  • I figured I'd wait till Dakar time to release this, the 19th and final episode of the Race to Dakar 2020: Africa Eco rally Race, Team Races to Places with Lyndon Poskitt Racing.
    In this episode, myself and Matt Sutherland have a discussion about some of the differences between the Dakar Rally and the Africa Eco Race. With 3 successful Dakar Rallies and now a successful finish at the Africa Eco Race, it was time to share my thoughts from actual experience.

    I loved watching you guys race to Dakar. It's great to see racing in the Sahara can still be done, long after "Dakar" had given up on Africa.

    Africa Eco is like the Dakar or old, for the adventure for some, race for others....I hope it continues to be an event for all riders/drivers.

    Thanx for this Clip Lyndon and Matt! Nice hear you talking about the Rallye. I remember myself watching every Stage more than once! 😀👍 Everyone of the Team, Riders and Service, had his own Adventure. But the one you all had together is what counts at the end. Reaching Dakar. Even watching was somehow being a Part of the Team. So my feeling is. Thanx to all of you Guys, letting Guys like me participate in such a way! 👍 MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A YEAR 2021 WHICH BRINGS YOU WHERE YOU WHISH TO BE! 🍀🍀🍀 GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!! 🙏

    In my view, the coverage, production levels, filming, editing on the Races2Places AER2020 was absolutely next level! It's not easy to cover a rally like the AER or Dakar and capture the emotions and experience. It was done brilliantly and if there were more media productions like this, i'm sure it would draw more spectators and viewers which is something motorsports like multi day cross country rally struggle with and probably make sponsors think twice. Epic stuff!

    The Paris Dakar must absolutely start from Paris and finish in Dakar. Racing originated in Africa. The Africa Eco Race approaches the true spirit of the Paris Dakar but should start on December 31st from Piazza del Trocadero. Traditions are important in keeping a legend alive.Thanks Lindon for your always very interesting videos.

    • @lyndonposkitt
      @lyndonposkitt  3 года назад

      True but I think we need to be flexible to allow the spirit to continue because let's face it, I'm sure if Thierry Sabine was still around, his race would also have changed somewhat throughout the years to flex with the times. Times change and both races have their place, which is awesome.

    • @lyndonposkitt
      @lyndonposkitt  3 года назад +1

      Yes, but it's more about the fact that they are very clean, take away everything with them, not like the old Dakar burying tyres in the desert etc. They also give back to the communities they visit and use local workers and supplies for the rally, which is very cool!

    I would lobe to see the Africa Eco Race become the ultimate journeyman/privateer race. Let all the big teams duke it out in Saudi Arabia. Eventually, people will loose interest in the Dakar. The Eco Race is far more relatable and therefore enjoyable.

    Have you got any advice for someone who wants to volunteer as part of a crew. I'd love to experience an African eco race/Dakar and work at the same time.

    • @lyndonposkitt
      @lyndonposkitt  3 года назад +1

      Only advice would be to get as much experience as you can at smaller rallies, make a name for yourself as a good mechanic / helper / human and with all the right friends it would happen. People who do it typically know others and have lots of experience. It costs a lot of money to take someone so it has to be a good fit.

      @@lyndonposkitt thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I will have a look at some british endruro's and maybe the weston supermare beach race. I'm an ex mechanic/auto gearbox technician so I'm quite technically minded. Cheers again for your advice

  • @pedroferrari1

    in terms of cost how much is the difference? Thanks

    • @lyndonposkitt
      @lyndonposkitt  3 года назад +2

      Not much difference really, both complex high end races but I think you could possibly achieve the Africa Race with less funds. Still expect to shell out a lot of cash though, rally racing is not cheap but then again, most of the top challenges in the world are. This still holds true "A CHALLENGE FOR THOSE WHO GO. A DREAM FOR THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND"
