So much respect for your quick segment about using your platform for social justice 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 i definitely know what you mean when you say Asian Americans are so silent sometimes when it comes to social justice and activism and I'm so happy that you're not afraid to be yourself despite knowing that!!!
Hi Amy! I never comment but idk something drew me to write to you. I've been subscribed to you since waaaaay back.. Maybe 2-3 years ago and I've always loved your content but I haven't identified to you more than right now.. In the past few months you've been showing us who you are and I find that it broke this kind of wall that prevented your channel from growing or that plateau you were stuck at like you said in a previous video. As weird as it is to say, i literally feel like you're talking to us, just chatting and I love it because you truly are a beautiful person with an equally beautiful soul. As a black girl, thank you for using your platform to talk about real issues that POC and especially WOC face everyday with mass media and general social encounters. As i follow a lot of WOC on youtube who also have fashion as the centerpiece of their channel, I've come to find that mostly the black ones are comfortable enough to talk about social justice in their videos or to encourage a dialogue with their viewers, which could be because given the current political climate, this really is our reality and our everyday struggle. But you're the first non-black WOC i've come across who keeps it real about being a minority in white america AND being a woman in patriarchal america. I do follow other women of colour on ig who speak up about the struggles of being a poc, but I feel like youtube lacks this realness, because let's be real, it is the world we live in and to not talk about that distances youtubers or makes them lack authenticity (in my opinion) and idk I'm rambling so imma stop right here... All this to say KEEP BEING U GIRL BECAUSE YOU'RE KILLING IT. ❣
I love that you talk about politics and social justice! I feel like those topics aren't addressed by a lot of RUclipsrs and it's very refreshing to hear you talk about these issues
yes, makeup is fun, it's art. beauty, fashion, all amazing. but THANK YOU for using your platform of 300,000 to talk about things that are so much more important - mental health, social justice, politics, self love, vulnerabilities, growth and the list goes on. i wish more youtubers used their platform for things like this! we really never know what's going on in other people's lives and talking about these things openly creates such a open and comfortable environment where people are like "wow, me too" and not being so afraid of talking about "taboo" subjects. and even creating a small community in the comments sections hahaha yay amy much love. have a good day, love!
Amy. You among many other youtubers damn near raised me since high school 😭. I really appreciate you standing up for social justice and utilizing your platform to educate your viewers. I’ve always been criticized by my peers for standing up for different social justice issues such as black rights for example. I always get told that it’s not my problem so I shouldn’t worry about it. I feel like people lack compassion/empathy. Thank you for being amazing. I love you! I hope the Universe allows us to cross path one day. ✨
boi amy U KILLED THIS VIDEO i was feeling this particular AM w AMY so hard!! u touched on my two of my fav things, music n social justice, like u don't even kno. my roommate and i discuss asian american activism all the time and i was glad u talked a lil bit about it and also just how unapologetic u are about using ur platform, GIRL YES. keep up the good work, i'm so proud n happy about how far u have come!!!!
I love Jamila Woods!!!!!! Thank you so much for mentioning her because she’s so underrated and her songs have messages that are important. I would also suggest Noname who raps on VRY BLK if you haven’t looked up her music yet. Her NPR tiny desk concert was amazing! And thank you in general for using your platform to bring attention to other WOC and social justice issues. I feel a lot of beauty gurus on RUclips avoid talking about it for the sake of their image. You are awesome! Please keep doing this! 🙌🏾❤️
Thank you for sharing the Colors video of Raveena the other day on your Insta story! I am obsessed with her now, and "If Only" is so great 😭 literally listen to it every time I get into the car
I’m so happy that you’ve become more open about your stance on social justice. As a South Asian American that’s passionate about social justice, I’ve always felt out of place in my own skin. The Asian community has such a long way to go in a system that allows us to benefit from our proximity to whiteness so much. It’s reassuring to see other Asian Americans take it upon themselves to do this work and I admire you for it. And of course thank you for the music recs, can never have too many woc on my playlists.
some of my fav woc artists is kehlani, YUNA, Wafia. Princess Nokia, Lizzo, im getting into Cardi B too. I’m in love with the carefree and self loving vibes i get from kehlani which is great to see and experience as shes out as bi and a woc. Yuna and Wafia are more rnb and indie, both have collabed w a bunch of ppl before so i wouldnt be suprised if u listen to them already but i think ud rlly like them both. Yuna is honest and true in the way she sings and wafias sound is so unique and reverent not to mention how much i love her lyrics! and Princess Nokia and Cardi B have been big names this year and im so proud of them both for bring more women into the rap industry. Both are such succes stories that inspire us so much Princess Nokia reminds me to be proud as an individual and stay true to our own experience and passions and Cardi B’s bodak yellow is the anthem for all boss as bitches out there honestly. Lizzo has been a long time favourite theres nothing I dont like from her but my favourites are her albumn Coconut Oil and her singles Truth Hurts and Water Me. Her voice is beautiful and her songs are just empowering to listen to?? Good as Hell and Scuse Me are the songs that get me pumped in the morning when im in need of some good energy to start me day. Loved this weeks topic Amy and love you!
I was so happy when I saw this vid because I usually listen to kpop, but I'm getting a little bored and I've been looking for non-kpop artists recently and girl, you delivered! Thanks so much for artist recs, it gave me a breath of fresh air. ^^ Also YAS FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE! I interned at my school's Asian American cultural center last year and it made me want to become more informed and involved about social justice and I'm so glad you're being more vocal about it on your channel :D Love you Amy!
Kristine Claire yay I’m so glad I could help ya branch out a little :-) which kpop artists do you love?!! And yessss to the social justice awareness 👏🏽
I slipped and face planted into the diamond life and are head over heels for Seventeen! LOL They're my ultimate bias group but I also love BTS, Blackpink, Red Velvet, and DAY6. I've been a kpop fan for 8 years now so a lot of my OG faves are gone or aren't as active but those are my faves as of now :)
Amy I’ve been watching you since we both have been in high school and I never felt like you were fake. You have always been true to yourself to me I appreciate the love you have for every culture.
Your channel is such a huge breath of fresh air from the typical asian 'beauty/fashion' guru channels. I love that you've opened up and are now not afraid to be yourself and talk about shit that matter. Politics and social justice aren't talked about amongst Asian RUclipsrs, and it's really frustrating because of how impactful they can be if they actually spoke up. SO GO YOU! KEEP IT UP.
Amy, I really admire your passion for equality and inclusion. 🙌🏼 On a different note, I'm loving your black hair! I'm thinking of going from my brown ombré back to my natural black again, and seeing you with black hair has sealed the deal. I'm doing it!!
Omg that heart pin is ADORBBBBS!!! Thx for the music recs, very much in need of new music. And OMG I get so frustrated when my asian friends don't seem to care/pay attn to social justice issues 😭 I need someone to go with to social justice events! Hahah. Stay woke guuuurrrl!!
Ronilleen Maglian thank you ronilleen!!!! And there are asian American friends out there who will def support you/our endeavors!!! 💕💕💕 please expect your care package in feb! I gotta do it when I’m back from Thailand!
Honestly Amy my love for u grows every video! Fellow Aquarius here, we really are all about the people, keep doing you and I hope u have a great week! 💕💕💕
Love you Amy! I didn’t get to watch it until today due to so much stress and your upbeat attitude totally just brought up my spirit. Thank you so much, I wish you could release one everyday 😭
Please give these two WOC artist a listen!!! RAY BLK's "My Hood," "Doing Me," "Patience" and "Chill Out" are some of my personal faves from this London based R&B artist. JOY CROOKES's "Power" is a must listen for me, an unapologetic and empowering song about being female. Please keep using your platform to shed light on important issues and to spread love. Much love! 💓 💓 💓 Do it for the culture. 💓 💓 💓 And yes on NO MORE self-deprecating humor in 2018. 💓 💓 💓
You are so freaking awesome. Thank you for being inspiring to meeeee! I watch your videos while I get ready in the morning. It puts me in a great mindset to start my day.
I started following you a long long time ago, the first video i watched from you was the "over the knee socks" and i kinda stopped watching your videos for a while but since your video "getting personal with you" about the time you started the series Amwithamy, i totally fell in love again with you! I just think that everything you talk about is so interesting, i loved the podcasts you suggested and i definitely think we have the same taste in music ! I just LOVEEEEE SZA so much and i watch every genius verified videos ! You probably know about her, but i really love Jhene Aiko and i just wanted to mentionned her in case you never took the time to listen to her music. I also think that Anderson Paak would be an artist that you would enjoy. I'm hoping that you read my comment !!! Love you Amy
i love your music taste! i became obsessed with sabrina claudio when you mentioned one of her songs in your video! cant wait to listen to these artists too :) ❤️
Thank you for this video Amy! So refreshing hearing about social justice on RUclips. I'm actually also trying to read more books / listen to music from people of color and watching shows/movies with more diversity. When you were talking about Asian Americans it completely resonate with me, although I think you guys are doing better than us, Asian French (and I would even say Asian European)
AMY! you are so adorable! I am an expecting mother and seeing you in this video makes me look so forward to my daughter growing up! I loved your video featuring your mom btw :)
Hi!! I'm a freshmen in college trying to find myself and lately I've been watching all your videos of the AM and I really like them!. I find your content something that I want to get deep in. So I was wondering if you could make a video recommending books that you have read ( about finding yourself,energies,purposes...) for college students or just anyone who wants to get deep in this topics. Thanks!!
Love this, Ive been needing new music! Is it me or did everyone go darker? Claires darker, Jenns darker, and Amy went dark to! I love it 😍 the new hair is beautiful ladies 💕

i looove love kali uchis too! you should give princess nokia and junglepussy a listen if you haven't. they're all about self-love, positivity, raising the status of woc, healing yourself, etc. i'm obsessed with them.
That was less addressing a hate comment and more making something clear that we can all admit to forgetting sometimes: RUclipsrs have a life outside of the video!
