I will check into this more.. I don't like the idea of taking deadwood from the forest. Do many birds and insects live in the deadwood and it feeds the forest floor and helps fungi. Guess I'll do some research on that part. We have been using bio char from our wood stove and put in veggie garden for a few years now.

I watch every video as you publish them. I love your personalities and the information you share. I know this wasn't a fun video to make but it helps others to know how to support themselves through RUclips. In your video on how much you (didn't) make farming this year, I think you really helped prospective farmers realize how much money it takes to establish a productive farm. All those investments are going to pay off eventually. You didn't lose money - you just invested it.
I thought the Flower Face video was so ridiculous/cringe in the most adorable way. It was like a film version of a Dad joke. You know you are going to groan at the punchline but you play along anyway🤣 It definitely highlighted your fun personalities and showed that what we see is the real deal. Looking forward to seeing all of your flowers this season.

Just a idea this one Amish stand that I like to shop at . The lady has herbs in pots size of 5 gal buckets that she can trade out each day . For $ 2.00 you get a small zip lock cookie size you all can put in mix or all the same the only thing was the bag has to close .You can line the fence with the buckets . That way you can guarantee have the freshest herbs .
I commend you guys for all that you accomplish on a daily, weekly, monthly, basis! Between the Farm- the seed starting, harvesting, flower arranging, veggie washing, & the YT content- filming, editing, etc. & the kids... 👏 Great job!

I think it is fantastic that Utube is available as a source of income. Along with this you are allowing the public to see what it takes. All the ups and downs. Any that are thinking of doing the same can see the reality. Great teaching tool for the young. I am 75 and wish something had been available years ago. Keep up the great work.

RUclips isn't as easy as it looks; I dabble in it a bit - have yet to put up an edited video. There are hours and hours put into setting up the filming / shots and then there's the hours of editing. You two put so much into your farm and videos that it's mind blowing. Looking forward to YCETG 2022.

I like the numbers and not many people will be upfront with numbers... Money is an absolute necessity for everyone and the reality of life is that it can be really hard to come by. It's such a trend to homestead now that it's romanticized and the reality is that it can cost A LOT of $$$ without making much in return. I would assume that it's the same for RUclips... I think these yearly videos are your MOST important videos!! Thank you!!

I loved your paper pot video, I made paper pots using your method and recycled grocery bags and all my seedlings grew well and we ar ecurrently reaping the benefits of beans, tomatoes and zucchini seedlings made this way :-)
Truely, I do not watch Don't Eat The Grass income videos for drama at all. I will not watch RUclips and farm income video from all of the RUclips channels, they are not all equal, do not give comprehensive information. Don't Eat The Grass, Flower Hill Farm, thats it. Nichol's was the first one I ever watched, it presented really good factual, information about her personal situation, with practical even cautionary examples of her experience. I appreciated her candor so much. Your candor is equally valuable to me. I want to start flower farming, southern Virginia. I need to learn, and be encouraged. I am encouraged. Invest in a rain water capture system, shadecloth for drought periods, air filter for your house and better face masks from disposable ones to better protect you during wildfire season (believe me the respite is needed), develop efficiency methods to use less time on chores like prepping buckets before harvest, reuse water to reduce waste, get organised...this helps with time management giving you more time being productive and less stress. You guys deserve every blessing and no stress.

I definitely think it's interesting to find out how much one makes, it's often a taboo.
Btw, your strawberry patch video was so popular *, why not try to make a new one next spring/summer (not necessarily with strawberries). It was so relaxing, and given that it is the most viewed video, I am not the only one who just found it incredibly good.
After watching your paper pots video, I started doing something similar, easier, but less scalable. I use the paper envelopes that junk mail comes in! Sometimes longways, just cut in half with a scissors, other times sideways - two plants together, great for establishing companion pairs. I say it's less scalable because I do get enough junk mail for my gardening needs but I'd need a heck of a lot more if I were farming!

You will always get better and kids make every job we have harder but only when young , and they grow so fast so keep up the tuff give them the love and lessons and real help is what they will give back, it changes just as fast! You guys are great!
I was wondering why I haven't seen your videos lately. Thanks for the update. My husband & I used to have 20 acres of garden that we had, after 15 years of barely making a living we quit doing the farmers market. We still do the greenhouse and have a fairly large garden plot. I enjoy the time with my children in grandchildren while we work in the garden and greenhouse now better than before. Keep up the good work.

Drama Llama here! LOL I'm so happy for you guys! I hear what you said about your channel suffering when you couldn't post. I had to work in the field in my business over the summer and I was so busy that something had to give. I wasn't able to post videos for about 6 weeks. It was just when I was starting to gain momentum and all of that traction just stopped. I'm still recovering from that.

I am a subscriber for a while now but after watching this video I literally went back to day one and watched or rewatched every video. Of course to support your channel but also because I enjoy your journey. You are honest about things and very transparent. I love this. Plus I learn from you, I dream of having a small cut flower patch on my property and you really help me see the reality of the day to day.
