Building an Authoritarian Hogwarts in Rimworld

- CHAOS is the greatest weapon in Rimworld. And today, by combining it with mass food poisoning, magic, and of course an off-brand Harry Potter, we're going to be mastering the Rimworld of Magic mod. The mod, which is an entire magic overhaul to Rimworld, is one of the largest, most fun, and flushed out mods in the whole game. Enjoy!

Ah, feralisks, the actual stuff of my nightmares. I was never happier in my latest colony than when a broodmother feralisk spawned on my map, it entered via one of two entrances that I had sealed completely, and I watched as the feralisk and all its disgusting children died at varying speeds. I think like ten juveniles died before the mother finally collapsed. And then the extremely malnourished cougar who was also dying slowly on the edge of the map ripped the feralisk's throat out and gorged itself on spider meat.
It was like watching an extremely messed up and disturbing episode of Planet Earth.
Even if you manage to tame a Broodmother its absolute hell, so many god damn spiderlings that just devour the entire map and your kitchen.
@@dragonace119 Yeah, I had enough trouble rushing to animal feeding research while keeping my herd alive, and spiders and I have a tense relationship IRL as it is. As long as they don't move when I'm near them, everything is okay, but anything more and it's extinction time. Spiders in games get the same treatment since I tried Grounded and felt spiders "on me" for like a week. I saw broodmother and immediately went "nope, painful death be upon you"
The feralisk-infested biome is actually my favorite biome. The spiders there are remarkably dangerous and aggressive, and the jungle is alien and hard to navigate.
It's like the whole forest is hostile and wants you dead. Very cool. Even cooler when you manage to carve yourself out a place, with fire and axe, and thrive in that biome.
@@mirceazaharia2094 the tip there is to use fences - Feralisks won’t hunt unless they’re inside the wire, and fences are a lot cheaper than walls. Since prey animals wont wander into the fenced area, it will also draw the feralisks further away from the fence, since thats where the eating’s good.
@@jakeking974 I feel you.
Time magic is also pretty op. Able to suddenly grow crops many times faster than normal. Can also make enemies extremely old and crippled.
Dont forget literally turning back time so a colonist is alive again
skidaddle skidoodle, you now have dementia
yeah Chronomancers are just a weeeeee bit broken when it comes to time acceleration. Because giving 10 raiders ever increasing carcinomas in several body parts, asthma, frailty, permanent injuries and dementia has never been a more effective method of defense.
@@dime.c120 asthma has nothing to do with age wth do they get that?
@@gamingnamehere1560 I've just had a few become afflicted with asthma when my Chrono used time accel. I don't know if it's 100% or I'm remembering wrong. If you get the chance, try it.
Only thing worse than food poisioning is those damn gut worms.
can you repalce a gut worm stomach with a new one? like can you remove a prisoners healthy stomach and replace it or would the patient die
@@Jairjax Just use the "med pod" mod. it uses a HUGE amount of energy but it can heal almost every wound you can possibly get!
also, do not forget to get the "prepare carefully" mod for a custom game. if youd like to hear more about essential mods feel free to ask :)
EDIT;
well you could also try to harvest a simple raiders stomach and replace it i guess? itll be worth a try but i think it will be ending horribly :D
I was using "prepare carefully" for a medieval playthrough. So I had this guy who's my industrial powerhouse that barely gets to see sunlight when I need him to build shit while also slowly becoming pretty good as a melee tank. Then all of a sudden I remembered that since I had too many mods I didn't bother nit-picking his traits so instead of sending me hordes of raiders, Randy decided the best way to punish me is to slap my "sickly" handyman with sensory mechanites, gut worms and plague within the same quadrum, with several days of having literally all 3 illnesses on at the same time. Man was having a great time since I basically micro'd the doctor to stay on him the entire time plus a butt load of various drugs just to keep him from losing it with the excruciating pain. He got out of it alive like half a year later and married the doctor, classic hentai nurse story. Rim life is good.
@@huauua5414 Med Pods cause big problems with missing thingies in my mod lists. So I removed it. Get DE Surgeries I think it's called, it has treatments to cure these illnesses outright, as well as fix all sorts of ailments (curing asthma, old age ailments - bad back, frail, missing fingers, scars etc).

A weapon that deletes tables would be the most overpowered but ok
Nah, because you need to enter their base and delete the table.

The Chronomancy spell Reverse time is completely balanced. If you level the silly perk to the right (or left I don't Remember?) you can remove illnesses. Which is perfect for people who get mana sickness. Keep spamming that spell to not only restore your youth but to train your magic and a alarming rate because there is no possible chance of death. Works for both the main class and Chaos mages.
the chronomancy forward time spell is better because you can grow devilstrand in like 5 seconds and its amazing
@@ieatdirtwasntavailable Not efficient for training magic. Most humanoids suffer mana Sickness which counts as a Disease/ injury which would automatically be cured after reversing time. In result you can spam reverse time with minimum consequences (Besides being forever young) I'm not saying its not better then accelerate time. Just better for training your magic level. (You can use those perks to level accelerate time)
@@ieatdirtwasntavailable Just get VFE Vikings for the Psychic Cornucopia, which instantly ages to maturity every harvestable plant in its radius. More Archotech Garbage can make it craftable, or you can duplicate it with the Replicator from Terraform RimWorld.
The Martial Training and Magical Training spells are better for grinding fighter / mage xp. They're craftable with the first tier of Scribing research, any class can learn them and are incredibly cheap (some cloth and magicyte).
The hybrid classes (with stamina AND mana pools) can learn and cast both, and level both ability trees very fast.
Just learn them, put them on auto-cast for a quadrum or two, and watch your guys skyrocket in levels.
I had 6 classes (two Technomancers, two Chefs, two Medics) nearly maxed in all abilities, as well as mana/stamina regeneration stats before the first year was over.
@@mirceazaharia2094 fighter classes are usually the easiest to grind. They have no real downside to spamming abilities. I'm genuinely shocked the modder didn't implement a "fatigue" system. Just raise there tiredness (and pain for muscle cramps) for more immersion.
But yeah on topic the training spells are meant for that. I run semi random research so I don't usually don't see this.
i totally love this mod... necromancer and shaman are absolutely nonsense.
God I hate deathbolts, since I don't use necros, extremely dangerous. Shamans look amazing, really looking forward to using those.
@@mirceazaharia2094 necros can raise 24h straight working pawn slaves which wil never rebel... it's like bots but better since with some prep you can choose which pawns to res depending on their stats. Zombies will never increase or lose their skills, however pawns will be frightened by them when they meet them. Just make them work far away in a mine or at a mining drill and you've solved two problems.
The Shaman has the lightning totem which is *INSANE* with the only downside it doesn't work with manhunting animals (unlike the pylon of the arcane mage). But against invaders, non depending the size, place two totems and you're good to go... They're made of OPness and fear.
@@TheIceThorn Necros I feel are good for a run with a specific theme, as well as downright good in general. But yes, two Shamans are on the list for my next playthrough. I'm more interested in their synergy with Black Mages - put Enrage on an enemy in a crowd, the crowd stops to fight the berserk guy, your Black Mage nukes them.
Or put down Spirit Wolves, tie up the enemy with them, your gun line shoots them, and your Black Mage nukes them.
Basically, in this future playthrough, I will be trying out a few classes which seem promising, and I've never really tried, or never used to their full potential.
Red Mages, Super Soldiers, Deadeyes, Warriors, Wardens, Empaths, Keepers, Black Mages, Golemancers, Shamans, Dragoons, Troubadours, Scrappers, Gadgeteers, Wind Mages.
Sometimes one of each, two or each, or in case of classes where I need more riflemen (Super Soldiers) or snipers (Deadeyes), 8 and 4, respectively.
Add in 6 androids (2 Technomancers, 2 Chefs, 2 Medics) as critical support and command personnel. The troops will be clones (Plant Human mod) raised in a cave by the androids and bred for war.
With so many troops, I hope to throw in Winston Waves as storyteller and forge a defensive combat arena that relies on my people as primary defense, rather than turrets, with artillery or air strikes as counter to enemy artillery.
@@mirceazaharia2094 actually the magic mod is imba. I mean: 3 new rituals you can repeat again and again before the time resets to zero, set them to give you the chance for a new pawn. You've 50% for each ritual to get a guy and 2 rituals (enlightenment and arcane path), practically you can get a dozen of pawns in a row and keep converting them to mages. If you've a bard it gets even more op. Add the outposts mod and you have in minutes the world covered in cyan dots of your outposts.
Gonna throw this into the blender, my favorite class are monks since they are both low maintainance and watching him punch 100x in a single second is fun to watch
"nobody show up to their ceremony"
"ᵍᵒᵒᵈ"
I love the split second of the American anthem playing at 1:03 because of the utter mention of the word gun
obviously Chaos mage is the best -> keep rolling your chaos button for mana / buffs -> you can redistribute your leftover points EVERY time.. so Lv3 Sphincter Explosion on enemies -> then regain all mana with max Level Corpse Cannibalism.. Love the combos
imo the most OP classes are Blood mage and shadow hunter...
just imagine being instakilled by an orbital blood strike that chains off death....
and an assassin, that can zip zap teleport anywhere, be invisible and have infinite crit chance

Starcraft ost and an image from the game :DD
On the note of feralisk's...when I first started I usually played on swamp/jungle type biomes cause they look cool. I still remembered getting savaged by a map of like 40 babies and 3 adults, upside they helped fight my raiders as well. I don't play on those maps anymore, also cause not being able to build in some spots is just annoying.
3:22 I’ve spit all over myself from that long lost Relic’s name ngl
As a native philadelphian i can confirm half of our parks do look like a scene out of rimworld
Succubi are actually really powerful in RoM. Being on a one tile island made them a lot worse, (though still pretty nice if you could transport pod them to the mainland) but in general they have really good use. They only have one good skill, but it's a good skill to have. Soul bond gives the pawn a pretty sizable happiness buff for -15% of some stats, which is... acceptable I guess. The real good part of them is that they can teleport the soul bonded target to themselves (and teleport to bonded target but less uses) regardless of distance or map. You can use transport pods or simply march to any destination on the map and instantly recall them with whatever they have. If they are carrying pawns, they can be recalled as well. Very good for just scouting ruins and teleporting back if ever in a pickle, if that pawn becomes needed, or if they find something really nice.
That was absolutely hilarious. Definitely loving some chaos magic myself XD
the stronghold music was so nostalgic
This is so good its making me wanna play this masterpiece again

With vanilla expanded: Genetics you can create horrible abominations. There is even mod compatability so you can use dinosaur, alpha animal and even eldritch monster genes. You can literally make lovecraftian monsters into even worse abominations. Could make for a great video I reckon.
I'm so glad you made this video.
