My Gen2 Glock 17 was born on Mar 92, and I'm the orignal owner. It has 10k+ rounds thru it, and aside from recoil guide rod assemblies being routinely replaced it is all STOCK. It's never once malfunctioned, and no part has needed replacement. The 2 NFML magazines have never even been disassembled, and function perfectly to this day.
I have had a Gen 2 17 since 1991. I've put at least 10,000 rounds of my reloads and a few thousand factory through it with never a malfunction attributable to the gun - a couple of squibs loads and that is about it. An incredible pistol. Mine is all original except I changed out the recoil spring and just this week put some Talon rubber grips on it. You really just can't beat this pistol. Nice video coverage, thanks!
found mine at a local gun shop here in Florida. got it for 300 out the door with a 20% sale that they were having. it looks like it's been used pretty heavily but for the price I couldn't walk away from it. it will make a good project gun. I plan on replacing the barrel and recoil spring as soon as I get what I ordered in the mail.
I have an early gen 2 17 all original because I am the only owner. Maybe 300 hundred rounds shot. Perfect condition original box and all pamphlets. Non captive spring, I traded a Taurus 9 mm for this Glock back in 87 or 88, don’t remember exact date.
I found an early generation 3 Glock 19 never fired before mint condition in tupperware box for just freaking $400 at the pawn shop. I couldn't believe my eyes and it was an instant Buy.
Just purchased my first firearm, I work at a pawn shop and I got a gen2 glock 17 made in July of 1991, with an original glock box $285 out of pocket and 100store credit for Christmas I feel like i got a once in a lifetime deal Only upset is it came with a gen 3 mag not the original mag but imm still happy
I just found my gen2 2 pin post Frisbee with both factory mags and two others for 425 love it in great condition just filthy hasn't been cleaned since the 90s
Hearing about people legally buying glocks for 500$ and complaining about paying more than 700$ for em when theres people on the black market buying glocks for 1000$+ makes me laugh 😂
Man I paid $479 for my second generation in mint condition with an original laser max guide rod already installed and working other than that it was all original I put night sights on it but that’s it it’s completely stock otherwise and whoever owned it must have taken excellent care of it because it looks brand new I will never ever sell it and mine is one of the early Glock 21 second generation so it has what I call the ugly frame with polymer flash and even a garage in the rear from where they cracked The frame off of the mold I love the way it looks it has a rugged look
Have g17 gen 2. Got it back in the 90's. Sold my Sigma and got the Glock. Gun has the longer frame rails. My carry gun and trail gun for many years and it looks the part.
Glock 21 second generation with only 100 rounds through it for me and I love it because it’s the first of its kind and I really never saw them until I saw this one not a single flaw these pistols had a finish that was easy to scratch so if you plan on keeping it new don’t mess with it or keep it in a nylon holster If you are going to carry it
I would love to get a 2.5 Glock 17 or 19 if they made them and I am always on the lookout for a mint condition Glock second generation pistol it is my favorite generation
I have a gen 2 Glock 23 in the Tupperware container with the manuals and cleaning kit. Bought it new in 1994. Gun has had under 1,000 rounds through it. Are you telling me that it's appreciating in value?
I think in general they are appreciating. But the market fluctuates. And I'm not sure about the .40 cal Glocks. Those were so popular with LE departments, and there are still big batches of police trade-ins that hit the market, and that always drives prices down.
I just traded my 9mm S&W Shield for a gen 2, 2 pin. It's my first glock and was wondering if modern guide rods fit all gens of the g17, as mine has developed a crack in it.
I found a Glock 17 Gen 2 for $278. It looks in great shape I’m just thinking there is something wrong with it at my local pawnshop? What’s the recall I heard about and did I miss out on a great deal ??
I think I have a end of gen 1 beginning of gen 2 hybrid? for the pebbling does not go all the way around like the gen 2 on the grip, but has pebbling on the trigger guard, and it has the uncaptured spring! It has two letters on the ID number of MT and it is 558 as far as following numbers? So it does not completely follow either description of either of your Gen 1 or Gen 2 identifications?
Maybe I was unclear does not have the complete pebbling all the way around like the Gen 1, but has the pebbling on the trigger cover like the Gen 1, and also the uncaptured spring like the Gen 1.
If you are going to shoot it I would definitely only put factory ammo through that guy that’s all I use in my second generation lighter loads to keep it nice for longer when I die my son can have it that was our pistols that I will never sell once I acquire them at tax time this year I plan to get a few more of that generation
There is one at my lgs for $399 Gen 2 G17, its just the pistol and one mag though no tupperware, what do you think? Really want a Gen 2 but they a hard to find or really expensive, I know of a Gen 1 "pencil barrel" on gunbroker through another lgs that is gonna go for like $1500 or more.
I'm still waiting for you to find and do a review on the porcelain version from Germany that can sneek past metal detectors and cost more than an airport police chief makes in a month.
I have this exact pistol. Dad bought it for me around ‘90? Shot it for the first time in years last night. Probably no more than 200rds through it total. Zero wear on it. Have the box somewhere. Is it possible to mount a red dot on it? I see no reason to get rid of it.
You could, but I wouldn't do anything permanent to it (like sending it away to have it cut), given that these are becoming collectable, especially in the condition you speak. I think the best option is a red-dot mount that uses the rear sight dovetail. Go on amazon and do a search for 'outer impact red dot adapter/mount for Glock Pistol'. You could also look for an aftermarket slide that has an RMR cut, but I'm not sure if you'll find any for a Gen2.
I know this video is 2 years old, but you forgot to mention the finger grooves (most desirable trait about the gen 2) too bad they (glock) did not make a accessory rail no finger groove model that is not compact. (g17 with accessory rail and no finger grooves without aftermarket.)
I purchased a G17L gen2 with the single trigger pin today from someone who's dad recently passed . He had 6 NIB Glocks, I was too late in enquiring about the G17 gen4, but he informed me that he had a G17L w/o the Glock box that he would let go for $400.00. I had never heard of the 17L before and quickly googled it. Needless to say I bought my first pistol on the spot .
I found this upload looking for a rail mount kit for my gen 2 Glock 17. I bought a gen 2 model 17 brand new back in the mid-90s. Nice gun, but I don't shoot much. Probably only has 500-750 rounds through it. My tupperware box looks similar, but I don't recall if it has the trigger bit added to it. Another thing, mine only came with 1 magazine and the gun came with a little card stating something like, "As of March of 199(x), new Glocks ship with only 1 magazine." Anyway, nice comparison between the Glocks. :thumbs up: /subscribed
If anyone is interested in a rail kit for the G17 I found a great one! It's made by Recover Tactical and it's a very solid, slick setup. It was backordered from March 2016 and finally showed up around June 15. I ordered it when it was in preproduction, so it wasn't a big surprise it took a so long. I Love, love love it! Btw, I have no affiliation with them whatsoever.
james cash Here's a direct link to the Recover Tactical rail. From all of my research, this was one of the few options, the other of which sucked. I highly recommend this rail! www.recovertactical.com/collections/glock-compatible-accessories/products/rc12-rail-and-clip-for-the-glock-17-gen-1-2 If you watch the video within the link, the belt clip you see didn't make it into production. You get the rail. An excellent one at that.
+andy thomas I'm not sure. I know there's a lot of them out there, and I see police turn-ins of Gen2 G22s at a pretty cheap price, so as far as financially, I would say no, not at this time. However value is in the eye of the beholder. I have many firearms that I consider collectable, even though at this time they are not monetarily valuable. To me it's something I want in my collection.
Just picked up a mint Gen2 in Tupperware. All manuals. Great gun!!!
Awesome. yeah, it's a great gun. I love mine.

Do you still have that Gen 2 Glock 17?
I have had a Gen 2 17 since 1991. Ross Henderson Thanks for the feedback. Some people say the Gen2 G17 is the best Glock ever made, before or after. I know it's rock solid.
Just bought one and I didn't know how lucky I got. It's in perfect condition. In the Tupperware with cleaning kit. Austrian made as well.
Same here. Found a never fired before G19 Gen 3 with a Tupperware case. It's a KEEPER.
found mine at a local gun shop here in Florida. got it for 300 out the door with a 20% sale that they were having. it looks like it's been used pretty heavily but for the price I couldn't walk away from it. it will make a good project gun. Cool video!
I have a Gen 2 Glock 19 made in 1993

Have g17 gen 2. Got it back in the 90's. Sold my Sigma and got the Glock. Gun has the longer frame rails. My carry gun and trail gun for many years and it looks the part.
my gen 1 glock 17 was made april 1985.all origonal parts. tupperwear box,2 mags and has Austrian proof marks
Call your local pawn shops you may find a gem, most guys that work there may not know the gems that they have.. i can vouch :)
That's how I found mine I have never fired before early gen 3 Glock 19 and Tupperware filed for just $400 at a pawn shop
Glock 21 second generation with only 100 rounds through it for me and I love it because it’s the first of its kind and I really never saw them until I saw this one not a single flaw these pistols had a finish that was easy to scratch so if you plan on keeping it new don’t mess with it or keep it in a nylon holster If you are going to carry it
I would also like a generation one Glock 17 it’s one of my goals and if I can I would like the desert storm version
I had the opportunity to shoot a gen 1 17 several times. It's awesome
Those mags are worth $100 on GunBroker. Some states like Connecticut only allow the pre-ban mags. Sell them. Get a new one for $22
great review
Great gun. I have an itch to get one of these. Just a solid shooter to have in the collection.
Isn't it the 'Oozi Nine Millomeetah'?
Dodge It's really the Phased Plasma Rifle in 40 Watt Range.
Glock is the hummer of pistols. Blocky and "ugly" to some. But rugged built.
And I'm one of those that love Glocks AND Hummers!
I would love to get a 2.5 Glock 17 or 19 if they made them and I am always on the lookout for a mint condition Glock second generation pistol it is my favorite generation
Great gun bro...There real reliable !!
captive, captive....not captured! lol! great vid!
My dream Glock 17 gen 2
Bought my Gen2 in 1991. Have my two mags and loader. Only about 200rnds. Can’t find my box though.
Thanks for the video! did enjoy
Molto bella la gen2 un vero cult!!!
Ma dove si comprare un pistole in Italia. Un Italo Americano in Florida. Terra Della LIBERTA.

Yeah gen 2 17s are great. I want a gen 1 so effin bad just cuz 'Merica haha.
I would definitely upgrade all the parts if you're going to shoot and carry. Send it to Glock and they'll do it no charge to you.
I want to keep it all original. I'm not going to carry it, and probably won't shoot it that much.
Ah...got it.
How about de 17L gen 2? Just bought one for only 50 euros thats about 59USD. Can’t find anything about it on the internet .
I would like one of each caliber second generation with boxes whether I have to buy them or not

Beef Stroganoff I’m watching this in 2019, how excited were you to see the unveiling of Gen 5? It’s exactly what you wanted!

How do they both shhot? Are they smooth?
so are the glock 22 gen2 collectable?

i found a police trade in for 360 is that worth it ?
It depends on the condition, but in general, considering they are getting harder to find, I would say yes.
+762x51n8o ok cool i can put you on to the site i found it but then ill lose it lol jk
Yes
Did you ever get a gen 1
Yes I did. And now a Gen5, so still have all the Gens. Check out my book -- do a search for "Glock Reference Guide" from Gun Digest.
those early Glocks are ugly ;)

Not collectible unless Austrian proof marks. Nice gun though
