- The Strade Bianche, with its white gravel roads and spectacular Italian scenery, has become one of the race season epics. Pidcock and Vollering return to defend their titles but will they be pipped to the post? Dan and Si run through the race route and review the teams and riders in contention for this year's podium. Let's hope there's no horsing around on the route this year!

God I miss GCN+ all over again on weekends like this.

I can't even watch it this weekend. Our local broadcaster idiots don't have the rights.
I' signed up for Discovery+ a couple of weeks ago on a month by month basis. €6.99 in Ireland. So far so good. Coverage of all the big races so far on Eurosport with essentially the same commentary teams. Breakaway was there too for UAE and Opening Weekend

Can't believe there's no GCN+. It was without a doubt my favourite and most used app the last few years.
Bloody Yanks and their business first models. It's always about money, profits and what suits the good old U, S of A. We Europeans can be damned.
Apparently to offer streaming services in just one place, but I frankly don't effing care about the other content offered by WBD for my subscription.
It was great having a dedicated cycling service that covered absolutely every discipline. And on replay. Also all the other outstanding videos on the great races, the climbs, the teams, and the riders. And last but not least, the forum to discuss cycling with other obsessives.
Now cycling will be fighting against other marquee events from other sports and smaller or more niche events will disappear. We know cycling suffers as it is.
So I'll have to use Eurosport for live races, I just hope that the GCN crew continue to make your videos but for release on RUclips and the main website. Also, will the older videos be available anywhere, I hadn't got through them all?

And what’s even more infuriating is that having switched on Eurosport at the start of the ladies programme , (10.30am UK time ) we’re told by Orla that both the women’s and men’s races are already underway, but so far all we get is studio chat , not a glimpse of the races yet. This is piss poor.
Really missing my GCN+ subscription. Instead I have to settle for Max and Peacock 😔

I am (and I always will) a fierce supporter of all the channels. The work every single one of you do is nothing short of perfect.
But I have to get this off my chest and say please, bring GCN+ back. I know this is something totally out of you reach, you said it in various occasions, but you have no idea how much it's missed. Not been able to watch races anymore (there is no other option where I live) it's just sucks. 😢😢😢

I agree with the new race season upon us. Searching for a way to watch races has become hard. I miss my cycling-specific app that had bike races, mechanic tips, cycling news, and cycling movies all in one place.

I agree with you, changing so much the route as to be seen if it's effective, putting so much distance from both the last gravel section to the finish line and Santa Maria climb will affect riders (in)action. Likewise, think of the Milano-Sanremo with Poggio climb 60 km from Sanremo

Pog, Pidcock in the top 10.
Pogi had 3 KOM's on a training ride from his place in Monaco, roads he's done a lot, over 7,000 riders have done those sections, KOM's, just sayin it looks like he's ready;)
So excited to see this race, it's one of my all time favourie. I will right there in the field watching from the side of the road and racing the Sundays Granfondo, finger crossed for the weather!

I want about 3 different breaks to happen, and the eventual winner to start from the final break and then go solo off the front of the break, just as a show of complete strength to surprise them all... (it won't happen, but would be an absolute display of speed and endurance)

Have always been a bit snobby about SB becoming a monument. But, I think it needs to be to get all of the big dogs involved. Imagine Pog v Pid v MVP v WVA v other great riders.
Yeah, that's the one thing it's lacked on the men's side for the past couple of years, all the big guns on the start list.
The classic wet strade bianche edition wasn't actual the 2010 epic giro stage over the same roads. Cadel Evans in a mud soaked world Champs jersey with both hands in the air made an awesome image.

Hard to look past Pogi but I would love to see Mohorič win and I wonder why Movistar are not bringing Lazkano. On the women‘s side I‘m going for Moolman. She won a gravel event in Spain recently so she seems to have prepared for this.

Even though it is controversial. I prefer the women’s race being shorter as a viewer. I find there are more shots/risks being taken, matches being burned more quickly and makes for a more exciting experience as a viewer.
I know that without a doubt they can ride the longer distance.

They want to be called a monument. Two things needed for that--increase the distance which they have done. Supply great prize money and attract more of the top players which they still need to do!

Why can’t we watch the whole race from the very start on TV? I didn’t realise when the programme started on Eurosport here in the UK, that both the women’s and the men’s races have already started. So far I’ve had to watch 40 mins of studio chat, meanwhile the races are already underway and I’ve not had a glimpse yet.

In the USA, Strade is on Flobikes but that's $150/year or $25/month (assuming monthly is an option). Race is on MAX but that's only live ... no replay apparently. Flobikes burned me once already.

Bit of dampness on the white stuff will make it less sketchy but more filthy basically.
What about Kristen Faulkner? She has proven that she is fit this year, and I’m sure she and her team will be very motivated to get a good result after what happened last year.

Strade Bianche 2024: How to watch
In Italy the Strade Bianche will be available on Rai channels. In the UK and most of Europe, Eurosport and Discovery+ will broadcast the race, while it will be on FloBikes in the United States and Canada. Strade Bianche will be broadcast on SBS in Australia.

@@ytmatsenlevi9827Depends on where you are I'd guess. In NA, Flobikes have the rights so I'd doubt it would be on YT. At $30/month in Canada, I'll find another way.
GCN + was the way.. Discovery or Eurosport but at a 10€ a month it’s a lot more than GCN + was 😢
Did Flo Bikes confirm the Strade race today was available in the US market? It was not and a disappointment for subscribers like myself in that viewing area.

Better than Milan-San Remo, probably. La Primavera is kind of boredom for hours, and then the attacks start after 250 KM, and only the last 40 KM are exciting. With the other Monuments, other things can happen. The sections of cobbles in Paris-Roubaix, cobbled climbs of the Ronde, climbs of LBL and Il Lombardia all help animate those raves, but not really more or less than Strade Bianche. I prefer the nasty cobbles of Paris-Roubaix, over the rest, but take your pick. If we get good racing, I am happy.

Strade bianche was good because it was not extreme long, so all racers could go all the way . And if riders can go all the way you get spectacle !
In my opinion they maded strade bianchi much to long . Lots of riders now will ride on economy what will temper the spectacle a bit I'm affraid ....
The original strade bianche was so special , unique and good ! ! There was no need to make it longer and harder than it was ....

Just looked it up. He also did it in 2019, and got 12th. Not sure why I though it was his debut, I think I read it somewhere recently. Should have fact checked! Dan

A message for the big wigs at Eurosport: I'm going to be watching on SBS in Australia from Canada thanks to my vpn. As there's still no option in Canada. (Flobike is not an option.) I hope Eurosport decision makers realize that with every race I watch for free with my vpn means my chances of subscribing to D+, if and when cycling is offered in Canada, are diminished.

Tell me to foxtrot oscar but minimalize or move the GCN logo to sleeves /elsewhere on the tees and let the graphic sell it. It is an awesome collection but not feeling it as a 50yr old.... Less is more for us older boys...

Why has the men’s race been lengthened but not the women’s? This inequality must stop.
Women's sport just isn't as popular, get used to that fact. The cost of putting it on however in terms of policing is the same. If you want to make up that financial difference out of your own pocket so women can have a longer race, go ahead.
Financial feasibility is a huge issue. As I’ve commented numerous times, sponsorship and coverage is based on viewership, and women’s cycling doesn’t have the numbers to make it financially feasible to do “make it equal”. Why force a loss? Makes no sense.
