Man, those EPIC batman and western stunt shows, how I miss them! The 90s were when I was there the most as a child with my family. I wish the park was like it used to be; it is so dilapidated and unmaintianed now. That new DC area is an eye soar. The whole park has lost its magic and it is not an experience I currently as a young adult wish to experience. I honestly have no desire to go there anymore and I'm only 2 hours away. Sad.
I rode Spinnaker as a kid and when I went back in later 90's I couldn't find it and thought it might have just been a dream. Thanks for settling this uneasy feeling. Also sad to see the plane ride that I rode as a kid is gone now.
Mr Freeze being added was the best thing to happen to OT. It's by far my favorite coaster in Texas. I love videos like this. Thanks for sharing all this amazing information about the parks history.
Man, the memories... don't mind me, I'm still over here mourning the Spees.... This one and the next one (80s - the one in which I am reserving my mourning for LaSalle's...) were the ones I was looking forward to the most, as I didn't start going regularly until 1983 or so. Great stuff, thanks!
2:50 - It's cool to see the giant birthday cake at the front entrance. I only got to go a couple of times in 1990, but that's something I remember vividly.
The Right Stuff was my jam back in the day. And I remember when I was finally tall enough to ride Flashback. My dad and I rode it multiple times that day, and my neck was so sore. But it was worth it.
Worked there from 91-94, some great memories working at Air Racer and Texas Giant. So to sad the Air Racer was removed, would have loved to have taken my son on my old ride.
great video and series miss the old cave ride Yosemite Sam ride not the same. Texas Giant great ride Mr Freeze great ride still have two decades to get to before you get my memories as a kid I started going way back in the 70's and then a lot in the 80's as a teenager.RIP The Cave and Spinnaker great memories on both rides.
Loved the spinnaker, was heartbroken when it was moved until I found it @ Fiesta Texas. Now if I could only find the UltraTwister from Astroworld I would be in Heaven.
I started coming to the park at the beginning of the last decade and looking at it now, it’s definitely gone down hill. I really hope one day this park is brought back to life like it was in the 90’s😔
I was 6 when I first visited Six Flags in 1999. Mr. Freeze and Batman were just built. I was too short to ride them, but I remember the lines being VERY long on the weekends.
I was In the 4th grade when Mr Freeze came out and I remember telling the class about it and how Mr Freeze is inside and able to move his head as if he is watching people board
1999 was thigh point of Over Texas and my childhood! It really felt like an adventure and with great prestige. The park was also filled with a lot of pride!
I miss the stunt shows so badly. Thanks for the nostalgia! Also... no wonder they put goggles on the Mr. Freeze animatronic. The initial version without them is way weird 😂😂😂
Brings back a lot of good memories as a teenager, I had a season pass and would sometimes go by myself and I have to meet somebody else there by themselves and just hang out with them all day !
This is back when Six flags was an experience. It had amazing shows, food and you felt like it was a different special world. Now it's more of an let me hurry up and ride some rides with my kids. Nothing to do but rides. Food costs are ridiculous and not really worth it. Park looks like an unmanicured Lott that someone took rides and stuck them in the middle. Looney toon characters are now scarce and far in between .
Some of my earliest memories as a kid are from Six Flags in the mid-late 90s. Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park specifically. Man I loved this video.
Oh man, the 90's! I was born in August of 1989, so the 90's were my childhood and it was awesome. My family went to Six Flags so much be it Spring Break Out, Holiday in the Park, or just a regular visit. I used to adore both the Batman Stunt show (both the Penguin and Joker versions) and the motion theatre (The Right Stuff and DinoIsland were both magical for me). Of course, the line wait was horrible at the motion theatre but always worth it. For years, The Texas Giant was like a legend that I was too scared to ride as a kid but finally I asked Dad to take me on it and it was scary yet so worth it. I just love Six Flags Over Texas!
Wow you brought back lots of memories. I lived at sixflags in the 90s as a teen. What year did they have the BMX skateboard show that one spring break year?🤔
Any kid growing up in the mid to late 90s in DFW just got massive nostalgia from that opening commercial. Wow! It’s been 25 years but I remembered every word to that song😂
My favourite is the construction of boomtown depot and the debut of boomtown crossing this crossing features a custom built wig wag crossing gate signal And a conventional crossing gate signal with teardrop bell Facing next to each other they were originally fitted with vintage A-frame wooden wishbone type gates but as of 2021 they have been replaced by single bar fiberglass gates because the wood in the A-frames was beginning to deteriorate which is very sad now shock wave crossing the roundhouse crossing and the overflow entrance crossing are the last three crossings on the Six flags and Texas Railroad that still have wooden A-frame wishbone type gates
Amazing video!! I didn’t even know roaring rapids got renamed la salle’s river rapids and it’s queue was in France!! Why did they change it?! It would’ve been really nice to have to this day!
Brings back great memories, I used to go all the time by myself and I would usually find someone else there by their self and we would just hang out all day, so young and carefree
I was stationed in Texas in the early 90's. Our family made several trips there, especially after I discovered the military rec services had discount tickets and two day tickets were a bargain. We could stay at a nearby motel and have a good time in the park. One motel was close enough to walk there, get a hand stamp for reentry, go to motel for lunch, and return for the evening. Remember the OK Corral show, the animal show, the magic show, and the Red Garter revue. Lots of good times there. I'm sorry to here that it is not what it once was.
I agree with Mr. Freeze being the best addition. Texas Giant was my favorite at the time but Freeze has definitely taken that spot considering how Giant aged over time and the New Texas Giant changing the overall feel of it.
Ah yes I miss the good old days at Six Flags Over Texas with so much entertainment options and the rides. I liked the park from 1990-1999 and from 2000-2009. Over Texas today is just not the same anymore.
The speaker box off of Skeletor‘s castle…. Was perfect for a 12-year-old to say. I am Arania … the black widow bride, step into my 13 rooms of doom….. ah ha ha ha ha ha ha …. Standing in line anywhere during fright nights or the latter fright Fest…. You were bound to hear that on continuous loop…. Memorize it, love it, imitate it !
I believe that the park may be gradually attempting to restore some of its former glory, but I regret to say that I do not believe it will ever be able to recapture the magic of the late 1980s through the 1990s. Personally, I feel that this was the park's most successful period. Perhaps my opinion is influenced by the fact that I was born in 1982 and grew up in the area. The flood of memories transported me back in time. My nine-year-old son watched the videos from the 1980s and 1990s with me. My family visits the park quite frequently now, and he remarked, "Daddy, I wish I had been born back then." The fact that a nine-year-old can perceive the magic from a video speaks volumes. I am unsure of what it will take, but the live shows were fantastic, and the park had a distinct ambiance.
Ommmmg yes Runaway Mountain, Dive Bomber and opening of Mr Freeze akes me back to high school dates omg. You're right that was were Spinnaker was. So many comments...so many memories lol
The Speelunkers cave being replaced with the Yosemite Sam ride was my first adolescent taste of Six Flags disappointment. :/ The second, and biggest, was my beloved Spinnaker being replaced with a roller coaster that didn't go fast, didn't go high, and was advertised as being "in the dark" but light leaks all over the building meant that I could see plenty of the less-than-thrilling track coming.
I remember the aquatic theater and dolphin show, I believe in 1990 I got chosen to have the dolphins pull me around the pool in an inflatable boat and then I got to feed them. Needless to say it was awesome and I'll always remember that.. so many memories. Now Yosemite Sam's Gold River adventure is boarded up and signs gone.
The funny thing is, I never went to the shows. I simply went for the amusement rides, coasters, etc. The Texas Giant is my favorite coaster at this park to this day. I like the revamp of that as well. I have not visited in eleven years. It might be time to return, although I would have to look. I do not think they have any new attractions. Maybe I am wrong.
Climbing Ticket Prices, Constant changing theme park Identity was the start of Six Flags decline. A mix of Warner Brothers, Looney Toon while retaining it's original theme just doesn't play well. Makes me sad.
You’re crazy. Batman & Mr. Freeze are 2 of the best rides you can still ride anywhere. It’s not like normal loops because of it hanging from the track instead of on top of it. I could ride those damn rides all day.
The cliffhanger was and will always be the best ride sfot ever had
My childhood just came flooding back to me! Great video!
Man, those EPIC batman and western stunt shows, how I miss them! The 90s were when I was there the most as a child with my family. Wall street took over, it's parasitic.

Wait, what happened to Gold River Adventure? They can't take that out!

It only looks that way now because the original head was supposedly stolen by someone who was working at the park. 😱
Amusement Source Now that is an awesome piece of park folklore! Definitely fun to think that it’s still out there somewhere.
Brings back a lot of good memories as a teenager, I had a season pass and would sometimes go by myself and I have to meet somebody else there by themselves and just hang out with them all day !

I worked at the Steak & Ale across the street from Flashback. Good times
Man I never had a chance to eat there and I live in DFW smh. I missed out
The good times...
Man I sure miss them
Some of my earliest memories as a kid are from Six Flags in the mid-late 90s. Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park specifically. Man I loved this video.
Great video! The 90's is the decade I'm most familiar with. Thanks for the highlights!

I actually can’t find exact info on that one unfortunately. Thank you for watching!

Time Warner sure were the glory days…
I agree with Mr. Freeze being the best addition. Texas Giant was my favorite at the time but Freeze has definitely taken that spot considering how Giant aged over time and the New Texas Giant changing the overall feel of it.
Oh and I love this series!!
Yep the Giant was way too rough before they redid it and like you said it’s just not the same now not to mention there’s the Titan.
Mr Freeze is my favorite as well!
Ah yes I miss the good old days at Six Flags Over Texas with so much entertainment options and the rides. I liked the park from 1990-1999 and from 2000-2009. Over Texas today is just not the same anymore.
Hang in there! Shifts are starting to happen.
Here we go, another "back in my day" spiel. Can you just be happy with change and acknowledge that older isn't always better?
The speaker box off of Skeletor‘s castle…. Was perfect for a 12-year-old to say. I am Arania … the black widow bride, step into my 13 rooms of doom….. ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ….

I’ve really enjoyed these decades in review! 😃 Would you be able to do them for other parks too??? 😳😳
Thanks for watching! We will get through the decades for SFOT and SFFT and see where we can go from there.
I remember the opening of TTG. It was a complete beast. The shows were always so good....the random concerts
Ommmmg yes Runaway Mountain, Dive Bomber and opening of Mr Freeze akes me back to high school dates omg. You're right that was were Spinnaker was. So many comments...so many memories lol

I used to love the Spinnaker ride. Also RIP to the LaSalle's rapids ride and those that perished on it that was my favorite
We took a tour of Gold River Adventure (no cameras were allowed) and the new park president said they are in the works of getting the ride fixed up!
The funny thing is, I never went to the shows. I simply went for the amusement rides, coasters, etc. The Texas Giant is my favorite coaster at this park to this day. The comedy western stunt show in 95 and the Batman laser stunt show on the oil derrick in 96 we're pretty memorable.
Six Flags was magic back then!
This and the early 2000s were my eras. Omg RIP Steak and Ale.
Great video
RIP to the chutes.
Btw, what travelling musical acts would've come through in the 90s? I remember Brittany Spears being one.
Thanks for the video but I always thought the q line for mr. Freeze was an add-on
Nope. It has always been there as-is.
I remember my dad‘s company worked on the Batman stunt show.
How was that Air Race ride??
Spring Break Out was an event. I think I went and Mach 1 was a Spongebob 3D experience...that may have been early 2000s
I liked the Mr. Freeze and Batman Coaster but I didn't like them taking out the Great Six Flags Air Racers
Call me crazy, but I miss driving right beside Flashback
Never understood why they got rid of Casa Magnetica.
It has returned in a seasonal capacity.
Man... what happened? The 90's were freeking bad ass!
Things change quickly at the Flags!
Went there on 7/19/99.
Yes Warner Bros theme park chain was Six Flags (and that is why Six Flags has the American theme park rights to the Warner Bros movies
I guess Hayley Williams was in a Six Flags commercial back then
Last time I went was in ‘93 before I went in the Army.Ex ended up ruining it as usual.
Rip shows 😭
The saddest part of all, honestly.
whoa
Climbing Ticket Prices, Constant changing theme park Identity was the start of Six Flags decline. A mix of Warner Brothers, Looney Toon while retaining it's original theme just doesn't play well. Makes me sad.
But she didn’t voice Alfalfa
anyone call that number??
Lol I was scared of batman when I went this 2020 lol now I will try it.....NOT
You’re crazy. Batman & Mr. Freeze are 2 of the best rides you can still ride anywhere. It’s not like normal loops because of it hanging from the track instead of on top of it. I could ride those damn rides all day.
