He's able to emotionally manipulate and charm people to do his bidding/believe him in a way that the ultra socially awkward and isolated L and Near are not able to. It's this strong sense of charisma and emotional intelligence that helps fool so many people for so long, and gets useful assets like Misa and Takada to do what he wants. And his understanding of the emotional motivations of people is what allows him to manufacture the situation where Rem feels pressured to kill L to save Misa.
Misa's IQ seems to be a bit high so what she has shown is, by the margin, according to the author of Death note, actually L's IQ is lower than Light's (probably Near too), but the anime did change that.

Misa, Aizawa and Soichiro's IQs are lower than this. According to the guide book released by Tsugumi Ohba, I think Misa's IQ was somewhat like 120 and Aizawa, Soichiro's IQ fell in the 130-135 range.

Misa, Aizawa and Soichiro's IQs are lower than this. According to the guide book released by Tsugumi Ohba, I think Misa's IQ was somewhat like 120 and Aizawa, Soichiro's IQ fell in the 130-135 range.

Saying BB is equal to L is absolutely wild, It's a canon fact that Mello and Near are around equal to BB. BB wasn't even the smartest person in his generation, that was 'A', who felt so inferior to L that he killed himself. L is by far the most intelligent, then its Light, Near and BB, then Mello. L solved that case the second he got the riddles - he was *waiting* for BB to act.

In the manga, you will see diagrams about Intelligence, Acting Skills, Creativity, Social Life, Willingness to Act, & Motivation. Clearly, there you'll see that Light is a complete genius character!!

Actually that has been proven to be mistranslated. Where it says intelligence it is actually supposed to be ranking knowledge, which Light and Near probably only rank higher than L because they know about the deathnote. When it comes to overall intelligence, the writer has said that L is the smartest.

These estimates were made by someone who's never seen Death Note, has no understanding of the plot and characters and/or is totally oblivious as to how IQ measures intellect. In NO WAY is there any evidence to support that Misa is smarter than Raye Penber, and actually the implications are contrary to the fullest. Furthermore, any one of these characters possessing a quotient above 180 is absurd, there are only a handful of real-world geniuses that would ever test that high, and they certainly wouldn't work in the profession of any character in this list. My top 3 estimate, in this order, is (3) Light Yagami (≈140-150), (2) L (≈145-155), (1) Near (>160).
