Your physics lesson is incorrect though. In your example, the machine doesn’t work since the force is being applied to the same body that is applying it. In the slayer’s case, he and his shield are two distinct bodies with one force acting between them; that is to say the force that pulls the shield to the slayer is the same force that pulls the slayer toward his shield. This is Newton’s second law at work, and we can apply the formula F=ma to it. The force remains constant, but the slayers mass is almost certainly higher than that of the shield, meaning the shield will accelerate faster to compensate, while the slayer will not accelerate as much, but still do so toward his shield until it reaches his arm. So while I can’t math out how realistically significant the boost the slayer would get from this maneuver is, or whether it’d just rip his arm off rather than heighten his jump, the principle is sound, and it looks cool which is what matters On a side note, this is a very fun and informative reaction/breakdown, super hype for this game!!

Actually, with not how wrong it is, with how much you misunderstood the point. The shield is knocked off the wall when He jumps, meaning when both bodies collide... the speed will be 0... over the gorge. The only way it doesn't happen, if physics screws up and gives the doomguy disproportionately more speed than newton's 3rd law will allow The same principle is why the magnetic car doesn't work. But it would work, if the magnet pulled on more force than the metal block generated via newton's third law

This game looks incredibily boring, im glad they got rid of those horrid executions killing pace of game but leaving all shield actions on one input and them making it sound like a good thing, they should just keep you on railroads and mash X to complete game faster, open play space falls into same problem as elden ring, the appeal of DOOM is arena fights, although doom has platforming its not known for it nor fun, now its harder for developer to anticipate players routing when they experience things

To the people in the chat who said “stop adding story” or “why is there story???” You didnt look very far into any of the doom games did you? Also if the gameplay looks a little slow, reminder that the last 2 doom games had a super slow gameplay showcase compared to its actual speed, and theres a slider to change it!

you cut off your reaction at 7:58? Other than that great vid. Man I am a bit worried that the skill ceiling has dropped and the game will be missing verticality. They also basically dropped glory kills and instead just added ragdolls... Kinda seems like a step back, though step towards 90s doom. I'm sure it will be awesome, as I have faith in ID, but not quite as excited for this as I was for Doom Eternal before release. Hopefully later game areas will be more challenging than what they have shown. That being said This is still 100% my most anticipated game of 2025. It looks badass. Just quite different.

It will most likely have some skill ceiling , still something to master but don't expect to be just like Doom Eternal again, that's for sure and much less verticality or bearly makes sense considering the philosophy for this one . Going more classic then ever before, it is a nice refreshing change, considering how bananas they went with that in Doom Eternal and i very much like Doom Eternal as well .
for the skill ceiling, keep in mind how simple the 90s DOOM games are and how much skill and knowledge it still takes to be truly good at them. i'm sure it'll be something similar with Dark Ages
Glory kills are still in the game though but not as an animation. Players now have more freedom when it comes to glory kills. You can maim demons in different ways yourself using melee weapons and you can also combine them with regular weapons as well.
Nice , i was hoping for this , also, you should check the new someordinarygames/mutahar he was talking about how a lot of the specs for new games suck and was comparing dark ages so i wanna know what's you pov on that since you seem to know a lot too... Probably not unless they go out of their way to optimize a version for steam deck similar to the Nintendo switch ports of the previous two dooms, don't count on that. It will be coming out on Xbox series s though which you can find used for 200 dollars.

2:14:30 - Not *all* cases. ATP will activate on mission success or fail-safe. If it is in “working” state, ATP remains inactive, while other aspects are working on the mission.
I think to "Get" the ending you need both the deep thought required to get there and the deep feeling/attachment to the world. I've watched WAY too many playthroughs of this game (it's a common addiction) and I think for people playing through with an audience it's a lot harder to connect emotionally to the ending. You're not going to do a close reading of every conversation, and fully explore every dialog tree because you're trying to keep the viewers engaged so there's something keeping you from getting fully immersed. For me the end was about coming to terms with the things you can't change, accepting loss, mourning, but knowing something new and amazing can come from it. If you're too analytical about the game design or the physics of the Eye then I can see the ending missing for you.
I get the ending, from a theme perspective. It's just that none of what happens really makes all that much sense? With quantum mirroring (or whatever it's called), like... the ending being the same (outside of a couple characters) is just a major missed opportunity. Hell I agree with you about the interpretation. It's just contrivance and non-adherence to the games own rules freaking take me out of the experience, and it just gets worse the more I think about it.
Your playthrough may not have included all of the people, but most of us are raging completionists. ;) Also, the character would know everyone. But you also see that better in the DLC ending.

@@Pastro_yeah but you hear so much about a whole civilization trying their all to get to the eye, you reach it and your biggest issue is what, some objects being preprigrammed and not also all functioning quantum objects? you know that there is no reason for one to be there for the person not trying to get a rock in place there. also if you had launched your scout anywhere up or into the eye it would have vanished either way.

I also didn't "get" the ending at all on my playthrough, I didn't spend much time bonding with the other characters, even skipping through some dialogue I thought was boring (a friend who loved the game basically forced me to play Outer Wilds and I'm usually not the right player for a game like this, whatever "type of game" Outer Wilds even is). But over the past few years I've come to love the ending and I wish I had been more attentive during my playthrough. Reading more carefully instead of just brute forcing my way. The instrument collecting and campfire scenes reflect the journey well while being weird enough for players to insert their own interpretations and memories - It's comparable to 2001 A Space Odyssey's ending, which I'm sure the devs were alluding to in no small part. The big bang and the post-credits scene at the end are so much more meaningful than the "you managed to prevent the supernova and the Hearthians live happily ever after" route, which I was expecting and hoping for back then. Regardless, I enjoyed your supercut and thoughts!

8:22 I think what you meant to say is that they spin the same direction throughout the entire magnet. Not in the opposite direction in the bottom. So that if would split the magnet, not necessarily in the middle, you would now have two smaller magnets.

40 minutes in this is my favorite outer wilds play through in a looong time. The mix of terror and excitement is very fun and your cheeriness is just pleasant to be around. I'm gathering from the other comment that you didn't enjoy the ending, which makes me sad ahead of time. But for what it's worth I didn't originally like the ending that much. I felt that it was too out there and the mechanics of going through it felt like an unnecessary hindrance. And I got emotional without really understanding why, which didn't help. It's only on watching other people play through it and hearing other people's perspectives on it that it really grew on me. Clearly my issues with it weren't the same as yours, but I have so much appreciation for the ending now. edit: Hm, I'm surprised you didn't feel more of an affinity to the characters with how clearly you enjoyed the writing, but I guess that I've also gotten more and more attached to them with this endless search of more blind playthroughs to try and relive the first experience. You did read the discussion of the modern Nomai about how there are fewer and fewer star systems that haven't gone supernova, and most people notice *constant* supernovas in the sky throughout the loop and come to the conclusion the universe is ending. If you talk to Chert (especially close to the end of the loop) they do draw way more attention to it. Also I don't quite agree with your opinion that a piece of art that you need to continue thinking about is in any way lesser than one you completely process while experiencing it. ps. This ended up sounding more critical than necessary. I really enjoyed retroactively following along your journey!
Hey, glad you enjoyed! Alot of what you mentioned I did infact experience, I just didn't really find it all that interesting and thus did not make the supercut. Suppose that's just subjective and all that. I just find it... well... gray on what *defines* a universe dead and all that. Like... all species dead is really just centric on the viewpoint that sapient life is all that maters. But like... don't the particles existing matter at all? Is it only life that's important? These are aspects which the game doesn't touch on which I would have liked some justification and/or some discussion of. I mean, after all, life is just a bunch of matter interacting with eachother, what's the difference if it takes a form human-like or not? It might be a bit beyond the scope, but I feel it ties in to much with the themes of the game that it's a disservice to not mention it at some point. Don't get me wrong. Still very much enjoy this game. I'm just a sourpuss on the ending. Very much love the gameplay tho!
@@Pastro_ Once all stars, the main source of energy and life, have supernova'd, they are converting a lot of heavy elements into energy, effectively "lowering" the amount of matter in space. And in any case, the universe is so expanded that it's almost impossible to wait until the exploded gas forms back into single masses, probably still not enough to create stars. In short, the Eye "thinks" it's just better to start from scratch. Well, not really from scratch, but with the ideas and experiences of the observer.
Not really sure how the ending wasn't going through your journey. Each planet had one of your friends that helped you along the way. Maybe you might have not spoken to them all that much but each one actually has a lot of dialogue. Additionally if you never make it to the sixth location and speak with solanum she never shows up in the ending (which also reflects your journey). Obviously it's a little cryptic but the idea is that the ancient glaive was basically all in his mind. The best evidence for that is the fact that solanum is speaking to you. She doesn't really know the language and you needed stones to communicate before but there she was talking with you in the end. One of the main themes of the game is accepting the end and moving on to something new. I think the ending perfectly reflected that, it was basically one final goodbye before jumpstarting a new universe.
Ending didn't go through my journey, it focused on the people I met. The people you meet aren't the journey, you walking everywhere and exploring is the journey. Of course, mileage varies if you spoke with everyone religiously. It could be some people's journeys, Isn't mine tho. Bet others felt the same way
