I’m a big PXG irons/wedge guy. Haven’t been huge on their drivers. Currently gaming Gen 6 P irons; Gen 5 XP Hybrid, and SD 2 wedges. Had to go Taylormade stealth driver though. Nice seeing their drivers are becoming respectable to match the quality of the other clubs.
I have the Gen 5 0311 XF driver and it is the best driver I've ever had. I replaced the stock shaft with the Graphite Design AD Tour DI shaft and then the club just went crazy long. It is the driver that took my most favored Epic Flash out of the bag. Cannot wait to hit the Gen 6 drivers. Great review.
Agreed, bought one 3 days ago and driving some par 4's that have never been reachable for me. Greens in reg are way up having 8-pw into Greens instead of 5-6 iron. The flat lie settings have nullified my left side miss completely
I enjoyed the acknowledgement of the sound difference inside versus out, and to keep that in mind as most of us northerners get fit inside for drivers. Along that same lines, would be interesting to see some other common differences between indoor and outdoor fits. Launch and spin off mats for irons is the topic that initially comes to mind (and would not be surprised is there was a video on this already :)) enjoyed this!
Funny how PXG paved the way for the higher “premium” price point, and now that all of the big boys decided to follow suit with their driver pricing, PXG is pivoting to come in underneath. Be interesting to see how it plays out long term for them.
I was thinking the same thing. Part of me thinks it was a case of marketing, coming out high everyone hears about them and what their story/angle is. Now they've probably cut the production costs significantly since they're not starting up anymore, plus they're already an established player so they can eat some of their margin to get in to more hands with out being known as the "cheaper brand".
@@Bleda2002 Agree with everything you wrote. They may also feel like there’s no market edge in being just another “premium brand” when the entire industry is starting to trend that way.
Brilliant if that was always the long term plan. The majority of average golfers I run into always make comments to me about my irons if they look at my bag. They act like I am driving a Bently or wearing a Rolex. They were $99 an iron lol.
Tried last years model. Bought it. Brought it to the course and used it for about 6 weeks and returned it for my Epic Flash SZ which was better all round.
When you do the Gen 6 iron reviews, it would be great to see numbers from both the P series 6 iron and the XP series 7 iron. That would show if there is any real difference in the two models (other than sole size) besides the number stamped on the sole.
I've been looking at PXG for over 2 years now... this is the year I'll pull the trigger. Their woods IMHO were always their weakest link but it appears that they've found the secret sauce. Perhaps a full PXG bag. 😛
Always felt like PXG was bought for show. There is now some go in them too. Still a bit too shouty a brand for me (Ping and Mizuno are my go-tos), but they are definitely changing my perception.
I played Mizuno for 20 years. PXG Gen 3 irons won my heart. The hybrids & fairways have been good for a while but the driver sucked. Looks like they finally got the driver right this year.
Please do a review of the 0311 XF with mid-handicap golfer's speeds. At 79 I'm happy with my ball speed matching Mat's club head speed. Using my 2008 Rogue driver my average distance is 220 yards, including slice, and trying to decide if a new driver would add anything to my bag. 🙄
Love the videos gentlemen. Question, looking over my build sheet from Club Champion from 2020. Should everything have the same swing weight? My driver to wedges are all D6. Average swing speed of 100 for driver and 85 for 7 iron. Any info would be appreciated. Keep the videos coming 👍👍👍
Gonna test these for sure. Got Gen4 driver fairway and hybrid with meh results BUT my fitting was a disaster(not the fitters fault). I'm hoping you will be testing the irons as well.
I might have to switch to a Gen 6 driver, I’ve got a Gen 4 that I hit about 340 at 9 degrees but if the Gen 6 is that much better maybe I can push 360-370
Is there any sound/feel comparison to any of the big brands? I am not close to any pxg fitting locations so I need to figure out what the sound is like without actually hitting it😬
I just have to are the weights in the gen-6 that you were fitted for the same as the Gen 5? I'm curious if the Gen 5 was stock and the gen-6 was better waited because of the fitting
@@clubchampionmedia and yet we all take every reading from Quad (and Trackman) as though it was gospel truth. I’ve always though Mt there is a tolerance and that anyone who calls out a club for spinning 100 rpm more or having an extra half smile ball speed is a fool. At that level they are basically the sane
I'll freely admit that playing anything "PXG" has never been high on my list. Parsons just yells in his tv ads and I guess that urks me!! LOL. Plus the word "Extreme" as it relates to golf just reminds me of the Hammer Infomercials from the 90's. Driver looks legit guys but PXG branding doesn't pull me in at all. Too bad the new Wilson won't make the bracket - I love what the W/S shield logo represents to the history of golf.
He tries a bit too hard to reach to the younger population.... but hey.... I respect his service in Vietnam and he is a posterchild for successful American entrepreneurship in his generation. Driver will go from 499$ to 299$ in a month . They push out too much product at one time, nothing pxg seems to even stay in a players bag before they switch to a different brand
Really? Everyone I know who went to PXG irons is still using them. They're as good as anything else out there. Tons of good clubs these days. A lot of it is simply taste.
TXG 2021: PXG doesn't send us anything to test
TXG 2023: PXG flew us down, fit us, and built us a set overnight!

Just bought 0311 Gen5 at a discount. Coming from sim max and it’s night and day better for both speed/distance and consistency. ❤

Matt’s transition is so smooth.
This was the first time, I would look to try these. I have been pretty turned off by their woods. Even the look of these are stunning

Ian not in Galvin Green attire. That’s more shocking then the PXG actually performing.

If you stopped hitting a slice with your current rogue, you would probably add 10-15 yards
Wilson Dynapower, PXG Gen 6 , or Tour edge exotics C723 driver ! Decision to be made.

Man I've been waiting for this !!
Can you post each of your average ballspeed number/distances between this and the tsr2 you did? If forced to choose, do you have a preference?
Can you guys review the Krank formula 11pro/fire? I have it, and love it. They have different face thickness drivers for slower swing speeds as well.

what about the XF driver? Is it higher launch and spin? Did you try the 0211?
From a gapping perspective that’s 40 yds between hybrid and fairway and then driver. How do you close those gaps?

Did you generate any data on the 0311 Gen 6 XF?
PXG next day custom builds…Mikey has some work to do😂😂😂
Smash factor seems a bit low at 1.43/1.44 in the driver. Everything else looks fine, but isn't that a bit low when hit so well as they are? 🤨
It was the same with the TSR2 and TSR3 from the bracket prelim video last week. Maybe, because the face is open a little on all of the shots.
it's the way Quad reads certain clubheads, would guess it over-read the clubhead speed in this case
@@clubchampionmedia Ah - that makes sense 🙂 Thanks for the clarification. I found it weird given the strikes were so pure !

@@clubchampionmedia Then those numbers are even more impressive.
Shout out Cabot
Really high-quality strikes on the driver only getting 1.43 smash. Driver still slow compared to the big boys.
The big difference between the gen 5 and gen 6 testing numbers would have more to do with the gen 6 was fitted, and gen 5 wasn't.
I have Gen 5 clubs, irons and hybrids are great, 3, 5, 7 woods are great, Driver was a bomb, did not like it. Im hoping the Gen 6 driver is better.
Center strike with only 1.43 smash??
just the way Quad reads that particular head, likely it's over-reading the clubhead speed I doubt I was swinging 123mph
