  • Some of you, my dear viewers, sent me messages about your roses not blooming.
    The nature of the rose is to bloom. It is not just a shrub with a beautiful green foliage. It is designed to create beautiful blooms to delight us in our gardens. And if your rose refuses to do it, there has to be a reason.
    In this video I am explaining possible problems, show you situations in my garden and give solutions how to fix it.
    Enjoy and let me know what you think (don't hesitate to ask if I missed something).

    Fantastic video. Those long shoots can be pinned down and they will develop buds. Also aphids are attracted to roses that are in high nitrogen or high ammonia soil. So no pets near them, and no high nitrogen fertilizer as you pointed out earlier. I do not use cow manure as that also has high nitrogen.

      It is hard to say without looking. If you have scorch, marginal necrosis, it can be over fertilization, drought stress, accumulation of salts…if the leaves are just curled, look inside them, very often insects can be inside them…Sometimes, over Application of sprays can cause that damage. Think what your did to your rose recently.

    I love hearing all your tips, as we too like to garden with natural fertilizers, and I want to encourage all my new roses next year. I planted 3 bareroot DA roses this year. 2 Wisley, and an Olivia Rose Austin. Then my son found 3 more for me at 75% off at the nursery, so I have 1 tranquility, and 2 Imogen. I plant to buy more next year. Is it typical for the bareroot roses to take some time to settle in? I had some growth and blooms, but they are not real robust , especially my Olivia. I am in zone 5b, Illinois.

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  3 года назад +1

      I always wanted Olivia Rose, it is a high candidate for my front flower border which I am going to install this coming spring. I want to put together 5-7 roses of the same variety and train it as one big bombastic bush. 75% sounds so good! Those roses are an investment indeed!
      As for the performance, roses perform so differently in different parts of the world. For me, bare roots do very well and leaf out pretty strong. My advice to you will be: don't panic, it is nothing you did, maybe your rose was kept in the cold storage (after being harvested from the field) too long and used its energy to stay alive before it reached you. Don't be tempted to water it more or fertilize it more. Just let nature take its course. And Enjoy!

It has a beautiful foliage and get frequent infestation with insects that I don’t know if are aphids, the leaves are curly and seems burned. Hi Wen, My local stores ran out of Rosetone and I had to use Plant tone. You can substitute it , just use less of Planttone. It is a bit higher in first number ( nitrogen), which is responsible for strong leaf growth. You want your rose to bloom.
