys!
Thanks for all the information you provide!!
So nice of you to say, Ed! Thanks for your support.
Hey you guys r great! I’m a target of ongoing ID theft. Nothing stops it but sometimes I can slow it down. Thanks.
Does it also affect the speed of my Wi-Fi?? Cause actually with weak security Wi-Fi goes and come back every 5 min
My router settings was set to WPA/WPS Preshared Key, it was also set to TKIP/AES, yet I have a weak security warning as well on my iPhone wifi settings. :(
Same here. And it says recommended mode TKIP/AES
Same
Thank you so much guys ❤
You guys are the best Thanks
My wifi donsn’t have wap2AES option what is the Problem?
Really helpful video guys thank you so much
Do you have to do it on computer?
@Payette Forward Is it correct, all devices from 2006 and above are compatible with WPA2? Can you confirm please, coz i want to change my security asap. Still on WPA.
Hi,i’m searching to resolve and i try to change the protetion key but my router has not wpa 2 or 3,he only has wpa,wep and i try to put all of this but i can’t resolve…can you help me?thank you
My router is on WPA personal. Every other phones and computers are working fine and on WPA except my iphone 15 pro max. I cant seem to open the ip router because theres no internet. How do i set this up manually from my phone
For people who can't select AES encryption, how to you tell the iPhone to shut up and use it anyway? Thanks.
Thanks for the demo. Another nice, easy guide to follow.
However, my router is already set to WPA2/ AES yet my various apple products- one 2018 ipad, two 2020 ipads, iphone 12 and an iphone SE display the "weak security" message as shown in your video. In each case, I've made the device "forget" the network then reconnected. I've power cycled the router multiple times. Same message appears. All of the solutions I've seen on the internet give the same advice as you guys do, assuming the security is set to WEP.
It's a quirk that's annoying the sh!t out of me. Any advice and help you can give would be appreciated.
By the way, my android devices, phones and TV's as well as my various games consoles, show the security is set at WPA2.
Please help.
I'm in the same boat, got no idea what to do :-(
I have the same problem any solution 😭
@@maxdavies9958 u find a solution?
@@thebestmaria3030 Yes I managed to fix it playing around in the router settings, I think I tried the different security types and found one that didn't come up with the weak security message. (can't remember exactly what I did) have a play around with the settings for a while and see if you can get it to work.
Thank you David & David👍🏽
How about weak security while installing Portable hotspot device by Alcatel bought from the cell carrier with apple cell or iPads.Needs help !!!
I really recommend this video 👍 very easy to understand and also to learn from i really appreciate you guys great job 👏
Do i have to click the same setting for 2.4 and 5g channels??
Can I still do this on my phone ?
Thank you for this walkthrough!
Super helpful, and brunette David can get it.
Thank you! It helped me a lot!
I just checked and mine is wpa2 but on my moms phone it shows weak security but my phone is fine???
I forgot the network for her phone and retyped the password and no longer weak security so I'm confused on why it was like that for her phone alone, even though the internet has technically always been wpa2
Thank you so much and I have the same router you have.
I reset my wifi router, seemed to solve the issue.
Brilliant boys you've solved it!
Thank you so much guys 🙏 I really appreciate that
No problem! Thanks for watching!
With pleasure
How do i do this on my phone ?my computer is fine but my ipad are the ones that are saying weakk security?
I’ve just deleted my old phones in ( click your name in settings & go down to bottom ) voilà my weak settings message has gone, after needlessly faffing about with my router
I wish you guys wouldn't talk so fast. We older folks get totally lost, and have to go over and over the video to get all the info. But thanks for the help. Now I have to give it a try...
If you have a router with 2.5 and 5G the 5G doesnt change from weak security. How do you change that?
Thank you for every thing you guys excellent 🙏
I don’t have ADVANCED SETTINGS for my router settings
Thanks again 🚀
I did this and it still says weak security it was already on all of those settings
Do you have a complete Beginner's guide for Iphone 12
Saved my time, thank you! ✅
Ok what if your already invaded by Hackett or who ever ? Is this going to make a difference!?!? I have servers that can move past those settings because I’m already IN! So by using tools in admin I can hurry up and fix a string of things and stay dormant!??
thanks. i really appreciate that
Thanks bro
And also I subscribed your channel and shared with other people and friends
THANK YOU!
It worked!!!!! Thanks
Love your videos
Are most of the new routers wpa 3 now, I have read about it seems like it would be more secure than WPA 2 but WPA 2 personal AES,is still good. I would imagine most of the newer tech would connect to WPA 3 ?
Wowi I understood that explanation.
Thank you so much. 😊
How do I get into my router if I have no idea what the number is ?
Thank you. It’s worked
It never used to only started a few months ago
Hello guys hope you can help me I have change my Apple ID but sometimes my old Apple ID keeps popping up asking me to put password in but I don’t have any devices on it please can you help
Great info, thanks
i followed the directions exactly and it didn't work on iphone 6s plus. it still says weak security. my router says WPA2 (AES)?
I don’t have this setting
My router already said WPA-TKIP & WPA2-AES but it’s still telling me not Secure and that I need a WPA3 router. Bummer
Bro I have AT&T and it won’t let me change it
How do you get router info from ATT modem? Paulette
If I turn off my phone so I cut down on EMF while I sleep do I need to turn on airplane mode first or does it matter?
It doesn’t matter, but flight mode with cellular/Wifi disabled is enough. You don’t need to switch your mobile device off completely. Also on your router, disable wifi for the time you sleep.
thanks
David and David: Do you advise checking one’s router settings if WEP does NOT show up in Wi-Fi settings on iPhone?
I’d also like to know if this is a problem. It didn’t show up on my phone settings
Great advice! Thanks a
Thanks...I checked mine and didn’t have the weak security.
Good info but you forgot to click on Hide SSID.
Thanks guys, I get a weak signal on my dlink not att router, and since when have you guys been running a marathon when you give instructions, slow down please 👍
Whenever I click on the router IP address, it says this page isn’t working, and it sent an invalid response. Anyone have a fix?
I have “weak security”, century link C3000Z router; my security type is set to “WPA - WPA 2 Personal” and apple iPhone is telling me it needs to be changed to either “WPA2 (AES) or WPA3”, neither of which seem to be options when i log in to my router. any guidance?
Same here Stephen, did you find a solution for this ?
@@soufianeb3l same here, logged into the TP link site , I also have a AC1750 router as shown in this vid, I made sure WPA 2 was selected (configured), don't have the WPS 3 option, but the Weak Security warning remains on my Iphone 8 and telling me to configure the router ? On my IMac using this same router it does not have the Weak Security Warning. Any ideas or advice please...?
Just did my thanks
Thanks guys.
Thank u so much
im originally from UK, and my phone worked really well there, but it doesn't in austin, i think it's just my phone
