    Excellent tutorial, thanks. Helped me replace my charging port. After I'd refitted 9 screws, I noticed that one of the remaining 3 was slightly shorter. I couldn't see where it should go, so just screwed it in a hole and glued up the back cover. All seems to be fine.

    Bro did you notice any extra wire from the charging port to the SOC? Because sony has a feature that provides power directly from the charger to the chip and cut off the battery while "gaming and charging" so that it doesn't damage the battery and can overclock the CPU a bit. 😱 My mind was blown...

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  4 года назад +5

      There wasn't any extra wire, but the flex cable that leads to the charger port is very wide, so its possible a line is ran through it or its possible the board is able to redirect the power itself and not charge the battery while gaming.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад

      The same way as the back plate of the phone. Its held on with adhesive, you would need to heat it up to loosen the adhesive and then you would use tools to help you pry the screen off from the midframe. As for the type of display, its possible aftermarket ones are LCD and not oled but would still work. Quality might not be the same since oled would have deeper colors.

  • @MrKata55
    @MrKata55 3 месяца назад

    Good thing the headphone jack is an easily accessible module, but you shouldn't have to remove all that stuff just to replace the USB-C receptacle (non-standard too) which is the most common first point of failure. Planned obsolescence is definitely there.

    Which company in your opinion is doing better engineering in phone's hardware and assembly? Say, if the flagships are considered.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  4 года назад +1

      Based off of my personal experience in using the devices, I have always been happy with Motorola devices. However as far as innovation and such goes, Samsung and others have been ahead in tech options but I personally have never been satisfied with how the hardware and software work together on Samsung devices. But Motorola seems to be upping their game with the cameras and such especially with the edge+. There are many options and brands out there its hard to select just one or two but all comes down to what exactly your looking for, and what that phone can do for you. A lot of the gaming devices are amazing as well when it comes to cooling and other aspects, but if say taking photos is your passion, then gaming phones will probably not be your ideal bet, since most focus more on cooling and gaming aspects compared to the camera's and photo taking experience.

    • @viri88

      @@PBKreviews Im a pretty careless user and in my experience, Motorola is a great basic phone. It fast probably because there is no funky bloatware, have great battery life, and it is so reliable. GPS seems to be working just fine even after multiple fall. Sony for me is the fancier but a little less reliable Motorola. I dont really like Samsung. Their reliability isnt that consistent. But again, this is my experience with these type of phones. Take it with a grain of salt.

    Hello, I have a question that i really hope you (or maybe anyone who read) can answer..
    do you think it will work if I take my main board to another device but different version?
    mine is 4/128gb dual sim, I'm planning to buy a secondhand 4/64 single sim version which is the cheapest one I can get from the market..
    my device screen is dead coz of water leakage but other than that i think it still works coz it still vibrates when i turn it on and my morning alarm still ringing as usual (and I can't turn it off with dead screen, dang..)
    I watched your vid and did the teardown (i was trying to see if there was dirt or something that mess with the components inside) and put it back again.
    Power button still vibrate, alarm still ring, but screen still dead, sadly..
    anyway, awesome review vid! it's really helpful!
    (Sorry for my bad english)

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  2 года назад +1

      Hi, yes you would be able to move the motherboard from one device to another regardless of the RAM/ROM size or sim capability. The only thing is some region devices have different antenna configurations (most of the time its software related so moving the board shouldn't make a difference) but sometimes its also hardware related where the antenna on the frame and the contacts on the sub board may be different which can cause poor reception or other issues like that.

    I thought this phone has a Li-Po battery, not Li-ion?

      It is a Li-Po as stated on top left of battery but ya not sure how the labeling of these go. Most batteries on phones say Lithium Ion Polymer so not sure

      omg you can read that? It's so small! What I saw is the more obvious one on the lower right. But then again I'm watching from my Xperia Z3 Compact 😂. You're right, how are these things labeled? Why label it with Li-ion if it's indeed polymer?

    Uses a metal spudger to pry stuff off the motherboard. Smartest thing I ever saw. 😆🤣🙄

      Once the battery is disconnected, the risk of any damage is small.

      I don't advise people to do it, but I have been doing it for over 14 years and with thousands of phones and not once had any issue. As long as you know what your doing, you should be fine. At the end of the day especially for the videos, it comes down to what is easiest to use to demonstrate. Plastic tools are much harder to work with for tighter confined spots, and in fact increase the chance of actually breaking the connectors off the board than disconnected the cables. But yes definitely not a good thing to use a metal tool while the battery is still connected but aside from that, the risk is so minimal, the only chance of you damaging anything is if you're in a static environment or if you jab at parts in the phone and physically damage them.

      So others can see how to take it apart when doing repairs.
