Skin getting less wrinkly and more puffy with age doesn't make sense to me. Bane's bony jaw and sparse teeth make him look older in the Clone Wars. This Cad Bane looks less human, more generic alien. He has way more personality in animation. So at the end it doesn't really matter if his looks can be justified, what matters is which one better represents the character's personality. Love that Dave brought him back either way.
A big thing for me that nobody seems to be talking about is how static his performance was. He literally barely moves his head, at all. And when compared to his standoff with hunter in the Bad Batch, there is movement in every line of dialogue, tilting his head, fiddling with his toothpick, his facial expression changes frequently. The live action felt very bland by comparison which only highlights these physical changes more, I think.
His face is a little too round and short, it looks more like a “human” shaped face then it would that of an alien. They definitely could’ve used some cgi to make it slightly longer. But your right his toothpick would’ve made the whole character come to life.
Idk I kinda feel like it would've undersold him a little bit in this particular scene if he had it. I feel like the lack of toothpick shows he's not playing around and it makes him more intimidating.
@@ThomeTeque I think most people should be able to critically think about how live action will be slightly different looking. It’s not even an opinion it’s a fact that clone was stylized
Why do people keep saying this? Just because it's not as stylized doesn't mean it had to look goofy. I'm not the most discerning star wars fan but the amount of people making excuses is annoying me. like I understand people are allowed to have different opinions, but i feel like fanboys are ready to make any excuse because the series has been so good so far.
I think people are over complicating this. I think it's just a matter of opinion. I see as many people saying it should have used CGI as people saying it was a good translation. To some it'll always look goofy and to some it'll always look great
Remember when people complained endlessly how the Clone Wars style made live-action characters look weird? Animation and live-action are two different things, these characters will always look weird transferring from one to the other. The people complaining about this are just looking for reasons to be upset.
I'd argue they're just pointing out the obvious. Despite the lighting difference and the argument from age, he looks too pale and his facial structure too different. It's clearly him, but bleached and perhaps with a bit of Botox treatment on his long nasal bridge.
Well, it has nothing to do with transfering from Clone Wars to live action because the original design came out in 1977 and is indeed accurate to the clone wars animation. Theres a clear difference between the species in live action and clone wars vs the newer one in book of boba fett. The height of the mouth is the only thing that bothers me.
I know, right? He's legit been the scariest thing I've seen in SWU since anikin went all BBQ. It's the thinness, and those teeth. The demon eyes make him look kinda cute when his mouth is shut though
Love that this video hinges on the idea that the audience doesn't understand how colors look different in different lighting If you take a cornflower blue skinned guy and put him in a dark room, he's simply not going to look ultramarine
I think he looks great, we’re just so used to the clone wars style of animation. The same goes when people first see dooku or Qui-Gon in the clone wars. They have crazy long faces.
@@revengeofthesith. he is an elder by duro standarts aside from that not all of them has to look the same otherwise might aswell have the same face lol.

To be honest, cad bane in live action is precisely how I would’ve imagined him to look like. I think saturation and different proportions are things that need to be considered when translating a character into live action. While the reimagined look from cinematic captures is neat, it think it feels too cartoonish for a live action translation. To me, it is quite obvious that at character needs to feel slightly different in live action, and the frightening persona of cad bane in The Book of Boba Fett accomplishes just that.
Fully agree for the most part, but we’ve seen duros in live action before, and while the widening of the face makes sense given the style of the clone wars, the extremely high positioning of the mouth is distinctly incongruous.
@@CharmedReally7 that’s not much of an argument, because the New Hope costumes went out of their way to make something inhuman. This cad bane has a very human face shape and human proportions, and ends up looking uncanny. This isn’t an upgrade, it’s a rushed bit of fan service
@@CharmedReally7 Those two in ANH are the right design, or will you say that GL is wrong and Disney right about the design of a species he created himself?
I knew that as soon as Bane revealed himself in the episode that some liberties had to be made for his appearance, and although it was weird to look at, I understood why he looks the way he does now. Taking a character in live action is way easier to translate into a cartoon, but the opposite can be be impossible to do perfectly.
The problem with cad isn't the colour of his skin, its the skeletal structure. The LA variation is extremely different than all the Duros we've ever seen in live action, animation or video games. The simple change is making his chin slightly smaller and his mouth lower on his face. This fixes 90% of the issue.
Really he should be compared to the Duros in ANH, the skins match but now the mouths don't match because although both live action Duros are practical, the mouths were static on the ANH masks. Which can be achieved with post effects or animatronics. He's wide because everyone was narrower in TCW. Simple art decision. Could even argue the blues were washed out in the scene.
@@TheLizardWizard17 Yea having the same idea as someone means I just copied it, I posted this comment when I only got through like a minute of the video
My interpretation of Cad Bane's skin is that he is on Tatooine, and that his skin is lighter because he's dehydrated. I have no idea if it holds up, but logically it would make sense that as a bounty hunter, he often goes long periods of time not getting the proper nutrition. Perhaps the Duros' skin gets lighter when they do not receive proper nutrition. Alternatively, it could be a fast-acting melanin type of thing. Maybe Cad Bane simply had a bunch of Pheomelanin put into his skin cells*, one way or another. Maybe it's a reaction that only Duros have to carbonite, because it's quite likely that Cad Bane has been in Carbonite before being a bounty hunter who goes to such extreme lengths to get the job done.
I think people see him and feel that something is off, and since the difference in skin tone is the first thing they notice, they associate that uneasiness with the skin tone. However, I think it is more the location of the mouth that is throwing people off. I also think that is the main reason why his face feels so much more rounded despite the dimensions not being that great a difference. Lower the position of his mouth and it feels a lot more natural and gives him a much more elongated look to his head. Edit: I think if they had lowered his mouth I doubt that as many people would have noticed or cared about the skin tone.
I absolutely agree! I get the paler skin, but the mouth is just not right for a Duros in genral (as you can even see in A New Hope). The location of the mouth has nothing to do with aging, it’s just weird. If you want him to look really old throw some wrinkles in there. So yeah I also think if they fix the position of the mouth he could look absolutely perfect as an old Cad Bane and people would be satisfied.
I think you're right here. Not just the mouth though, his nose bridge thing (?) is much thinner and less rounded in the Clone Wars. It ends up fitting the breather better. I get that in animation you're able to accentuate features better in relation to the character, but it really does translate poorly in live action.
@@Topher7527 But they've been doing that in the D+ series a lot. Thinner Gammorians (not in BoBF, but in the Mandolorian), thinner, more human like Transdoshians, etc.
yes, its just that. in the cartoon he was perfectly done, should have just copied that, the smirks, the face expressions are just not there in book of Boba
Quite honestly, I think they nailed his design. He looks intimidating as fuck. And I did not watch clone wars or anything featuring this character. I saw his design before of course, but when I saw him in live action, it did not shock me
I think what bothered me the most was the wrinkles above his nose and all over his forhead, makes him look mad all the time, which wasn't how he looked in the clone wars.
I definitely see it as a nitpick. Everything in the animated shows is down to stylization and exaggeration. The important thing is that he looks and sounds like Cad Bane which he definitely does. Plus, I think going that dark a shade of blue would wash out details and mess with the overall intended color grading in a live action setting. A slightly lighter shade is just more practical in that sense. EVERYONE was able to identify his silhouette off in the distance as he approached Cobb Vanth in the episode. The design is fine.
The real thing is that they wanted to do it practical, which means that his mouth can’t be lower down like it technically should. Also, his voice is kind of different. It sounds more American now
I like how this video is supposed to convince me that live action Bane doesn't look weird, yet it includes a fan-made rework that already looks better than the original
It’s weird to me that this is even an issue. Of course a cartoon is going to be an exaggerated depiction that gets un-exaggerated for a live action depiction that needs to look more realistic.
@@slayking2378 I think the colour of his skin is maybe the only very minor issue I have. Would be nice to see him in a darker room next ep to see how it looks there. Also his teeth are slightly too large but it adds to his creepy look. He's just got old man fangs😂
People also got angry, legitimately angry that Ahsokas Lekku were too short despite it still looking great and being a choice made to facilitate action scenes. People will always say fix it with CGI but that's rarely a good idea on a budget.
@@slayking2378 I think they tried to adapt him to match other Duros we’ve seen in live action. The ones in A New Hope have the same skin color as live action Bane.
the only issue i ever had was the mouth position, which even when taking into account the artstyle of the clone wars is quite a bit higher than any other duro. But the color never bothered me as i just assumed he got paler with age.
The mouth can't be that low because there's a freaking human with human proportions under the mask. 🙄 To make the face longer, they would have needed to put the eyes higher but the actor wouldn't have been able to see anymore. The second option is to use effects to make the mouth move, which would have cost more money and needed more time. You all should stop complaining, he looks great how he is.
@@shizukagozen777 you might have a point... if it wasnt DISNEY and STAR WARS! @@shizukagozen777 People made edits in the same day of the episodes release fixing the mouth position. If they wanted to, they could have made that change
@@TheSexiestGoblin You know that Disney is a bit "cheap", they have a budget and they don't want to spend more money than what they planned to spend just to make everything absolutely perfect. This is a very good makeup, and it looks natural and I think everyone should stop complaining about his design especially when Disney fcked up Ahsoka's lekku and montrals. You can complain about that, that would be more warranted than complaining about Cad Bane...
We will have to see how Cad looks indoors in future episodes. Now that you've pointed it out, it does look like the adjusted Cad is too dark for being out in the suns. I can buy the theory too that the species pails as it grows older. The big one for me is his mouth placement. You had me convinced with the "clone wars is stylized" argument, on why Cad's chin is so small in the cartoons. No human's mouth sits that low on their face, so of course it's going to look different when played in live action. But then you showed a picture of the Duros in the Mos Eisley cantina and those masks did in fact have a low sitting mouth on a thin chin. So now live action Cad Bane doesn't even look like a member of his own species. Maybe they can retcon him as a half breed lol. It might be fun to see some one Photoshop the Duros from ANH and make them look more like live action Cad. Also, while animated Cad had pointed teeth, I feel live action Cad shows too much teeth when he talks and he looks too sinister for it. And his voice sounded a bit off to me, which is odd since Corey Burton (the voice actor for Cad)'s name appeared in the credits (he may have even physically acted the part in BOBF, which would be cool, bit I'm not sure, I just noticed his name in the credits). But to me these are all petty details, I loved seeing Cad make his live action debut and can't wait to see more.
I agree totally. Never never anyone else mentions the teeth. I think Burton's voice may not have been modified as much for your last point, I thought the same thing.
Maybe he's a different race of Duros? We don't know too much about them but it's possible that we're just looking at a different ethnic group where the mouths are higher.
@@shonenbag6478 Kinda like the Niktos, there's the brown ones that are the more common ones, and green ones, who are a separate sub species or something.
There's no real "controversy" anyway. A few people don't like the design. A majority are fine with it. There isn't even a lot of complaining coming from the few.
You did a great job explaining the skin tone, but I never had a problem with the skin tone. He doesn’t have the right teeth for Cad Bane. His two front teeth should be flat, the full spiky teeth makes him less menacing somehow. The other problem is that his hat is too small. In a perfect world his head would be a little taller, but the brim needs to be wider. These are both my nit picks but I feel the teeth is a bigger problem.
I thought it was weird that he was so pale but I also forgot that he would have been so old so I'm okay with the change. I am not convinced that it's because of lighting though
I mean the lighting is very important to set the tone of a scene since tatoone has 3 suns and the sand reflects some of the light back it does make the scene more realistic, like I do somewhat like a more darker color to his skin but if it weren't for the lighting it won't set the tone and he'd be sticking out like a thumb
The only thing I would change about Cad's live action design is I would move the mouth down just a little bit. Aside from that I don't have a problem with him
We also need to remember that humans on Earth grow up and age differently from humans living in space. That difference comes from exposure to cosmic radiation
I just have to roll my eyes whenever someone first comes to live action from animation and people complain they look different. Clone Wars was heavily stylized, all the human characters look vastly different in animation compared to live action. Kenobi would look like he had hair and a beard made from a solid plastic piece bolted to his head if his live action appearance matched his animated one. 😅
He looks great to me despite the changes. You can't have every asthetic perfectly translated from media to media. It's bound to change like Monkey Phone, each artist, director and series has an aged and different style from moment to moment. I try to be as accepting to a craft that's competently executed, and I certainly feel they pulled it off here.
I think ur right. Cad would obviously look different in live action. Though I do like the adjusted versions over all shape. The mouth being lower and more exaggerated and his eyes being more squinted makes him feel more in line with the original feeling the character gives off. Menacing, clever and a hint of cheeky.
Never really had a problem with it. Knowing a live-action depiction of a character won't ever be completely accurate. I'm just psyched were still seeing bits before and after the clone wars.
I think it makes perfect sense for Cad's appearance to be different. Just look at Kenobi between episode 3 and 4, the time difference between the Bad Batch and BOBF is even longer than that.
@@RonW4684 I don’t feel this is a valid excuse for the issue. It’s clear the eyes and forehead on Bane in BBF is CGI, they could’ve elongated the design to put the mouth much lower on the overall characters head and still had practical effects mixed with CGI
I'm not sure that the top of the face is all CGI, @@desklamp6708, but I agree that the bottom half should have been. I get the desire to do it all practically and/or in-camera, as has been the mantra for these shows, but that's not always the best choice.
sometimes people take animated humanoids as literal. art style plays a huge role in animated shows and movies when in fact, if placed in live action, those characters are what those characters are intended to look like. for example: Phase 1 and phase 2 clone armor as seen in film are what they are supposed to look like as apposed to what is depicted in TCW. the artist just made TCW clones look that way based on their art style.
The problem with this is that Cad is one of the only characters in TCW who's design ISN'T exaggerated from the original live action reference. Just look at a duros from anh. Tcw just slapped a cowboy hat on it. This redesign is clearly meant to be more aggressive and menacing.
Why everyone thinks about his age? It's clear he doesn't look (fully) like Duros. Like Ahsoka's makeup, it's incorrect because it made for mobility and gestures... you don't need to canonize cheaply made things...
He looks fine!!! I love it! I got chills when I heard the voice. Certain features wont work in real live action that works for full animation. Im very appreciative of the work that has been done
For me, the issue of the look isn't just the colour: roundness of the face, high placement and narrowness of the mouth, the shark-like teeth, the way he snarled, those were the things that seemed most off to me compared to the other version (this is even compared to other Duros we've seen). The adjusted version fixed that as well. And of course we're going to be a bit more picky about this than with really live action characters like Asokah: There's only so much you can do when you need a live actor in makup is playing the character, but a CGI construct like Cad Bane can translate MUCH more directly into a live-action version while still looking much more like their old selves. Up-res and change some of the body proportions, add details, etc. but keep the overall look and feel.
Maybe he looks off, but comparing CW Dooku to live action Dooku is enough for me to really brush off differences. Plus, his next live action appearance after BOBF might change his design a little bit to be more blue and thin
There is no way he doesn't not look weird considering he doesn't look like his own species at all. He's a Duros and duros look more like the edit than the original.
Personally, I never had an issue with the skin colour but I think I'd have preferred that the shape of his mouth and chin and maybe his teeth were more like the Clone Wars/Bad Batch versions of Cad Bane. As he is now, I feel like without his iconic wardrobe and breathing tubes, he'd look like a random Duros whereas in animation he had more distinctive features on his face. But, after watching the episode a couple of times, I'm used to him now and I fully accept that it's Cad Bane and I'm excited!
Honestly I just think he looks amazing in live action, I don't care if his skin is 100% accurate to the clone wars since again, he's 70 in the BOBF and around 40 in the clone wars so if he looked the exact same it would make no sense. You wouldn't want Obi Wan in ep 4 looking the exact same as he did in ep 3, it would make no sense.
The issue is less about how “accurate” the live action Cad Bane is, and much more about how good of a Cad Bane he is. Corey Burton did a stellar job. The voice(though it would have been nice to hear that distinct electronic quality, it was really good nonetheless), the ruthlessness of his demeanor, and his stature all work to make a great Cad Bane.
I liked the fact that he was a lighter shade of blue. It makes the world feel more immersive, it feels like he’s aging and losing color. His face being more round is weird because your skull doesn’t get smaller with age but his skin color was fine
I believe 3 things play the biggest roles. - 1. The age. This is an in canon arguement that makes sense. - 2. The art style. Cad, like Ahsoka was made for a cartoon with visually dynamic ranges to allow for distinctive attributes to be highlighted and showcased. - 3. Live action adaption makes many changes for both practicality and visual experience.
To the whiners out there: Make your own original stories and then YOU can control 100% what all your characters look like - and then listen to people tell you how you got it wrong. LOL!
My main issue is how different his face looks in terms of size. It's understandable, but still, look at the Duros in ANH. That's kinda what I had hoped on seeing. Although, as I said before, I do think it is understandable and I am still happy to finally see him in live action.
@@barkasz6066 we have duros in battlefront 2 who walk and talk and look almost identical to ANH. theres no excuse, the creators just didnt look up reference images of the duros species. I say their just lazy
Star Wars fans are literally the only people on earth that would criticize the guy that is responsible for creating the actual character and delivering him to a live action show.
I never watched the animated series, so I didn't know Cad Bane. But I think he looks sick af, now that I see the animated version, they did the exact right thing in the live action series. This whole "controversy" also feels a bit like it's a proxy argument for the weird obsession of Americans over skin color. I hope he won't die in the next episode, now that I am a fan of him lol
It’s just fucking nitpickers who forget not one single character from the cartoons looks exactly like their live action version. Like bruh go edit everyone else if it bothers you so much
Agreed it's very small details. As a literal star wars fanboy of the clone wars and movies (legends, basically what if,and canon) i barely even noticed his head shape I seen the skin but his head was looking accurate. If anything pikes from cw who have green skin and glowing eyes look different completely.
I feel he should’ve looked like the designs for Duros in ANH, and all the Star Wars games (most recently Star Wars Battlefront). This design isn’t BAD on its own, it’s just inappropriate in my opinion given the fact that this is not accurate to the designs we’ve seen thus far regardless of Clone Wars.
The ones in a new hope are static masks that can't do anything. To have that look and have him talk would basically require a full animatronic to be built for a character who will probably die this week. That or make him a full CGI character which comes with it's own difficulties. It's possible if we get him in other live action appearances they will tweak the look but this looks great as is.
You're absolutely right! Most people forget that the Clone Wars animation were so different from the original char. Like Obi or Dooku with his long face. This real live Cad is indeed the true Cad Bane.
Translating Cad Bane to a live-action performance wouldn't have been that difficult, though there would've been complications with the mouth area compared to the ANH Duros to be sure. In the end, however, mouth and skin color aside, we all still know who it is under the awesome cowboy coat and hat.
the thing about explaining away the lighter shade of blue with the Tatooine sun is that his face is _still in shadow,_ meaning the skin tone we see here would be roughly the same colour in an evenly saturated environment. Thus, his skin is still too light a shade of blue.
I think he looks great! If we compare Cad to other live action Duros, I think we got the best of what we've seen while giving Cad his own flair! I think it's age and Cad being switched into live action that made him look a bit different than we might remember but they still did an amazing job!
If you look at the Duros that appear in ANH you can see that their mouths are very low on their face, same with Cad Bane in TCW. In The Book of Boba Fett his mouth is noticeably too high on his face. This is the only problem I have with his appearance.
Your first reason was the lighting and how every scene with him in The Clone Wars had him in a dimlit interior room. Then you immediately contradict yourself by showing him in a scene during a sunset so what tf was the point of that?
God it’s like we can never just enjoy getting these characters in live action. We do we have to crap on all the hard work and time put into bring the character to life
Comparing his saturation to the sky, I'm convinced. He is significantly more blue than the sky. If that relationship were maintained to the kind of deep blue sky, we might say on say, Endor, then I think he would be as dark as he is in the animation.
As an editor, I totally agree with the lighting and the saturation theory you put out there. The scene with the Cobb/Cad shootout is most definitely editing stylistically, not accurately.
I think the main thing isn’t that he looks wrong, it’s that he SOUNDS wrong. It may be the same voice actor, but it’s definitely a different voice. It’s deeper and not as nasally or southern.
Dude... it looks like someone's budget cosplay from a backwater Star Wars CON. No character, no personality. Someone made the costume to function in a bare-minimum level and that's it. It can be explained by saturation, lightning and necessary changes in the live-action, but can't they just drop this shit and just make the Clone Wars or Bad Batch version? You know, the one that looks cool? This Bane is just pathetic and looks like a marmot slipped head-in into a jar of blueberry jam.
3:28 The fact that we have seen several Duros in Live Action before Bane should hammer home, that this is what they actually look ... and the animated version ist just that... an exaggeration due to the medium.
If those are practical effects they're using, the mask not only has to fit a human head, but be able to deliver a performance in. Thus why Ashoka doesn't have tentacles going down to her hips.
I don't mind Cad's face not being the same. Count Dooku certainly wasn't this super angular and long face, and the clones look nothing like Temuera Morrison. That's because they're all caricatures. The ONLY thing bothering me was how small his hat was
Can you imagine someone who never saw the live action prequels. They see Alec Guinness in A New Hope and bitch about how he doesn’t look like he did in Clone Wars 🤣
I wonder how many people have considered that Bane looks like this because the Duros are literally in A New Hope at the Cantina and they look way more like this than the Clone Wars version. Thanks for sharing that photo from the movie. Wish you would have addressed it when the photo came up.
He's old, therefore he's got a bit more weight and his skin colour has changed, happens in real life. But I do like fans edited versions of Bane much better.
What immediately stood out to me when seeing live action cad was his shorter face with mouth higher up, and the smaller hat. Never really had an issue with the skin color.
I always sort of felt like the cgi shows were like visualized rumors and folktales, almost exaggerations that were taken and then rationalized back into tales and events that lined up with their characters and timelines better. Like a crew of historians interviewing troopers, slavers, bounty hunters, and everyone in between to try and piece together the crazy timeline and people of the universe. I like to imagine a group of like 5 rebels risking life and limb to find out about the great jedi Master Luke and general Leia and finding stories about Anakin, about Obi Wan, about Ahsoka, and eventually Rex and some of their fellow Rebels like "that kid Ezra", or stuff like that.
I think the main thing that will make cad bane much more accepted is if his relaxed and non-agressive facial expressions and animations are there. People took a liking to his character in large part due his personality. He had a calm air of confidence about him and also aloofness to those he didn't see as threats. He also had quick wit and sharp instincts. He's a complex character that will work for any side that will benefit him more. It will be interesting to see if there is some sort of grudge He holds against boba for an incident during his time working with vader.
but he was 40 or something in the clone wars, now hes an old angry man. He doesnt have enough time left to deal with nonesense. I'd be sour too if i were him.
Never really bothered me how Cad Bane didn’t exactly match his Clone Wars appearance when you compare the other characters from live action to cartoon like Yoda, Anakin, and Dooku.
I thought it was obvious that Clone Wars characters have different style compared to real life, yet here we are, we need to explain why 1 Cad isn't exactly the same as 2 Cad

The only issue I had with the live action version of Cad Bane was the freaking nightmares I got from him lmao

Its the mouth placement and skin color tbh

The problem with cad isn't the colour of his skin, its the skeletal structure. The LA variation is extremely different than all the Duros we've ever seen in live action, animation or video games.
The simple change is making his chin slightly smaller and his mouth lower on his face. This fixes 90% of the issue.
The goofy side profile shot looks wrong, but they fix that one day
I disagree for the show style he looks perfect.
Really he should be compared to the Duros in ANH, the skins match but now the mouths don't match because although both live action Duros are practical, the mouths were static on the ANH masks. Which can be achieved with post effects or animatronics.
He's wide because everyone was narrower in TCW. Simple art decision.

Not to mention Duros are a somewhat aquatic species, so in a hot and arid climate, his skin would be lighter if he hasn't had enough water.
@@Iliadic plus he’s really old
I think people see him and feel that something is off, and since the difference in skin tone is the first thing they notice, they associate that uneasiness with the skin tone.
Lower mouth would definitely help. I also don't remember seeing his teeth so much, but that might also be an aging thing
I think you're right here. Not just the mouth though, his nose bridge thing (?) is much thinner and less rounded in the Clone Wars. It ends up fitting the breather better. I get that in animation you're able to accentuate features better in relation to the character, but it really does translate poorly in live action.
Agreed. Most of the Duros we've seen had a lower mouth. Seeing Bane with a higher mouth just throws off the look.

I saw his design before of course, but when I saw him in live action, it did not shock me
Yeah his design looks perfect for the mandolorin style. If anything what we should be complaining is the pikes designs.
A good Comparison to both versions is Dooku, he looks fine in Clone wars but if you try and move that version to live action...

Well said.
How dare the real living person heavily dressed in makeup not have his jaw surgically lowered for cartoonish accuracy
It’s weird to me that this is even an issue. Of course a cartoon is going to be an exaggerated depiction that gets un-exaggerated for a live action depiction that needs to look more realistic.
It’s not really an issue it’s more of why does his face look different. I think he should be more blue forsure but yea nitpicking

I completely agree here. It was always how high the mouth is, for me.
The mouth can't be that low because there's a freaking human with human proportions under the mask. 🙄 To make the face longer, they would have needed to put the eyes higher but the actor wouldn't have been able to see anymore. You know that Disney is a bit "cheap", they have a budget and they don't want to spend more money than what they planned to spend just to make everything absolutely perfect. This is a very good makeup, and it looks natural and I think everyone should stop complaining about his design especially when Disney fcked up Ahsoka's lekku and montrals. You can complain about that, that would be more warranted than complaining about Cad Bane...
I attributed Cad's skin color to be age when I saw it. He looks like an old fighter, like Clint Eastwood (which I saw someone else mention).
nah he looks more like Lee van Cleef than he does clint eastwood.
I think Burton's voice may not have been modified as much for your last point, I thought the same thing.
species can be incosistent, book of boba feet trandoshans look veyr different than mando ones and is it doesn matter much
The teeth remind me of that dude from Mordor, in Return of the King.
Maybe he's a different race of Duros? We don't know too much about them but it's possible that we're just looking at a different ethnic group where the mouths are higher.

There's no real "controversy" anyway. A few people don't like the design. A majority are fine with it. There isn't even a lot of complaining coming from the few.
Agreed
You did a great job explaining the skin tone, but I never had a problem with the skin tone. He doesn’t have the right teeth for Cad Bane. His two front teeth should be flat, the full spiky teeth makes him less menacing somehow. The other problem is that his hat is too small. In a perfect world his head would be a little taller, but the brim needs to be wider. These are both my nit picks but I feel the teeth is a bigger problem.
I thought it was weird that he was so pale but I also forgot that he would have been so old so I'm okay with the change. I am not convinced that it's because of lighting though
Bruh the blaster fire proves it’s the lighting
I mean the lighting is very important to set the tone of a scene since tatoone has 3 suns and the sand reflects some of the light back it does make the scene more realistic, like I do somewhat like a more darker color to his skin but if it weren't for the lighting it won't set the tone and he'd be sticking out like a thumb
The live action one is super chilling and the clone wars version looks more playful so well done with his live action recreation.
I like star wars
Thats one heck of a controversial take!

The only thing I would change about Cad's live action design is I would move the mouth down just a little bit. Aside from that I don't have a problem with him
The haters are annoying, be thankful they brought such a beloved character to live action. He looks great.
Star Wars fans wondering why the live-action adaptation isn’t exactly the same as a stylized cartoon
I wonder how a live-action Assajj Ventress would look like
We also need to remember that humans on Earth grow up and age differently from humans living in space.
The fact he’s so old and keeps going is amazing. That tough ol bounty Hunter won’t quit.
Thank you there's a good time between the to people dont seem to understand.
Yeah almost 20 years of aging!!!
Sure, but where is his suave personality? They didnt just change his looks..
Cade: “I’d be careful where I stick my nose if I were you..”

The biggest issue is the face shape/proportions. It doesn't match the canon live action Duros appearance from Episode IV you included in this video.
totally correct, and those masks did not have working mouths. It is a practical effect compromise.
@@RonW4684 I don’t feel this is a valid excuse for the issue. It’s clear the eyes and forehead on Bane in BBF is CGI, they could’ve elongated the design to put the mouth much lower on the overall characters head and still had practical effects mixed with CGI

and dooku has a beard sharper than maul's hornes and yet no one is complaining about that.
Cad is also over 70 years old... Of course he'd lose a little color in his face. That's perfectly normal
sometimes people take animated humanoids as literal. art style plays a huge role in animated shows and movies when in fact, if placed in live action, those characters are what those characters are intended to look like. for example: Phase 1 and phase 2 clone armor as seen in film are what they are supposed to look like as apposed to what is depicted in TCW. the artist just made TCW clones look that way based on their art style.
I think he'll die this week but we might get him in Andor.
This argument would make sense, but we’ve SEEN Duros in live action before, and Cad Bane in TBOBF doesn’t look like them.
LOL!

As a literal star wars fanboy of the clone wars and movies (legends, basically what if,and canon) i barely even noticed his head shape I seen the skin but his head was looking accurate. If anything pikes from cw who have green skin and glowing eyes look different completely.
Convinced me that he is still the same color: no
Convinced me that there's a logical explanation as to why he looks like it: yes
I love his live action look! It's more menacing and creepy.
My only complaint is his lack of toothpick and his droid not being there to explode in a spectacular fashion as per the usual
Your first reason was the lighting and how every scene with him in The Clone Wars had him in a dimlit interior room. Then you immediately contradict yourself by showing him in a scene during a sunset so what tf was the point of that?
Personally I don’t mind his facial structure being more rounded but I wish his mouth was a bit lower and still believe his skin should have been bluer
God it’s like we can never just enjoy getting these characters in live action.
We do we have to crap on all the hard work and time put into bring the character to life
They're depressed. Cad is just feeling blue. Dooku was asked 'why the long face?'
The "fans" are paying too much attention to cad bane while Count Dooku's Easter Island head slips into the bushes.
Comparing his saturation to the sky, I'm convinced. He is significantly more blue than the sky. If that relationship were maintained to the kind of deep blue sky, we might say on say, Endor, then I think he would be as dark as he is in the animation.
The age theory is kind of what hit me at first. It kinda makes sense to me that as Cad got older, his vibrant youthful palor would indeed get paler.
It’s deeper and not as nasally or southern.
absolutely no character looks the same between animated and live action.... even C-3PO
Dude... it looks like someone's budget cosplay from a backwater Star Wars CON.
You're absolutely correct on all accounts. People are just looking for something to hate on and complain about.
What immediately stood out to me when seeing live action cad was his shorter face with mouth higher up, and the smaller hat. Never really had an issue with the skin color.
The lightness in the skin gives that realistic transparency look. If it was anymore blue it would’ve come off as rubbery.
Finally, someone mentioned the saturation lighting. I was wondering if we were gonna have to wait for CorridorCrew to bring it up.
He looks like an angry teenager while he is supposed to be 70 years old
I think the main thing that will make cad bane much more accepted is if his relaxed and non-agressive facial expressions and animations are there.
Literally one episode later he’s indoors and has his traditional Clone Wars shade of blue
I actually think they made his face look younger, his mouth is smaller and less wrinkly and his eyelids don´t hang as low.
You convinced me and your doctor, you’re colorblind.
I had chocked up the difference in appearance to the discrepancy between live action and animation when I first saw it, but she also makes sense
Seeing people complain about live action Cad Bane made me think about how star wars fans can't simply be happy.
