Greetings from a sunny and warm Brussels. Fantastic video.Found this just when I needed it the most. I have recently got my sequence all wrong and now need to regroup.
I play golf for many years but have never heard this key movement so clearly explained. In addition Giles gives me great drills as a practical basis to incorporate it into my swing. Really outstanding. I am not following any other golf lessons on RUclips anymore!
I have been playing golf for years, this instruction has to be far and away the best I have ever watched. My irons are going further and the same with my driver. I have taken lessons from instructors In California that have never shared the right bend , that has now lower my score. If Giles is ever in the San Francisco Bay Area I would love to meet him. I have passed on your lessons to friends.
Great drills, recently learned about this from another video and trying to implement it so feels natural, but you explain brilliantly with added drills to assist. Many thanks.
Good stuff, subscribed. Exactly what I'm working on! Struggled with fat shots contact and rotating the hips basically since I started playing golf. This added to what I've learned and the drills I'm using to get my swing where I want it
Great instruction video Giles. Silly question though. It's tough for me to focus on several swing things so I'm trying to prioritize them. One of your videos suggests to focus on the lead shoulder down and around. Another is to maintain the "V" throughout the swing. This one is to transition and put pressure into the lead foot. Another that I use is to turn back and put the lead shoulder under the chin and hold my back toward the target in transition. How many of these feels/thoughts can be effectively implemented by an amateur? Do you just start with one until it's engrained in your muscle memory? Appreciate your teaching.
Good video and very helpful- particularly instructive was keeping chest back along with hands as one starts the down swing through separation of lower body from upper body and shallowing club by rotating trail elbow/arm clockwise and lead arm counter clockwise. Super important to know how and the towel drill was particularly instructive in this context in creating separation and shallowing
After I saw this video amd I tried it on the driving range the result were very good. But sometimes it top ball. Why did it happen and what causes it ?
Is there a way or method to build this extension move into the backswing but make it a less contrived move just tacked on to the end of the back swing? This puts me into a nice top of the backswing position, but makes the backswing feel like two very disjointed moves and kills the tempo of the whole swing. Help!
Awesome tips Brother 🔥! Quick question. Do you recommend practising these drills in this order? Is there a particular drill that I should start with first? Also, how long should each of these drills be practiced? Thanks, J.
Thank you Johnny! If you’ve never performed any of these then yes start in order and try them. If some drills resonate more then focus on them. Progress through to when they start to become comfortable 👍🏻
the stick in the belt loops is a good one and i use it alot, i'm gonna try the towel drill too. when i can get the left hip move going and have my right hand driving behind the handle it all works real well but i can't always keep it going. i think i pull up open the face and hit a block. do you have a video for that? thnx.
Watching swings in slow motion, it does not appear they're lower body starts to downswing before the club finishes the back swing. They're lower body does shift forward but it appears to be when the club reaches the top of the backswing. Just search Tiger Woods perfect iron swing. And you could really see what I'm talking about in the x8 slow motion
It’s hard to see but it does happen. When you look at all the biomechanical data it shows they roughly start to shift around left arm parallel in backswing
@@Gilesgillgolf yeah I know it's hard to see the pressure shift it's something that I've been working on for a long time and still can't do it correctly
@@Gilesgillgolf no I don't believe so it's more that my upper body goes forward with my hips I have a hard time shifting forward and keeping my head behind the ball at impact
Giles when I do this I feel like I’m very much on my lead leg. Is that the proper feel? I was striping the ball but when I left the range my lead league definitely felt sore. Not injured and it feels fine now but then I immediately left it felt sore
Should feel slightly more on the lead leg (60/40) but if your knee is sore then it could be collapsing in and across your body more. Also you might be over doing the move and collapsing onto the left leg
@@Gilesgillgolf I definitely think I was trying to over exaggerate it because I wanted to feel it. I think next time I won’t need to “hit the lead foot gas pedal” as hard. What also is great about this is I wasn’t thinking about my downswing at all the pressure moving from the ball of my lead foot to my lead heel basically did my downswing for me
Some players do (in fact I do that) but you have to be very good at moving dynamically with your pressure. I always preach there is no one way to to it so it’s crucial you understand what works best for you
one more thing, you're a good teacher.
Thank you!
Lost my swing completely and restarting again this video had come at a great time considering I’ve lost all my flight on the ball.
Glad I could help! Hope this gets you back on track?

Would love to see something about putting as well 🤜
@@bertramvalentin3388 will add it to the list 👍🏻

Good drills Giles.
Thank you!
Great video, makes so much sense, will definitely be trying tomorrow, thx so much, would love to get you to look at my swing
Glad I could help! I do all lessons on the skillest app so if you click the link in the description you can check it out

You find the root cause issue & try & fix that first
Great lesson on setting the club. Is it the same for woods and driver. Thanks
Yes, absolutely
Excellent post 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you mate!
Great drill tips

The towel drill is one of my favourite drills for that exact reason! Glad you liked the video
Is this concept the same with driver?
Enjoyable and informative video!
Hi Milorad, yes it’s the same concept with driver. Great to hear you’re enjoying the content!

Thank you, Giles.
@@miloradjelic7521 no problem!
the step drill is like a batter in base ball where they stride into the pitch.
Exactly! Very similar movement
After I saw this video amd I tried it on the driving range the result were very good.
But sometimes it top ball.
Why did it happen and what causes it ?
Can be different reasons. Ball position too far back, not enough side bend in the downswing, not releasing the club down to the ground, etc
Is there a way or method to build this extension move into the backswing but make it a less contrived move just tacked on to the end of the back swing? It should happen gradually in one fluid motion

to start the downswing move do you key on the left hip area actually pulling down and around or is it result of some other body move?
Do I key on the left hip?

Is there a correlation with the harder you push in + the faster you rotate then the further you’ll hit it?
Yes 100%! There definitely is a direct correlation between the too

Why not feel like you never sway off it that bad going back . Why I’ve always kinda favored a stack and tilt feeling
