    The bewildering choices we have in automotive lighting nowadays staggers me. We're no longer confined to sealed-beam non-halogen lights as we were between about 1935 and 1975. The LED lights are my favourite for their decreased draw on the alternator. Mahalo for the tutorial!

    Thank you Jason! Did my lights a while ago and about to install my painless harness (working on other electrical issues before adding the headlights to the mix) but I have hated my turn signals as they needed the relays replaced. Wasn't something that was really on my radar but seeing this video and my own progress with electrical made me just order these today.

    Recently purchased a CLEAN one-owner '95 Tahoe 2-door 4x4 in beautiful Emerald Green from the original buyer! First thing I did was purchase all-new exterior lenses and replacement LED bulbs. After wasting money on a couple relays other RUclipsrs claimed would work to fix hyperflashing, I stumbled across your video. Swapping both the flasher and hazard relays to the ones you recommended was THE only fix. Literally solved all my issues. Thank you for the great videos, and keep up the Tahoe content! By the way, already ordered the Belltech shocks and I am cranking the OEM front keys just 1.5". Thanks for saving me money! 😁

    Nice upgrade on the LED lights.
    On the trim/bumper paint, I actually painted the grey bumpers on my PT with the same stuff and black as well, though I did more of a process, cleaning it with dish soap to remove any wax, spraying on a coating of adhesion promoter, then putting down the bumper paint. As for how long it lasts, well I've only done it twice in about 10 years, but for sure depends on how picky you are about the color (it will fade over time, and my experience in Michigan, not California).

    Hi. I have a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado K3500 6.5 Turbo Diesel. 4x4 regular cab.
    Thank you for the video. I was able to change all lightning in front of my truck to LED. I followed your video and purchased all you recommended. Everything works and looks great. Thank you.
    Just a quick note about my 4 way hazzard flashers. I did buy the EP28 and EP36. For some reason my 4 way flashers were at normal speed. I did not need to use the EP28 flasher relay. Perhaps this will help someone save $21 by not needing to buy. You definitely do need the EP36 turn signal flasher to stop hyperflashing. It worked well and turn blinkers operate at normal speed. So perhaps install some LEDs first and see if your 4 way hazzards flash at normal speed. Hopefully you can same some money.
    Also i have a question about the taillight brakelight bulbs you recommend. Are they red in color when lit? I thought a white light works better through a red lense. If you use a bulb with red light i will give it a try. Also the rear of your truck is showing amber or orange in video. Is that from the bulb or lenses? Please explain the rear lights of truck if you get a moment.
    You did a great job in your video. Thank you very much for sharing.

    I put those same bulbs in and in 2 of the sockets the contacts would not reach all the way. If you pushed them in they would light up but not in the locked position. I could never get LED bulbs to work in the rear of my '96 Silverado so I got fed up with it after trying four different kinds of LEDs for the back brands that is. I eventually ended up ordering rear LED light fixtures from Spyder Auto and man they are super bright. I also purchased a light bar for underneath my tailgate and when I put reverse on after wiring up the reverse light it lights up at least 1 acre of my land because it is so bright. A lot of people love my tailgate stop light bar and they are amazed by how easy it was to install when I tell them. The only thing you have to do is plug it in to your towing light socket four prong but the reverse you have to hardwire into your reverse on one of your tail lights the closest one to the wires on the reverse light bar. Just a little tip for anybody that wants to use a stop light light bar underneath their tailgate. Usually the 3M tape that's on the back of that strip actually holds on very well as long as you have a couple of days to let the glue actually cure meaning you put it on and you can drive it around after installing it no problem but make sure it's not going to rain or you don't wash your vehicle for at least a couple of days to let the 3M tape bond to the truck and make sure you use some rubbing alcohol to clean the area and let it dry completely before you install the light strip so it will adhere a lot better.

    • @JingleBop
      @JingleBop 8 месяцев назад

      Put in some of those "ballast" resisters. They flasher relay needs some resistance to work, if everything is LED it won't provide the current draw necessary to activate the flasher.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  8 месяцев назад

      Make sure you put the correct relay in... it must say LED on it.

  • @MarshallSmith27
    @MarshallSmith27 Год назад +1

    It needs to be said since it wasnt said in the video. You don't JUST buy 9005 and 9006 bulbs. You need 9005/HB3 and 9006/HB4 bulbs. All bulbs are not the same.
    Also I very much recommend the EP-36 relay. My truck started having hyper flash when the headlights were on and an occasional just fast flash when the aren't on. I cleaned all the sockets and checked the tail light boards and it was just a simple relay going bad after 30 years. I don't run LED's but the new EP-36 is much quieter and I get a more uniform blink which is a plus

    Just found your channel. I’m in the process of swapping out my headlights and turn signals. The switchback lights are mint in those factory housings, love them! My question for you is the light output of the 9006-05 LED bulbs. They definitely look brighter but what does the beam pattern look like? The aftermarket ones I got when I bought my truck recently are garbage with no usable light. I want to go back to OEM housing but with LED bulbs instead of the halogens.

Just wish I could find a 194 that would be white like the turn signals and flash amber to match. But I guess amber will have to do while the lights are on. I still think it looks awesome. I’m going to replace the orange side markers with white frosted ones. Great detailed video.

    Best thing I've done on my 97 c1500 was get glass head lights. even with the standard headlight bulbs the now clear lenses make a world of difference and other than getting broken they should stay clear and not frost over like the plastic ones. I also replaced the tail lights and the new red plastic if clearer and they seem brighter do to that. I was still having issues with some of the tail lights not working even though the bulbs were good and that seemed to be more from the "circuit board", for lack of a better term, not being snapped together well. When I pushed the tan board into the black backing board all of the bulbs started working and they haven't given me any issues in about 6 months. I usually think of the heat of incandescent tail light heat causing the issue, but it maybe that the heat causes the tan board to come lose from the black backing board more than actually the sockets enlarging and the bulbs get loose.

    Man I did an LED swap on a 97 chevy and I ended when I got the bulbs in I had problems with certain bulbs being lit, mismatched bulbs when using the brake or depending on if your daytimes are on or headlights. I ended up getting new circuit boards, same thing, i snipped off the pigtail just today because the old one started to not work at all unless I put force behind it toward the circuit board. Also I already Che Jed my relays and fuses. I also have the ep29 relay under the dash for the hyper flash. The lights are atleast making a very good connection with my new pigtails, but on the driver side , the reverse light acts ass all of my back lights

    I followed your plan on my 2001 Tahoe. Headlights are amazingly bright! All work great except the driving lights/turn signal lights are not the old style twist in bulbs, but the newer clip in style. I had to order the JDM ASTAR Extremely Bright 3030 Chipsets White/Yellow 3157 3155 3457 4157 Switchback LED Bulbs with Projector For Turn Signal Lights. They work fine except not with the small side running lights. When I remove those side light bulbs the driving/signal lights work fine. So for now, I just left the small side running light bulbs out. Any suggestions for how to make the turn signal and side running lights work together? I did upgrade the combined flasher/signal relay with EP-29L I picked up at NAPA auto parts.

    • @jimstockhaus218
      @jimstockhaus218 2 года назад

      @@AutoEdits yes, I used the small auxbeam 194 led bulbs in the side markers and both sides exhibited the same issue. As soon as I took out the small side leds the signal lights worked fine. I tried putting the old incandescent bulbs in the side markers but got the same results as with the leds.

    • @josephbragg1162
      @josephbragg1162 Год назад

      I had the exact same problem with that little bitty 194 side marker light in the front with my switchback lights and tried for nearly a year to figure out how to get those lights to work with the switchback and the only thing I saw online was I had to rewire my little 194 lights and ground those separately and it seemed like such a pain in the rear that I just left the little lights out and it does not bother me because the switchbacks are so bright you will not see that little light anyways. If anything else comes up are you find a solution let me know because I am in the same boat but not much of a big deal though.

    97 Chevy OBS c1500 related
    I’ve been chasing around this issue with my flashing hazard lights. When I press the brake pedal with the emergency lights activated; the flashers stop blinking & stay solid with my brake lights. After I let off the pedal, they continue to flash normally. I’ve replaced my flasher switch, I’ve changed relays, cleaned fuses and grounds and also replaced my brake 6-pin switch but I can’t come up with anything. Any ideas?

    • @tjbuck
      @tjbuck 2 года назад +2

      Thats just the way it is. Since there are no amber lights as the turn signals in the back, you really can't have the brake lights flash for hazards and then stay solid as brake lights.
