- In continuation of our Summer Farm Tour series we are joined, again, by the great Clara Coleman of Four Season Farm in Harborside, Maine.
In this video, she discusses the VERY rural farm stand at Four Season Farm, some of the history and nuance of making it work, and some things to consider if you're thinking of doing something similar on your own farm.

My goal is to have a small market garden. I'm getting ready to plant garlic in 2 to 3 weeks.
Liking waking up Sunday mornings to a fresh upload. Thank you!
You deserve the highest praise for your accomplishments! Imagine: To be on a promintory into the NORTH Atlantic (in Maine, no less...) and a successful business concern (in agriculture..!) is laudible, at the very least. Thank "Farmer Jesse" for the tip.
All praise goes to her father, Elliot Coleman one of the Godfathers of market farming space. A true innovator.
This is a very smart marketing move. We all want something exclusive and just about croak when we miss out. If you’re open every day, I might think about it but likely never go. And your veggies look wonderful.
Love the farm tours!!.......Thanks!!!
Thank you farmer Jesse
Enjoyed the show along with the info. N.C..
Wow, if I could get the prices you see at 6:03 I would have zero issue switching careers. Until then, it's just a small side gig, at best, for me.
Looking forward to more content from your farm. Have learned so much from you
Just read her father, Elliot Colemans book.
Thank You Jesse - luv you!
Awesome
I’m presenting at OGS as well. Hope to connect with you there. And Clara is awesome. Her #realfarmerscare initiative has helped many farmers.
You're right, Farmer Jesse. Oregon also has a Dallas and The Dalles.
And there’s Dallas, Georgia, too!
Greetings from Indonesia, you are my role model in my farming bro 🙏🙏
delightful and inspirational!! what a nice way to start a sunday!! Thank you for sharing
I would like to set up a self serv farm stand. What do you think?
That's called a garden. Just kidding. Do you mean like using the honor system and you just leave a deposit box for people? Or like Amazon-hand-scanny mark o' da beast kinda thing? Lol
Love it! I just purchased a shed to turn it into a farm stand for my cutflowers & vegetables, as well as to sell some items from other local crafters & small businesses.
👍🏻
I had a similar idea whenever I was able to get my farm going. Glad to see that with the right work ethic it'll work well
😅😮
@@fisterdave I didn't mean anything sassy by that statement lol I think they e got a good thing going and I hope to be on their level someday. Even if it's in a different form.
The produce looks great but I think I will skip the seasonal salad shown at 12:39.
Great to see For Season Farm featured. Wish more credit was given to Eliot. It would not exist without him.
Literally the entire Market Farming space might not exist without him. If there was a hall of fame, he would be one of the first 3 inducted. She is responsible for almost nothing of this lmao, it was all Elliot.
@@mikehunte398 Absolutely. It will always be Eliot's farm.
❤❤👍👍👍
The prices seem pretty high even by organic market farm standards.
Till growers❤❤❤❤❤ yes oce ,i nice❤❤❤❤❤
Cash only
I named (four season farming)
All I'm hearing from clare is how hard everything is its even to hard to take cash.
She has to make it seem that way because she had nothing to do with any of the farms success. It was all her father, Elliot Coleman.
A bit pricey on corn & potatoes. Everything else would be fair price.
25% of revenue at a farmstand open for only 2 hours a week!😮
They should take cash. Sad to see businesses snuff their noses at cash.
"2 hours equals 25% of the profit" does not equate to "4 hours equals 50% of the profit"... "4 hours will likely equal the same 25% of the profit"
Yeah, definitely some troll army here around the comments... these proce discussions 😅 if you deliver premium products than charge for s premium products... no one cries that premium apple products at high prices... definitely some people without basic pricing knowledge around
No cash?! Doesn’t this kind of… contradict the small farm ethos? I mean, I get it, but still…
Shes just riding in Elliots wake and success.
$6/lb for potatoes? That's a lot.
Very high
And $2.50 for an EAR of corn! I’ve seen as high as $1/ear ($6/half dozen) in Canada, but that’s $0.65/ear in the US, so about 300% higher than the most expensive I’ve ever seen.
Edit: I did notice that the sign says “summer pricing begins July 1” so perhaps that’s super early pricing, which would be expensive to grow those crops especially if grown in a greenhouse, ie. corn and potatoes. I’m almost thinking why bother waste expensive greenhouse space on those crops but oh well, different strokes.

they pay a fair wage, do you think they shouldn't be paid for their work?
their corn isn't conventional corn, its very clear why organic non spray corn costs more, jesus.@@goodboysongs
