    "There must be an other villain in this season that we haven't seen yet".

      @@jaypeakay5864you weren't wrong, but we have indeed seen the other villain, briefly...or at least foreshadowing of them. 😉

    Correct, she's not genuinely resisting here. They're making a point to show that

    Here we see Buffy acting as a kind of 'sponsor' for Willow trying to cleanse the house of anything that might tempt Willow to have a relapse. We can see how frosty the Dawn/Willow relationship has now become. Interesting with Spike and Buffy in the kitchen, her addiction to him is also now critical too, as she can't seem to resist his advances. Some comedy with the Probation Inspector with the bag of weed (btw there is a hilarious outtake from this scene on youtube with Buffy, Spike and The Social Services woman, where SMG comes out with hilarious x-rated comment about what Spike is doing to her, it's well worth a look), but again it is serious as it could lead to Buffy losing Dawn, coupled with what the Inspector sees as really strange characters living there such as Willow and Spike. The Trio now are irritating beyond endurance, and continue to make Buffy's life even more difficult. Buffy actually seems to be enjoying being invisible at this stage as she can now exploit her urges and desires for Spike without getting caught. When Xander comes into the crypt we have the funny, but ridiculous scenario of Spike pretending he is exercising. We have to ask ourselves the uncomfortable question here, is Buffy exploiting Spike? Crazy I know, but this is what is actually happening here. He is being used for her own sexual gratification, with no consequences for her, interesting juxtaposition in role reversal between the two, we even see the soulless Spike being almost hurt by her attitude towards him. Comedy relief at then end with the word 'nemesis' nemesises' etc. Great conversation with Buffy and Willow at the end. A lot to unpack in this episode, hence the lengthy comment. I loved S6, but can see why many did not.

    It's funny that you used Jack Nicholson as a reaction because "All work and no play makes Doris a dull girl" is a reference to the "The Shining" movie, where JN he types out "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" for pages and pages. (Maybe you caught that in your full reaction anyway).

    I guessed you would give it a 7.5, and I guessed right for a change!
    I think Buffy herself is sort of going through the motions of life at the moment, and SMG was trying to show that through her lackluster tone. It's like a "nothing really matters so why try" vibe...

    I feel Dawn has, many times, grounded reasons for being upset: Knowing the Scoobies and her family are acting odd and lying to her in S5 (the key storyline), finding out why in S5, worrying about Glory, Buffy dying, Social Services, a broken arm, the person who broke it (Willow) is still living in the same roof, and Buffy not caring about being invisible forever and trying to have fun in serious moments are some examples. In this episode, Dawn is calling Buffy out on what Buffy assumes is a reason to just cut loose and avoid responsibility due to her depression.
    At this point, is Buffy really the best person to be legally responsible over Dawn? I don't believe so. Not while she's depressed. Doris Kroeger is doing her job correctly considering Buffy's emotional state and actions. Also, if Buffy was frustrated at Spike for being there when social services shows up, why didn't she just give him his lighter when he asked for it aka before Doris Kroeger showed up?
    While invisible, Buffy goes to Spike. With him not aware of what's happening, she throws herself at him. That's sexual assault. And she doesn't tell him, he has to figure out what's going on. Then after Xander leaves, Spike tells Buffy to get her clothes and go home. She instead gives him a blow job. The next scene we see Buffy in, she is upset Spike kicked her out. How is it that Spike kicked her out considering he would either have to stop her to kick her out, or force her off him? That's rhetorical because the reason the writers cut away and never officially explained it is because its not justifyable. It had nothing to do with what they could or couldn't air. With Buffy invisible they could show more than usual, even for S6. Buffy's actions are horrible. I've even seen some people try to say as long as Spike does unwanted touching to her or because he's soulless she has the right to do whatever she wishes and I remember thinking I didn't want to meet people who ever tried justifying the act on an _its OK sometimes_ level. The odd thing about the scene is that the sex Xander doesn't know he witnessed is more consentual than the above moments I mentioned surrounding it.

      @Buffy8Fan 4 месяца назад +2

      @@Atika55555 Dawn's not blaming Buffy for what happened to anyone. She's upset Buffy doesn't seem to be caring. And considering she's goofing off all day while everyone else is researching and while Dawn is trying to have a serious discussion with her, I find Dawn being upset understandable. I was stating that after all Dawn's been through, she has reason's to feel upset. There's a fifference between that and throwing blame at Buffy.

      This really should have been the season that the show addressed Buffy and Dawn's parental situation and their isolation from their other family members... and truly how irresponsible their father is. I know the show operates off "found family," but it's a big hole that's hard to ignore as of this episode.
      Also, S6 operating off very real, dark issues pushed all the main characters into very morally grey, if not outright morally offensive territories that I don't think would be handled the same way if it were written today.

      @nicholasjh1 4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, I thought the reaction that Dawn was 'still' upset with Willow was a little of the mark but that's okay. Everyone has different tolerances I suppose

      @@cajah88 SPOILERS FOR COMICS
      The closest the Buffyverse ever gets to that again is in the comics when he, in person invites Dawn, and not Buffy to the wedding he has to his secratary. He says Buffy cannot come because at that point the whole world knows about the supernatural, including slayers, and he doesn't want any of it to ruin the wedding. Dawn declines and we never see hin canonically again. Dawn has time to yell at him for what your talking about, but the single issue doesn't waste time with the character that is Hank Summers. The girls more enforce they have each other and that's what matters.
      Definitely agree with your second paragraph and I find that sad. I'm not the biggest fan of S6 for the very reason of "all the main characters [having] very morally grey, if not outright morally offensive territories," but I respect it for the same reason. It part of the reason to why the show holds up today.

    Time for one my of my favorite bits of nerdy trivia: if you stop and think what “being invisible” actually means, I means that photons are passing through you without interacting with you in any way. For instance, if you’re invisible and standing in front of, say, a purple panda bear, some photons are going to reflect off the panda, pass through you, and into someone else’s eyes; they see the panda, they do not see you. If the definition of “invisible” is “photons passing through you without interacting with you in any way”, that means they can pass through any cell in your body without affecting it in any way. Including the cells in your eyes. Which means you’d be blind. :)
    Wish I could say I figured that out on my own, but alas. I first came across the idea in Classic Who, but it wasn’t stated explicitly and I can be dense, so I didn’t fully click what they were saying. It was finally hammered into my head by Warren Ellis (another Brit, now that I think about it) in, I think, one of his Planetary comics, which I recommend to anyone who’s into comics. They’re not perfect, but I found them interesting, FWIW.

    Neck issues can be irritating and you are never quite comfortable.That ia not your neck but also The Trio. After all the craziness of most episodes to start the season, this is tame but Dawn is spiraling. Buffy is going full into her duality of Joyce( single Mother) and rogue Slayer ( Faith) Very enjoyable reaction and hope you feel better soon.
