This was excellent! I have shingles right now, and the only question I had that she didn't ask is, should you still get the vaccine after you've had shingles.... and then the doctor volunteers that, having already had shingles, he's been vaccinated. So there you go, all questions answered. Great video.

This was very helpful. I currently have shingles. It’s the worst pain ever. I went to a cardiologist before getting the shingles because the chest pain was so bad. Two days later my husband took me to the emergency room because the chest pains were so bad. Everything was normal so far as cardio at both the Drs. and at the ER. Two days later I started to think I had the beginning of shingles because my Mom had them. It had just started so the Dr put me on antiviral drugs. I’m trying everything I can to relieve this pain. No luck yet.

My rash has only been very faint but its feels like the worst sunburn being put under a boiling hot shower constantly! And the nerve pain feels like I've pinched a nerve on top of that every now and then it feels like I'm being punched in the ribs. I cant wait to be rid of it! I've been given Codeine but it only just takes the edge off, hopefully the anti virals will help! Thanks again for a great video

It started at a point under my left shoulder blade. I have had this pain before but it was just located there. But the pain continued and went around into the breasts area. Finally on day 5 as the pains increased, I thought I was having a heart attack. So I went to the ER, put through all the preliminary tests for heart attack. Doctor came and wanted to really look over my upper torso and he found a red spot on my back and one on my breasts. Told I was having shingles. Now the area of the back where I had the first pains is covered with a rash in a strip form and runs around to cover my left breast. The pain is continuous. If I had to rate the pain on a 1-10 scale, I would say they go from 5-9 now. Now as I enter into week 3 of the rash and 4 weeks of pain, I would do or take any opoid to get relief.

I am 61y.o. and have had this for 3 weeks now. Severe pain in my left SI joint and in my left piriformis muscle was first sign, but I thought it was a repetition of torn ligaments in the, then, absence of any other symptoms. Went to osteopath for a manipulation but no improvement like in the past. Pain then spread down my left leg and about a week later blisters first appeared to the left of the base of my spine at the SI joint and over two days spread down my left leg and also across the top of my left foot. The itching and burning has been bad but the muscle spasming pain and random lightning pain is the most debilitating I have ever had in my life. LYCRA (pregabalin), even at 150mg per day, is not stopping the leg pain..... it's just making me feel vague. This is by far the worst illness I have ever had and I wish I had known about the vaccine before contracting it.

I currently have Shingles on my face. It has attacked my ear and started as an ear ache. I am older. I had the single dose shot years ago. I’m at the end of week 3 and have been on a nerve pain med for 4 days. This morning the pain woke me about 3. I put a cold compress on and went back to sleep. Then a few minutes to 5 it woke me again. I put a fresh cold compress on and the pain was so severe. It was the worst of tge 3 weeks and felt like all the nerve endings were firing at one target in my cheek
This has interfered with my work and i have low energy. I’m eating high lysine foods, no caffeine, lots of supplements, eating soft foods as chewing hurts my teeth
Get the shots. You don’t want to go through this

My beautiful kind selfless mother passed away 6 weeks ago and so it’s been a very emotional time. 7 days ago I developed singles on my trunk from one side of the front above my belly button to the back. It’s been one week and the mild rash started day 1 then by day 2 there were more. By day 3 they became blisters but very little pain. Over the next two days they’ve become fluid filled. Now into day 7 and very little pain if at all even though the fluid filled blisters are still there. No itching. I’m hoping this is as bad as it gets.

A great interview. It answers lots of questions I had. I got shingles after having Zostavaz 9 years ago and agreed one should get Shingrix as it is a better vaccine than the old one.

My daughter, 25 never had chicken pox but had Only the Vaccine as a child. She is now suffering on the eyelid and she has sores in the scalp and bumps on the side of forehead. First signs of the parts of the face are head sores and red eye then gets worse if you don’t catch it in time, you must go get oral virals and cream. I need to know what you can take for pain besides Tylenol, that does not really work well.

This bout of shingles started out with what I thought was kidney stone's...The pain has been unbearable. My local ER said I had backed up bowels..I told them multiple symptoms, but they could care less..Ended up going to Clarion ER thinking my bowel was about to burst with severe pain...They said shingles,I have the back and side rash...It's almost 4 weeks now and I've spent near every night crying and feeling like a wounded animal..Inhumaine treatment for pain...or should I say none, except Valtrex...I would not wish this on anyone...I pray for a decent night's sleep without severe pain..Laying down makes it worse, much worse...

I'm 40 and got it on my arm from my shoulder to my thumb where my thumb was where all the pain was. I had a cluster of blistering rashes on 4 parts of my arm; shoulder, bicep, firearm, and in between my knuckles. None of which was itchy or burning on the rashes themselves. Pain in my thumb was excruciating with no rashes on it; throbbing, burning, electric shock feeling, and numbing. I've had chickenpox when I was little. I feel like this reactivated because I got my flu shot then a week later I got my COVID booster. Then I got a slight cold. And since it was during the holidays, I was drinking a lot with friends and family. I assume my immune system was compromised as it was on overdrive. After about 48 hours of taking the antiviral meds, it stopped spreading and pain started to finally subside.

Thank you ..very well presented and informative.I’ve had shingles now for three weeks and am still suffering dreadful pain .Give me childbirth any day! My GP suggested the shingles may have been triggered by the flu vaccine which I had in the same arm three days previous to the shingles pain starting.I’m also wondering if I may have been unknowingly more vulnerable as I had Covid three months ago after being double Pfizer vaccinated although I had mild symptoms of a cold.So looking forward to being pain free!
