@@thelouisjohnson Yes he talked about that note in his livestream with Charlie Puth, they were talking about the minor iv chord, and that playing the 4th scale degree over that chord was underrated and no one ever plays it. But this part is my favorite part of the song, its also right after the bright II chord, which is a beautiful contrast.

A multi-instrumentalist, with a distinctive/instantly recognisable style. An exerciser in musical flamboyance and pretty chords, one that appeals on a mainstream level, while presenting itself as something slightly cleverer and 'a cut above'. And yet, the music has nothing to beyond the surface level of where we find it. It merely just, exists.
Jacob is unreal. It's like he's been genetically bred and trained from day one to be this amazing musician. On top of this he seems to be this incredibly happy and pleasant person. It's just too much.
Love this man! Sounds cliche but he really is a piece of sunshine. a musical genius with a pure heart and soul!

This song does kinda borrow from the Starry Starry Night (Don McLean) cliché. Even tho the commenter obviously mean that their own sentiment was cliché, the song itself references a sort of cliché way to express this sentiment. Perhaps "a widely if subliminally understood shorthand that can help musically support his communication of a feeling" would be a better way for me to put it than "cliché". That word can have some negative "mailing it in" connotations, and I didn't mean it that way. I meant in in the sense of the phrase I put in quotes. You could also call it "musical subtext". This is meant as a compliment. It's a skill, not a defect.

I've never been one for hyperbole, but I'd nearly say Jacob is some sort of Angel of Music on earth. I've been playing all my life, I've enjoyed music all my life. Jacob is up there with a very rare few, but the wildest part is he is the one who makes me feel emotions when I listen, and I'm a hard, cold, scarred person when it comes to that.
I've listened to this song 100 times, but every rendetion he does is just as amazing the first. Can't wait for him to visit my city!

I experience Jacob's music as pop/rnb music with added complexity. There are familiar sounds and melodies but he finds ways to translate far more complex ideas and thoughts through plaing modified notes and expressing a doubt with a change in sung lyrics. I like it.

This is the custom 5 string guitar Jacob had Taylor make for him, optimized for the funny tuning he likes to use. He always has played down his guitar playing, but really he approaches it very unconventionally to suit his taste. There are guitarists who can do more with their instrument than he can, but he's certainly very effective with what he's going for!
