My favorite is a drink made with fresh squeezed pineapple juice and papaya juice. All of these types of drinks are great.

🌴Hey Amigos! 🌴 For me, the clear winners for both price and taste were the Typical Breakfast at Soda Sanchez, and the Casado (from Tiquicia, but would be great from most places!) Of all these dishes which would you be likely to go for?
PS. sorry about the sound at some parts, after spending hours and $$ I couldn't bring myself do it all again 😢

Hey Emma, great video. When we were down in April the wife and I went to El Avion, which we normally do, and I actually found and took a photo of your sticker on the exterior of the plane, note: go put a new one on as someone had actually torn part of it off and put their own sticker on! Keep up the great videos and information, we have a place in Bejuco and are getting ready to retire in CR. Next time down we will let you know and maybe we can grab lunch.

Awesome content; wish I would have saw this video earlier haha! I believe that local dishes in Costa Rica are cheaper compared to touristy restaurants that have Americanized dishes so I try to avoid those kind of places. It's no doubt that food in Costa Rica can add up, especially when visiting touristy places.
I remember when coming to Costa Rica the first time, sodas are one of the best and cheapest eateries for budget travelers. Casados remind me of a bento box (Japanese dish) because it's a dish that contains an assortment of different foods all in one place (except that a casado is cheaper than a bento box lol).
Sorry you had audio issues in some parts of the video haha! Hopefully the next video will go smooth sailing :) Regardless, good content and hope to visit those places the next time I come back to Costa Rica!
    Timestamp comments:
2:04 From this shot, looks pretty good! I guess I can kind of see how it could be "Americanized" but it looks pretty awesome
2:23 - 2:30 Hand-made tortillas! Yaaas, good sign of authenticity.
3:40 - 4:53 Audio issues in this timestamp range; aside from that though, chicken looks
good! I like how it comes in a little bag; probably something good after a long strenuous hike or something
7:21 Looks like I don't see the USD price on this part but I did look it up myself and it's around $5.53 USD (as of 7/1/23) which is pretty good
7:25 - 7:40 I do remember watching your video about how to make this at home. It
looks delicious and I hope to try and make it myself one day
9:07 - 9:45 Oooh ceviche baby! Love it; I haven't tried Costa Rica's version but it
does indeed look good. I can definitely see this as something that can fill you up
even though the bowl looks small
10:48 - 10:55 It's interesting to see Asian cuisine made the Latin way; I would also agree with you that it's probably not something I would go for as a tourist, but yes it is an option for cheaper eats.
11:17 - 11:38 Interesting, Cantonese fried rice Tico style; it seems that it looks darker compared to the original Cantonese recipe. Probably they added a lot of soy sauce and
sugar which is why you're tasting a lot of salt and sweetness.
11:50 - 14:00 Audio issues here (probably the winds in the background is one reason)
16:42 - 17:38 Ayyyy that's what's up!!! That looks very filling. Pretty good price with a great
assortment of food. Taking away the beer keeps within budget of course.
17:50 Yeah it sounds familiar! And I think I've either went here or passed by that place when I was in Quepos.
19:35 - 19:40 It's pretty easy for most restaurants to miss a bit of spice or touch on their food, but I guess considering the price, there's a reason for that haha.

Thanks so much Tony! Glad you enjoyed - I bet you really could have used this info on your trip hehe!
It's so true, Casados are kind of like a different take on bento boxes, a little bit of a variety of foods - yum...
The hand made tortillas were hands down the best part of making this video, that breakfast was bomb! You definitely have to try when you come back.
The audio issues were heartbreaking when I came home hahahaha, and you wouldn't believe me if I told you how many times I did "1,2,3 testing" HAHA
I'm glad you liked the video! Thanks as always for your amazing support and love :)

WOW Emma all that food at all those Quepos restaurants looks so yummy 😋 😋 and at great prices. For those for don`t know how much 5000 colonas are you should post the cost in dollars. You must of been stuffed up to the gills after all that food , Cheers 🥂 🥂

I think it would have been a lot more helpful if you used dollars to convert the cost instead of the local currency so people who are interested in going will have an idea of the cost.
