A beautiful and moving performance. So talented. It's so sad that there are so few of his recordings left, what a great career he could've had. Thank you for posting this.
The soloist, Ryan Smith, died of cancer in 2008 at age 31, only a year after winning one of the country's most prestigious opera competitions. One can only imagine where he would have gone if he hadn't be taken away so soon.
Dear Ryan , You helped me become a big brother Fraternally. Miss you even now! God Bless you , your talent, your affect on our brothers, and your eternal life!
It's really sad about Ryan's dying from lymphoma. You can watch one of his triumph - winning the most prestigious opera competition in North America by searching here for "The Audition at the Metropolitan opera". During the year after winning, he made his debut at the Metropolitan opera and was also a member of Young Artist Development Program in Chicago Lyric Opera. What a great career it would've been! So sad.
I loved his voice looking at this back in the day. Rest in Power King!!!!!!!
This is so beautiful. A voice from heaven.
