  • According to The Fun House Factory, this is one of their earlier pilots. The scoring and the payouts were different than the series. And there is no Tiny.

25k in prizes? LOL, I guess they had to scale that down big time if they were going to stay in production

Usually when it comes to pilot episodes they give away a lot more.but yeah my opinion that's a little too much especially for kids

The runners up received a Nintendo Entertainment System(NES) which was a nice consolation prize to walk away with back then. I remember it being such a big item back then.

They should have kept with this format. of course the bonus round it usually in pilot episodes always have a lot more than when it finally goes into production.

Screen shots of this episode were used on the board game.
Also notice that JD stands to the other side of the contestants. And in the Grand Prix they don't have token pouches. If you watch some of the earlier episodes with the familiar format you'll notice that some of the prize tags still have the bar codes on the back of them.

That girl answering "Leah Thompson" on the Back to the Future question deserved the $25 in my opinion. That was the actress who played Marty McFly's mother.

Amazing to see this pilot. I recall watching this show in its original run and it is stunning to see how the actual show couldn't generate anywhere near the level of prizes the original show concept hoped to do. $27,000 for one episode of a kids' show? The actual run was lucky to give away $2000.

There were 2 Nickelodeon shows with a big place for the kids to go through, "Finders Keepers" 1987 and "Legends of the Hidden Temple" 1993.

Good God, those prizes are by far the best I've seen in a children's game show. The Australian version gives you a coloring book and a calculator as a prize.

Nope, that's Brian Cummings- he had previously been the announcer/sidekick for the first season of The All-New Let's Make A Deal, also a Telepictures show (pre-Lorimar). And- to be blunt, it's like they were trying to copy BtB 85's Stunt-era Prize Vault for the Fun House: The announcer describes the rooms, there are Bank Cards- I mean tags, there's the Number Jumb- er the Bang the Button room, and one tag will Break the ban- er, be the Power Prize.

If Nickelodeon should revive Fun House.

    • @alexanderpytko5394
      @alexanderpytko5394 Год назад

Nickelodeon did 2 other shows that were similar to "Fun House." In 1987, they made "Finders Keepers," were 2 teams would find hidden objects in pictures and trash rooms in a big house(set) to find other hidden objects and doing so they received cash and prizes. The winning team would go through the rooms in the house to find clues and received prizes for every room.
In 1993, they made "Legends of The Hidden Temple" which in a way was like an archeological version of "Fun House." It started out with 6 teams, then 4, then 2 and then just 1. The winning team would get to go into the temple and try to retrieve a treasure in just 3 minutes. There was no money given to teams, just prizes. The team would get a prize for getting into the temple, they'd receive another prize if they could grab the treasure before time was up and another prize if they could get the treasure out of the temple in time. The other 5 teams received consolation prizes.
All in all, to me, "Finders Keepers" would be my #1 choice but "Fun House" would be the runner up. "Legends of the Hidden Temple," was good but I hated the idea of the first 4 teams hardly getting to play after coming all that way. To me that's unacceptable. With "FH" and "FK", both teams got play almost the whole show which is what the experience should really be.

    • @bigwillietheb

Devan Safer I agree , cause they only give you 1 minute to do the obsticle course, at least fun house they gave you 2 minutes & I always liked the grand prix race & also you answered questions & did stunts , not like double dare naswer the question or take the physical challenge which they always pererred but then if your challenge didn't succeed the other team won the money

William B While on its adult counterpart College Mad House, each team member had 30 seconds to grab as many tags as they could; getting all 13 would win them a vacation.
But on Family Double Dare, completing the obstacle course in less than a minute would win the family a new car!!! (one of the obstacles on the Fox version would also feature a cash bonus)
