I really like the talk show, chatting style of show. Also, I like how it tends to be shorter (10-20 minutes) vs. an hour-plus like other channels. Keep it up!

I really enjoy the talk show format. One of the things that stands out for me about the channel is that you guys don't really pigeonhole yourselves into one type of 40k content. It's not a strictly competitive, painting, or lore channel, it's an amalgamation of everything the hobby has to offer which keeps the videos fresh and interesting with each release. I would however love to hear more about your hobby journeys, maybe something really wacky or cool happened in your last game, or you tried out something new when it comes to painting and modeling, tell us about it! At the end of the day this is a channel where two friends come together to talk about something they love, and we love that!

I really enjoy the laid back style of this channel. It does very much carry the feeling of chatting with your buds about 40k. As for other things to see. I did enjoy hearing about your tournament experience with the Anvil Siege Force. More stuff like that I think would be cool. Talking about your recent play experience, the lists you used, and how well it worked or didn't.

  • @JawaBob

Thanks Steve! Love the content, my favorite by far is your rundown of your success with a Anvil Siege Force list. It has inspired me to try the detachment myself. I'd love to see more videos highlighting different ways to play and unsung strategies or units that keep the game fresh and fun (not even limited to Space Marines). Keep up the great work!

I love the fact that this channel doesnt solely focus on whatever is hypercompetitive and leaves the larger rest of the game completely by the wayside.
You talking about e.g. how to make anvil siege force work and its real upsides is a very welcome change of pace from all the content out there that makes it seem like anything that isn't ironstorm or flamestorm isn't even worth considering from a powerlevel perspective when it comes to codex compliant chapters.

    SHOUT OUT TO STEVE.
Imperial fists are my favorite. But it was so tricky to make them good. Watching steve play and hearing his advice on the anvil siege force helped me win my first game with imperial fists, against blood angel's too! What a feat.

Good morning Steve! Is there a discord channel I don't know about? That'd be nice to see!
I really enjoy the content where you can deep dive about Space Marine strategies, updates, etc. It's so difficult for me to find time to learn it all myself, So it is nice to just be able to listen to stuff while I'm at work.
Battle reports could be a cool thing to put in the RUclips membership. The channel still remains as a way for us to discuss warhammer with friends like you said, but a 30 minute talk about your experience about your most recent RTT's would be fun and considered "extra".
As for you, what's next for you in 40k? New armies? Next big tournament you're attending? Or Ian too.

Personally Iv been enjoying these micro look at specific parts of the games, whether it’s at specific units like blade guard vets or specific aspects like list building geared towards scoring now that secondaries are changing the way they are.
Could you have a video over each faction and each detachment going over the best unit of each? Yes, but I also feel that nearly all channels so that and not a lot look into specific units. Not that you shouldn’t ever look into those units but that blade guard vet video was enjoyable for me to just learn more of a unit. Learn about different ways to use them, their strengths and weaknesses, maybe some hidden uses that people didn’t even think of.
Personally 95% of video types you’ve posted so far Iv enjoyed, and while I don’t reply to all of them I do try to but I have been enjoying them and just wanted to say thanks man

I really like it when creator's call on their community for aid, let's us all know that it's impossible to go it alone.
I do like that this channel is mostly focused on talking about Warhammer (40k specifically) as well as the community around the game. I think you might do well with more round-table segments (whether it's about tournaments or new minis or codexes) with maybe up to 4 people if you can swing the space.
Showing off the tournaments you go to or interviewing people in those tournaments could also be good. Or maybe just film a trip to your LGS and talk with people playing Warhammer there. Make it seem like a less daunting climb for people wanting to get into the game/hobby.

There's three main components of 40k: lore, painting, and the table. We love the banter between y'all when talking about what's happening on the table, so maybe that opens up a meta watch video talking about what happened over the weekend in tourneys and then some battle reports as either tournament prep or goofing around with more out of the box builds.

I enjoy the talk show vibe of the show and keeping it fun.
    Content Id like to see:
Recaps of tournaments, unit spotlights, stratagem deep dives, shorter battle reports (under 1 hour), story time (I played a game recently and learned this lesson or really utilized this technique/strategy).
Definitely would be cool to get interviews with some top tournament players as well!
Maybe lay out a situation in a game and throw it to the audience and then discuss the results next episode.
(If x units were in this position what would you do?) maybe there isn’t a “right or wrong” but definitely a good discussion. Maybe even copy the situation from a tournament and then talk about how it resolved at the tournament!

My favourite video is "how to win at 40K". This is actually a video about how to lose at 40K, how not to care if you win or lose, and how to keep the game fun. I watch a lot of 40K content, but Hyperspace Hobbies is my sanity check so that the game stays fun for me. I like to play the kind of lists that Steve talks about: balanced, lore appropriate, perhaps experimental, as I try new units to see what they can do. It's refreshing to watch a channel that isn't about chasing the meta.
I love the channel the way it is. I guess I would like to see some strategy videos: how do you go into a horde of Tyranids, or a bunch of Imperial knights. As a space marine player, I am often stumped by skew lists.

Ugh, loving this new morning fix you guys have for me! Will add more once I finish the episode!
Alrighty then! So on to comments regarding the episode and questions posed!
    1) We certainly miss Ian being here, but great co-hosts you had today they really helped bring the episode home!
    2) Redemptor X Gladiator love is no joke and I ship them hard lol
    3) Thrilled the channel is growing and I really do hope you and this community can grow and get to 10K before Christmas, you and Ian truly deserve faaar more viewership for the work you are doing.
    4) Absolutely adore the content, it is clearly coming from a place of love for the hobby, the lore, the game, and the experience of friendship with those you play with and the community engagement! That said, I can't say in particular what I would want to be the subscriber content, but I can say whatever it is I'll enjoy it greatly no matter what. A bit of advice; whatever it is, please try to make it something you enjoy as well it really comes through when content creators enjoy the content they are making (which comes through greatly with the videos you are making now) and, at least for me, make it all the more enjoyable.
    5) I thoroughly enjoy the videos where you talk about the meta, but also the "off the beaten path" ways to play. I really enjoyed your discussion about your, I believe, your Imperial Fist list about 3 weeks ago. You took a detachment considered to be lower tier and absolutely built a list to maximize on it and it was cool hearing about, cool hearing your thoughts behind why you built it and how you ran it to such success. As an aside, I believe it was the same list that you ran in the Play On game against Tak's White Scars and I have to say that video has been far and away one of my favorite of all time. Again, was cool to see what is probably considered an unconventional list played by someone trying to do something cool for the sake of cool and showing what the non-Meta picks can be viable and competitive.
    6) I do want to say that I love the conversational talk-show style you two have cultivated in how you approach your topics it makes it very easy to get into, follow, and not feel lost especially when you talk about factions I'm unfamiliar with or rules that I haven't had the chance to look into yet so that helps a lot!
Thanks for the read if you made it this far! Keep up the good work and I can't wait for the next episode and know Steve, even if Ian wasn't there today; we are all here with you! If I was in the area I'd certainly try to hang but maybe in the future we'll meet at a con or something and I can finally get to say hi! lol Have a good one folks!

I think you guys are doing great at making the channel a peaceful, fun place to talk about 40k. I do find myself feeling a limitation in that you guys have the things you like in things like, what armies you play n stuff, and the truth is this game is *massive*.
Maybe introduce guests who can talk with you on expansive topics beyond y'alls particular corner of the hobby? I personally also enjoy longer-form videos, so I'd love this style just stretched to maybe around 30 minutes maybe.

You rarely make a video that I wouldnt be interested in. I think whatever compass you have that is guiding you towards making videos on one topic or another seems to be calibrated well, at least as far as I'm concerned. I'd say keep doing what you're doing.
One thing that I enjoy is the smattering of space marine content. I think so few channels treat space marines as anything other than a "beginner" army, so its refreshing to see some more advanced space marine content that really delves into the sorts of things that veteran players are doing to get the most out of the army. Not saying by any means that is all I'd want the channel to be, but every once in a while if I see a HH video about space marines; I am really excited because I know its going to be more than just a surface level discussion.

Hey Guys! I have been enjoying the content you have been putting out. The conversation and discussion aspect is spot on, and is working great! I really enjoy how responsive you guys have been to the RUclips comments section. Clearly you guys read it, so hopefully my feedback here is helpful!
My favorite content so far has been the list building series. It has been really interesting to hear your takes on what goes into a list and why. I also really enjoyed the talk about the Gravis/Anvil Siegeforce list and how it did at the tournament. I think that is a concept you guys could build on!
Battle reports are nice, but there are so many different channels that do those. It would be interesting instead to get "Post Game" breakdown discussions about what works with interesting or unique lists you guys have used either casually or competitively. What went right, what didn't work out the way you thought when building, what situations were tough to deal with, and what accidentally worked out better than expected. It would be nice to hear what you would do differently as well with the benefit of hindsight.
You guys also clearly have large communities to tap into. Third seat guests every once in a while could be fun to see!
    Thanks for the content guys!

Hey Steve! I like this channel, you guys have found an untapped market. Lots of battle report and lore channels already. I keep coming back, because you and Ian always look at the game from a different perspective than myself and you both are a wealth of information, knowledge and experience. For example, the "how to use baldegaurd" video, or your thoughts on Anvil Siege Force. These are things I would not have otherwise considered trying out. Your conversations always flow nicely, and are very educational. Also, video length is perfect! Its not that I don't mind a 1.5 hour Luetin lore video, but I don't always have that kind of time. 20 minutes or less *insert Pacha just right meme* However, what I really need to see is your full collection of Space Marines! A suggestion for future content: community hobby hangouts/paint night kind of thing. Also, "reviews" of games you and your group play, clips of funny or game deciding moments. Not necessarily full games, just small clips.
    Thanks for making great content!

The BGV one is one of my favorite beside you talking about taking anvil first. More unit/army list focus. Give us army list you have not did try yet or something going absurd on outrider for example or any armies you play. It means yes Steve you could start playing chaos to give us better idea. Not talk about meta-list but army list that could go that way. A new video about the new demon sucessful list(because they were already doing great) or how to deal with this kind of army. More tactics or plan in link with Pariah. A cheap membership that could let you record more video could be nice too.

But you've always reminded me of myself and my journey in 40K.
All I really want to see is you improving. If you can improve then I can improve. I also subscribe to your channel because I enjoy the breakdowns on how to play the game. I don't really care so much for lore. I want to hear your take on what the meta is and both of your opinions about it.

As someone relatively new to the hobby I hear all the time to build what you want, but while I want my list to feel like my own I also don’t want to go into games and have this big glaring fault in what I’ve built and not know it

Things i would love to see, Interview other content creators and have the same candid conversations that you two have, in an unscripted way. Take the Show on the Road, Space Marine Steve coming to my town playing on my board against me and my buddies with some sort of edited Video montage of the good times, no need to stream the games or do a play on table type thing just take some video or pictures and make memories with new players from all over. I love it when Steve thinks outside the box and plays neat combos, the Guilliman double Oath of Moment in 1st company detachment was such a cool idea, had those eradicators not died, or actually hurt anything, my brother!! . your the only one out there making these fun builds and playing them for the world to see. The Anvil Siege force build, also awesome. What other fun lists have you made that you think would be neat but not played? Your video about just having fun and enjoying the game win or lose, this is something more people need to hear and talk about. Have some Focused Faction Talk segments where you go into what you think the factions have that is cool and what each could use. Play some Narrative Games and then Narrate over them, show people there are other ways to play that are not standard mission/secondaries..Collaborate with Terrain Makers on RUclips there are tons of them that would love to show off their amazing Terrain Pieces. Is there a favorite part of the lore that you want to talk about, can you stomach majorkill as a guest, can you get on a call with the sandman of Terra and talk about what you you think is going to happen, Can you setup a Video with Lysander and Koda show off your armies and talk about the Game on their basically Lore Channel? Show case some of the amazing Painters, and Minis, connect your audience to some of these folks, talk about the Golden Demon, ask for Kit-Bash Pictures and pick the ones you like, offer up the chance for us to build your lists and you give us a battle report on how they did. Do a Video on Space Marine Chapters individually lots of videos out there focus on what is good and what is Meta, but i am sure that there is allot of flavor out there that we are not seeing because its not competitive?

    Sustains:
    1. The cult of personality being built by your nicknames is one of the best slogans you have for grabbing attention and eyes balls. For example “Space Marine Steve” that tells the whole audience right there what you’re about and how you play. Which is like a chad. “My good friend Ian” say’s what Ian is all about. He’s a warm, love able guy who isn’t just a co-host with Steve. But is also becoming OUR good friend as well. Which helps to create an actual connection with the community as opposed to us just feeling like an audience.
    2. You both do exceptionally well in your deep dive of specific units or vehicles (see land raider redeemer for example) and considering how you’re channel is “vibes” wise. As being somewhat newer player friendly I feel this is a massive pro for this channel. Continue to deep dive into units and vehicles to teach the newer members of 40K how to play and what to buy. 40K is a very overwhelming game at first glance, and with prices rising we want to make sure those “hard learned lessons” aren’t being learned at the expense of someone’s wallets. Or at least reduced in this case.
    3. Your “networking” with other channels like Play On TableTop for example. I have specifically subscribed to that channel because I saw a video with the two of you in it. The more places you are, the more you’ll be seen, the more you get seen, the more people come to the channel. And why wouldn’t we you guys rock!😉
    Improves:
1 Try to make your videos “stick to the script” as much as possible as sometimes it does seem to wander or “get lost in the weeds.”
    2. I know Steve is a teacher (which takes a lot of time and dedication) and I’m sure Ian is employed as well, but if possible try to make more videos. You guys are a unique and fun channel that I believe wouldn’t “dry out” if we saw twice a week.
    3. This one kinda goes with my second point. Try and get some guests. I know “three’s a crowd” but within the 40K community there are some GREAT personalities out there. Of which I believe many would provide unique insight’s into your instructional videos as well as entertainment value.
Closing: These are of course my opinions and can be disregarded as you please. I only like to do my part to help you guys. Even if you change absolutely nothing about the channel it’s still an A level channel in my book. I really enjoy your work gentlemen and as always GREAT VIDEO!

Think 40K dirt bags or the Australian gentleman who’s channel is something like “blog for the blood god” would be pretty cool. You’d be getting some “big names” to grab eyeballs (obvi) but then also sprinkling in some “little guys” which helps them grow and maybe even YOU GROW (😉) in ways you wouldn’t imagine. Plus you’d be helping people expand their channels (hopefully) which would make’s people grateful to you. Which in turn helps expand your influence, credibility, and “voice” in the 40K sphere. I enjoy the talk show feel, which is different from a lot of 40k content. Don’t change that and try to get into bat reps, that’s not your niche IMO. I also enjoy the shorter episodes. 15-20 minutes is a nice length and can be watched in between life, unlike 2-3 hours of some videos. I’ve really enjoyed some of the unit discussions, the RTT recap episode, and many others.

A lot of other channels will do quick list reviews, and it inevitably turns into 30 seconds of “quick, spend $250 and replace X unit with Y unit and B unit with C unit.” I would love a more in depth breakdown, that looks at a sample list (submitted by future channel members?) and talks about what the list seems to be trying to do, what its weaknesses are in a broader sense, and what different units could plug those gaps. Especially for folks who might have limited collections or budgets, just telling people to blow a ton of money and hobby time on something specific is so much less helpful than “hey, this SM list is going to struggle to score secondaries. Maybe replace X unit with scouts or inceptors or jump pack intercessors as ways to score those”
