To the people in the chat who said “stop adding story” or “why is there story???” You didnt look very far into any of the doom games did you? Also if the gameplay looks a little slow, reminder that the last 2 doom games had a super slow gameplay showcase compared to its actual speed, and theres a slider to change it!
you cut off your reaction at 7:58? Other than that great vid. Man I am a bit worried that the skill ceiling has dropped and the game will be missing verticality. They also basically dropped glory kills and instead just added ragdolls... Kinda seems like a step back, though step towards 90s doom. I'm sure it will be awesome, as I have faith in ID, but not quite as excited for this as I was for Doom Eternal before release. Hopefully later game areas will be more challenging than what they have shown. That being said This is still 100% my most anticipated game of 2025. It looks badass. Just quite different.

It will most likely have some skill ceiling , still something to master but don't expect to be just like Doom Eternal again, that's for sure and much less verticality or bearly makes sense considering the philosophy for this one . Going more classic then ever before, it is a nice refreshing change, considering how bananas they went with that in Doom Eternal and i very much like Doom Eternal as well .
for the skill ceiling, keep in mind how simple the 90s DOOM games are and how much skill and knowledge it still takes to be truly good at them. i'm sure it'll be something similar with Dark Ages
Glory kills are still in the game though but not as an animation. Players now have more freedom when it comes to glory kills. You can maim demons in different ways yourself using melee weapons and you can also combine them with regular weapons as well.
Your physics lesson is incorrect though. In your example, the machine doesn’t work since the force is being applied to the same body that is applying it. In the slayer’s case, he and his shield are two distinct bodies with one force acting between them; that is to say the force that pulls the shield to the slayer is the same force that pulls the slayer toward his shield. This is Newton’s second law at work, and we can apply the formula F=ma to it. The force remains constant, but the slayers mass is almost certainly higher than that of the shield, meaning the shield will accelerate faster to compensate, while the slayer will not accelerate as much, but still do so toward his shield until it reaches his arm. So while I can’t math out how realistically significant the boost the slayer would get from this maneuver is, or whether it’d just rip his arm off rather than heighten his jump, the principle is sound, and it looks cool which is what matters On a side note, this is a very fun and informative reaction/breakdown, super hype for this game!!

I just cannot comprehend the price, in the US it's 70$/100$, in EU it is 80€/110€. Bullshit if you ask me, no game is worth that much and I bet it wont have more than 30 hours of content
Probably not unless they go out of their way to optimize a version for steam deck similar to the Nintendo switch ports of the previous two dooms, don't count on that. It will be coming out on Xbox series s though which you can find used for 200 dollars.
This game looks incredibily boring, im glad they got rid of those horrid executions killing pace of game but leaving all shield actions on one input and them making it sound like a good thing, they should just keep you on railroads and mash X to complete game faster, open play space falls into same problem as elden ring, the appeal of DOOM is arena fights, although doom has platforming its not known for it nor fun, now its harder for developer to anticipate players routing when they experience things
