Maybe some attention getters outside like smallish triangular flags dotted around in bright colors. People are used to seeing y'all under the tent, which is a big attraction. They might just think the blue door is a gate?
I feel that if you put up more attention seeking signs/flags with GRAND OPENING it would draw more attention. Especially a bit before the stand where people can have a chance to pull in before they are already past. Also, putting more items you have for sale out front for now just to get people to stop and find out the deal. Then in a week or so you won't need to. People are creature of habits. If you get them to stop once they are more likely to do it again. I am routing for you guys! Really hope the store works.
Looking great! I'll make some suggestions marketing-wise that might help boost sales quicker : - You need a "Farm Shop" sign on the blank facade next to the door. You could add a open/closed hanging sign below - you're Red Roof Farm... The door and fascia board of the shop really should be the same red as your roof to keep your branding strong - cash-wise, you could install a strong lockable mailbox inside. - if at all possible, do set up your tent stand next to the shop a couple days a week for the next month or so (maybe at rush hour?) so people are more likely to stop. You can then "sell" them the convenience of the farm shop for future use! - a cctv camera (real or faux) installed inside, covering the cash box will deter theft - put in a sign(s) inside the shop emphasising the freshness, something like "fresh picked 300m away" "restocked x times a day" etc Maybe an aerial photograph with a "picked here!" over your crop area and "you are here!" over the farm shop. I say this because with the location, the house, the fence and surroundings your property doesn't look like a farm from the road.
You need a "fresh veggies ahead" type of sign a mile out! The stand looks great! I hope you guys are excited... there's a lot of potential in what you're doing.
What a breathe of fresh air for my life now that you are slowly reentering the social media .. we need people like you .. authenticity in the world of fake RUclips vlogs 🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️
Could you do a vertical flower display? The kind with the little buckets on a stand? That might allow you to put more out that is easily accessible with less space .
Love the farm stand! I have a small U-pick lavender field on a busy highway in Oregon. There’s a locking mailbox attached to a post with instructions for cutting. It’s also on the honor system. We saw a big increase in customers after adding signs 1/8 of a mile either direction. People mentioned that it was just enough advance notice before stopping. Your veggies look delicious and I love your bouquets!!! Best of luck! Good luck

I am thinking many of those who are buying flowers may eat out a lot or buy veggies cheaply from big stores and unaware of the taste of your local produce .. give them ideas .. like hummus next to bell peppers Carrots and cucumbers .. we Indian love to cook a lot of veggies .. always for every meal, although some of us are non veg !!! Not sure about that habit among people here !! They rather buy a bag of precut veggies for a quick meal .. or something .. none of my colleagues eat veggies like I do .. and I grow my own in Florida with massive heat and the Sun 😳🙄
Host a grand opening week of the farm stand with your usual table merchandised and set up. It will help attract attention and aid in the cross over. And you can introduce your customers to it in person.
I bet you’ll have tons of traffic once word spreads and people start seeing you as a stop on the way home/out option. My local stands operates on the honor system, there’s a locked cash box and it’s just open all the time with the farmers coming and going. It’s pretty cool knowing I can just pop over there whenever instead of waiting for a farmers market, we have 3 in one area with varying offerings so it’s such a fun little morning trip. And mine don’t have dope flower arrangements, I wish I could visit yours too!
Love your lighting inside. I would agree that your stand blends into your fencing. I'd change the door to red and paint open on the inside with farm name. Add a veggie/flower mural so it's eye catching. Not sure if you have the room to put a ladder type display for your bouquets, but it might free up some more counter/wall space. Most definitely add signs 1/4 mile down the road so they can start slowing down. Even something as corny as "Does your sweety need a bouquet today?". Love your obtaining your goals.
@@jcruz091790 I thought the blue look nice, red in my opinion wouldn't look as good. maybe the outside walls should've been painted a pale/pastel colour so that it has some contrast to the fence but not so much tat it looks bad
You need some color! The outside looks a bit bland, especially compared to your bright red tent with all the colorful flowers and veggies. This time of year I bet some pumpkins and winter squash would draw people.
Congratulations on getting the stand up and running. It looks great, and I'm sure it will be speeding away with sales very quickly, but I may have been tempted to have the doors red, because it would match your roof, and what people are already used to seeing with your portable stand. It's a shame you don't have a load of funky pumpkins to dress the outside with too, but I guess they could be pretty difficult growing in your heat, and their water requirements? I absolutely loved that dark red sunflower bouquet!
Red Roof Family Farm is going to do so great as time goes. You are flexible and willing to change your growing selections to grow your income! You got this. You really do have it all🍅🌻 The garden greens look so beautiful and lush now...looking good!
When you add your signs. Maybe have a list/or calendar showing what you are expecting to provide in the coming weeks. That way folks can see you'll have x vegetable available next week, and they'll know they can get it from you. Not knowing would limit my spending. Also, maybe use the inside of your door with a sign, if allowed. You can write something up that would only be visible when the door is open.
I stumbled on this youtube site because I watch other farmers and DIY people. To draw people in you need nicely made signs advertising what you have specifically, bell peppers, green beans, cucumbers, etc. The flowers are beautiful, sure, but try making the veggies stand out more by specifics, like peppers (how much each) or cucumbers on sale 2 for a buck. You have a long white fence that is screaming for signage. You could make or get cheap frames and poster board to make colorful snazzy signs and hang them on the fence with hooks, when you are done for the day, take the signs off the hooks and re-use every day or change them to something different when you have different produce, like pumpkins and squash. Another idea is to park your cars out front, if it looks like you have current shoppers, and if you have good stuff, and a few shoppers, then I'm stopping in to see what you have too! Spray paint white lines on the gravel to show parking spots. These two things alone would have me stopping in to see what you have. Signs, and good parking, easy to get in and out. Nice, neat, signs. Not color crayon children's art, although those are the best kind. Also might want to advertise who you are on the front of your big white shop wall lol. I wish you all good things on your path, hang in there!
If you know an artist, a couple of large bright coloured paintings on your lovely white fence would catch peoples attention. One with flowers one with veggies & Fruit would let people know to watch for when you are open.
That was one of the fist things my wife and I thought. You have a massive free billboard on both side you could get creative and it would catch people’s eyes as they drive by. They might not stop initially but they will remember the fence and it will become a sort of landmark in the area. Congratulations!
Congratulations! Love the new road side stand. One thing I think would help to catch people's eye is to set up your RED tent and the place large rectangular signed with black writing on the side. The light blue you have is hard to read when driving quickly thru the area. Red and Black will pop and catch the eyes of those fast drivers.
Also, plant some low evergreen bushes on either side of the stand to help make it feel warm and inviting. During the Fall, you can decorate on either side with pumpkins and hay bales to also catch the eye of those fast drivers.
Have you thought about painting the door red? Red means ‘stop’ and might make people look at farm stand when they are driving by because it’s so bright. Also it’s on theme with ‘Red Roof Family Farm’ and your red roofed canopy. I love the blue color you picked out, it’s really pretty:) but the red might help with advertising.
Defianately need a sign on the empty wall by the front door! And maybe clean up the weeds along the front fence... People are attracted by a neat appearance!! 😊 Love your flowers!! You do amazing bouquets!!
Paint FARMERS MARKET in red on a 20 foot banner along the fence to the right of shed. To left of shed do another white banner with red letters listing the fruits and veggies that you sell. Align pumpkins for sale on tables outside door.
The stand looks awesome and love the strip lights. Word of mouth will bring in the people and also maybe a jumbo sign or multiple signs along the road so people can prepare to stop in time.
You could consider putting holes in the bouquet table so the buckets slide in... Preventing them from toppling over, plus lowers the flowers for better top viewing.
Big banners with big colorful photo's of the beautiful flowers and veggies would look great on your fences. And a big colorful road sign to get noticed even when cars are driving quickly.
One tip, plant some colorful flowers along the fence. It will definitely catch the eye while driving. You could grow wild flowers, bulbs. Next year grow dahlias. Also poppy seeds aren't a huge investment and they are beautiful. I love your channel and best of luck.
Maybe a big sign of the front of your little stand. Some people might drive by and quickly glance at you sign by the road but turn their head to see the bigger sign on the building itself. I am so excited for you guys. You work so hard.
Congrats on the stand, looks beautiful! I agree with the previous comments on a red door. Next year perhaps some large planters with some bright colors and some type of branching sunflowers along the fence to catch the eye.
When I worked at a garden center, all the employees parked in front of the building in the morning. As customers showed up, we moved our cars to the back of the lot. People will stop more often if they see a car already there. So park your own car out front sometimes!
Congrats on the farm stand! Serena, you are really hitting your stride with those bouquets. They are beautiful. I’m disappointed more people aren’t buying the food because it looks so tempting to me. Finally, the dancing was priceless.
Make more signs, post them ahead and prepare from them to stop if you can, add flashing lights or flying flowers, if you can. It looks awesome, great job 👏
More work, but.... whenever we wanted to sell something to people who didn't intend to buy it already was through inspiration. How about simple recipe cards you can post near specific veg that they can just snap a pic of and then buy the veg to make it. Treat it like crafting/cooking projects people can try with your veg at home. I always need side dish inspiration. Dinner is just so daily, right? I'd love some inspiration! ;) The stand is so frickin adorable! You have a Following and they will catch onto the new look. Congratulations!
Great idea. When I sold at the farmers market I used to bring different recipes printed out, especially for things like rubarb, squash, zucchini etc. that helped people learn how to use certain ingredients.
With that much traffic, and those lovely veggies and bouquets I suspect you'll be making bank with a little more advertising and time. I'm so sorry to hear about Serena's continued health struggles. It definitely pays to rest and take the time it takes when it comes to healing.
Congratulations on getting the stand up and running! It won't be long and you will be selling out! Add the original roadside stand to start getting the word out to show people the new set up! So exciting!
Great stand, so glad you got it up and going. Maybe next year you could plant up a couple barrels of flowers out front. Always need some bright spots to draw people in. Pumpkins and Fall things, like haybales, this time of year would be great out front. Your red easyup out front when it isn't too windy would draw the eye, and show you are open. Definitely more signage. Even when heading for the farmstand, I would look for the sandwich boards and open signs. Inside "Everything grown here on the farm". Outside " Eat locally grown". You all grow the most beautiful veggies and flowers, and work so hard. I wish you every success.
Maybe think about adding some planter boxes next to your fence and plant some tulips and daffodils for spring blooms and some bright colored flowers and sunflowers for the summer to add some bright colors to attract people driving by.
Hi guys, 🎉CONGRATULATIONS on the new stand, looks AMAZING, here in Australia we have some self serve roadside fresh farm produce sheds just like yours, their set up is so user friendly for all,big signs on the building are great so they stand out well, cash payment of produce via stationary metal honesty box, some have eftpos available for card payment, cameras are also super handy so owners can check stock levels from anywhere and also keep ppl honest. the EUFY cams alert your phone when ppl enter ,so you can see how well it's going, check stock and be alerted if a customer needs help with something via the built in speaker phone. All the best guys, maybe set your red marquee up at shed entrance for extra attention if that's what ppl were used to stopping for. All the best 🙌❤
I reckon you need a red roofed porch on the front. will help on rainy days too. you can have a table out the front as well.. And maybe a gravel drive through?
I was thinking red pull-out awning, then you open it when the stand is open, really easy to see from a distance and easy for those people driving by fast to see if it's open. then sticks with the 'red roof' theme
Congratulations to you guys… Your roadside stand looks awesome! now all you need is a Beautiful flag to flap around and get their attention. Looking good!
Happy to see you moving forward, sure once people get used to the idea that there is a stand by the road, everything will do much better. Respect for your employee, great job!!!! I pray that Serina recovers fully, even then she should take more care of herself. Can't wait for another market day!
You guys need to get some marketing for your RUclips in that shed!! Wish I could pick up veggies weekly from you guys 😍😍 the bouquets are beautiful!!!!!
I love to watch your channel. For more vegetable sales, maybe bundle veg some “kits” together for grab and go…like stir fry, chicken soup, vegetable soup, beef stew items, sheet pan dinner or roasted veg items, gourmet salad or whatever else you think would be easy to put together. Different options every few days depending on your harvest. Best wishes on selling more vegetables.
I hope you have a lot of sales in this little shop with my love. It's very nice and orderly. I admire the bouquets you make with flowers. excellent quality also with love 🌹🌹🌹🌹
This looks amazing! Great job with the shed and nice interior. You could paint a large A-frame sign with a bouquet against a white background. Make it large enough to be seen at 80km.
Good luck to you both!!! What about some bright colored balloons and a signboard listing what you have inside (ie: tomatoes, cucumbers, zuchinni, kale and flowers etc) and a tent seems to always attract people. Maybe putting containers with your bright colored zinnias in them to attract more attention. Bright cheerful colors always attract people. Wishing you lots of success!!
Signs leading up to your property would give people plenty of warning to look for your stand. The flowers are probably selling the most because that is what they see outside and what they are stopping for. A bouquet to take to someone they are on their way to see etc. There is lots of potential!! Good luck!!
🤣🤣... if we keep this up , we can pay this off in...7 YEARS...🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👏👏with the smile and inflection you gave.....absolute comedic gold.😆😆😆😆😆LOVE U GUYS, KIDS DANCING WAS EPIC🕺💃🕺💃🤩
So excited for you in this big step in your farm! I can see from a quick scroll down the comments that you are already getting lots of advice (which you didn't ask for...) but I'm here to give you some more! - As a very anxious person, I would be sooo much more likely to stop if you'd advertised that it's a self-service e-payment stand, perhaps with step-by-step instructions on a board outside. The idea of walking into a little farm shop with a farmer sat in there fills me with genuine dread, so if I understood the process from the off, I would totally integrate this into my regular grocery run (if I was passing by - unfortunately I'm in the UK, haha!) - You should definitely install signs in the lead up to the shop so that people have a few moments to decide to stop and then stop. For me, even if I'd really wanted to buy fresh flowers and veggies, I wouldn't be able to make that decision quickly enough when they came into view, particularly if there were other cars behind - Anything to make the stand itself more visible would definitely help! - Information and signage to emphasise that it is grown literally just a few metres away, organically! However, I realise you've spent dozens and dozens of hours considering the stand and I haven't so you're probably way ahead of me. It will be a huge pleasure to watch how this grows :) Keep taking it easy. It's great to see you back on RUclips when you can manage it
OMG 😸 I went back into your beginning on RUclips , rockin the fur coat and lipstick 💄. Awesome 😎. You totally could carry off the retro look if you chose to . Ok gonna go back into your past and watch some more 😉❤️
Looks great! Congratulations!!! As someone who stopped at random farm stands like this all summer, I would recommend making a giant vegetable sign, like those giant ice cream signs and put it on the blank wall above the flowers, on the door, or on the Fresh Veggies sign. Serina, I hope you feel better soon! Sending you healing vibes!!!
Suggest signage on both sides of road a distance before shop so they slow down~ ie: “farm stand ahead 50 yds.” Maybe an open house? Chalk board outside with specials…like ye we have fresh corn, or pumpkins! I think you need more visible produce….. winter produce? Love you guys!
The stand looks great but the doors should be painted red just my opinion. It will succeed I am sure. Take care and get your health back hopefully soon. The kids were awesome with their dancing .
Congratulations on completing your farm stand. I wouldn’t be discouraged that flowers have been your main sellers for this first week, as far as spontaneous purchasing goes, flowers verses carrots or tomatoes it’s easier to justify. Now being consistently open and Ian spruiking The farm stand to every customer at the farmers market, hopefully regular repeat customers will be the norm. Since you both love garlic, have you ever tried making garlic braids? Or dried strings of chilli. Not sure on the popularity in your area but a great saleable wall decoration and higher value veggie items. Some notes. Obviously things will change over time as you figure out what your needs are (and videos only show a tiny insight) and time and money constraints. A wifi camera/motion sensor on the doorway could allow a quick check if anything needed restocking before physical going to the stand. Do you have a air curtain over the door? Aswell as reducing bugs and dirt it should help keep the ac air inside and reduce the load on the ac unit. When the stands due for a repaint in a year or two, if you wanted to smooth out some of the dark ‘gaps’ that appear between the joints in carpentry, fill with spackle or silicone etc then paint for a smoother finish.
When I was in my teens we sold produce at the Wagon Wheel flea market in St.Petersburg Florida and we owned a roadside produce stand!! I enjoyed that so much it's in my blood and I plan to go back to my childhood by doing the same maybe!? Work in progress
May I make a suggestion? The wall directly facing the entrance door, you should place some hanging pots for the bouquets to free up more table space for your veggies. And it'll look really nice!
Looking great guys, we have been doing the honour system for fruit and veggies for 8 years here in Cape Breton. why do you close? we leave the doors open 24/7! People love the convenience and it's on your honour so....Keep up the struggle, it takes a bit of time for people to get to know you. Sineage is key and must be perpendicular to the traffic to be effective, we live on a fast road as well, i'll try to send you some picks of our market that we built last winter, it's been a boon for sales and to be able to fill it by being inside to do the presentation for the public. I've being loving the channel for the last year and was so glad to see that the honour system is working all the way across the country! Thanks for your hard work and please get well soon!
We've been really happy with the stand so far. There is some theft in our area, because lots of people do the self serve stands. But we haven't been too affected by it yet. We have set hours so that we have times when we can guarantee there is stuff there. It's usually not locked, so I've told people they can get stuff whenever, but we want the stand to be consistent, so we don't want it to empty out at 6am, and then be too busy to refill it all day, and have people stopping and not finding what they want.
I work on a 130 acre berry farm in their market. I think you might want to consider bringing in some locally grown food items that you don't grow, but could buy for wholesale from local farms. Our farm sells locally raised honey, hazelnuts, walnuts, handmade soap using locally grown plants and essential oils, and flash frozen pies, cobblers, and frozen fruit made with all locally grown fruit. The pie company even supplies the display freezer. I think it actually helps us with our bottom line because many of those vendors will even allow you to buy on consignment. Your investment in those items is offering a small amount of space. That might actually help you bridge some of the off season gap.
I am currently watching some video, like this one, which I missed for some reason, and it is so cute to see the first day of the roadside stand and all the anticipation about its future, which we already know really came true, like being a really selling) Good luck with all your current and coming plans! And thank you very much for sharing this with us, it is a great joy being like a member of this farm for years!)
You need to do those signs on telephone poles "flowers and veg in 1km".. congrats on the stand!
I've been told you are not allowed to put permanent signs on telephone poles because they are not your property even if they are on your property

Serina is an artist! Hey, something like the mural in the shop on the fence. I DO love the blue. I find it eye catching.
I love the blue color you picked out, it’s really pretty:) but the red might help with advertising.
glad your back sure missed you guys ...be safe
A window on that front wall would be nice. So everyone can see all the gorgeousness inside! 🍅
Glad to see a video! I hope Serena is feeling and doing better. Glad she is taking it easy
Your stand will totally be a tourist destination stop for us on our next trip to Canada!
This is my Dream too!!! Keep it going!!! Everything comes in it’s time 🏆🙏
Defianately need a sign on the empty wall by the front door! And maybe clean up the weeds along the front fence... People are attracted by a neat appearance!! 😊 Love your flowers!! You do amazing bouquets!!
Get well soon, Serena! I am glad you are getting to rest!
Before building anything, try putting your red pop up shade cover in front of the stand. Good luck!
You will need a scale so people can weigh their produce
as a 48 year old man I can count the number of times I've danced on one hand. When I do dance I dance like your kids. Live free and wander in wonder!
Paint FARMERS MARKET in red on a 20 foot banner along the fence to the right of shed. To left of shed do another white banner with red letters listing the fruits and veggies that you sell. Align pumpkins for sale on tables outside door.
Totally agree
The stand looks awesome and love the strip lights. Word of mouth will bring in the people and also maybe a jumbo sign or multiple signs along the road so people can prepare to stop in time.
You could consider putting holes in the bouquet table so the buckets slide in... Preventing them from toppling over, plus lowers the flowers for better top viewing.
That is a great idea!
Very very happy to see the farm stand going
When I worked at a garden center, all the employees parked in front of the building in the morning. As customers showed up, we moved our cars to the back of the lot. People will stop more often if they see a car already there. So park your own car out front sometimes!
Congrats on the farm stand! Serena, you are really hitting your stride with those bouquets. They are beautiful. I’m disappointed more people aren’t buying the food because it looks so tempting to me. Finally, the dancing was priceless.
anyone having flashbacks to Serena in the pink fringe when the kiddos were dancing ? Lol love it
Maybe something on the wall you can hang to put the flowers in so you have the space on the table for veggies. Looks beautiful
. Great job.
Also, I know more expense, but a banner on the fence, with photo of veggies all over it,would show the produce is inside.
Thank you so much for sharing what it's like to prepare for farm stand selling!!!
Maybe think about adding some planter boxes next to your fence and plant some tulips and daffodils for spring blooms and some bright colored flowers and sunflowers for the summer to add some bright colors to attract people driving by.
Dancing panda should definitely attract customers! So cute! Love the moves Sam … seems to run in the family lol
So happy for you guys. Praying for Serena to get back to 100%, and the dancing was great!!
Hi guys,
🎉CONGRATULATIONS on the new stand, looks AMAZING, here in Australia we have some self serve roadside fresh farm produce sheds just like yours, their set up is so user friendly for all,big signs on the building are great so they stand out well, cash payment of produce via stationary metal honesty box, some have eftpos available for card payment, cameras are also super handy so owners can check stock levels from anywhere and also keep ppl honest. the EUFY cams alert your phone when ppl enter ,so you can see how well it's going, check stock and be alerted if a customer needs help with something via the built in speaker phone.
No eggs? I would pull over for fresh eggs too 😉hope more and more pulls over! God bless you guys! 😉
Happy to see you moving forward, sure once people get used to the idea that there is a stand by the road, everything will do much better. Respect for your employee, great job!!!! I pray that Serina recovers fully, even then she should take more care of herself. Can't wait for another market day!
Love the shed! I hope the sales continue to grow steadily for you 😀💚
You guys need to get some marketing for your RUclips in that shed!! Wish I could pick up veggies weekly from you guys 😍😍 the bouquets are beautiful!!!!!
Great idea, the more you tube watchers, the more you tube money. Make sign inviting people to watch where and how the product is grown on the farm.
Yay! So glad it's finished!
The farmstand looks fabulous. Y'all did such a great job on making it look nice and modern. You guys work so hard, I hope all the best for you!
Your roadside stand looks Fantastic. Now loud signage and a few dancing flowers-, or cute animals. The dancing was brilliant.
I hope you have a lot of sales in this little shop with my love. It's very nice and orderly. I admire the bouquets you make with flowers. excellent quality also with love 🌹🌹🌹🌹
The stand looks AMAZING! Yall did a great job!! I'm excited to see how much it brings in next year once a customer base is established.
Ok the kiddo dance break just put me in the best mood.
That Fall bouquet you completed (at 19:00 on the video)...Ohhh Baby! Those are my colors! So, striking.
Sending you best wishes (and beaucoup bucks) on your endeavor, what is the saying, "build it and they will come".
I love all your flowers! I think if you put a cute sign to the right side of the front door, it will look like a shop. Veggies look awesome!
This looks amazing! Great job with the shed and nice interior. You could paint a large A-frame sign with a bouquet against a white background. Make it large enough to be seen at 80km.
lol....like a billboard......that's pretty fast
So proud of you guys you work so hard and now the fruits of your labor is paying off.
If I lived nearby, I would be there ecert week. Your community is so blessed to have your farm ( home grown food is so much healthier and tasty).
Yay for farmer’s market!! Glad Serena is on the mend. Hope she feels a 100% soon. Love seeing team work making the dream work. Stay blessed.
You need one of those “Open” flags to put out. Good luck, if I lived in your neighborhood, I would be there every day!
Yes, a big flag would be good.
If I lived by you I would take advantage of it because nothing beats how fresh it looks
The idea of walking into a little farm shop with a farmer sat in there fills me with genuine dread, so if I understood the process from the off, I would totally integrate this into my regular grocery run (if I was passing by - unfortunately I'm in the UK, haha!)
- You should definitely install signs in the lead up to the shop so that people have a few moments to decide to stop and then stop. For me, even if I'd really wanted to buy fresh flowers and veggies, I wouldn't be able to make that decision quickly enough when they came into view, particularly if there were other cars behind
- Anything to make the stand itself more visible would definitely help!
The Dance Party at 10:23 is adorable!!
Be patient with yourself and remember you have a lovely product.
Your results say just sell flowers Right! Your great ☺️👍
May I make a suggestion?
The wall directly facing the entrance door, you should place some hanging pots for the bouquets to free up more table space for your veggies.
And it'll look really nice!
The littles dancing! I wanna live as free as them!
You totally can, just be ready to explain to the police you’re not drinking 🤣
